UA and LH are Star Alliance. Air Dolomiti is owned by LH. When you choose your flights, it clearly shows who the operating carrier is. Did you book these flights through Travelocity? If so, they are the ones responsible for fixing this, not the airlines.

I guess you did not fly Southwest last winter. So you booked this yourself flight directly with United, and because UA does not fly from FLR, that leg was with Air Dolomiti? Sounds like a problem with that airline, not UA. Are you sure any of your legs are actually with UA and not LH? And no, you are not getting a seat upgrade because of this. And if you want to control your flights, you can book them directly yourself, not use Viking.

And, if you don’t want to carry it home, order some in advance on Amazon.

This. And in an irrops situation, seats fill up quickly and agents are busy dealing with people who, for some reason, never bothered to provide the airline with an email address or phone number. So, they waste their time standing in line to be “rebooked” and then loudly complain about the wait. You usually have to stick with what you got.

I did the same. Submitted renewal online and paid for expedited service on Jan 9. Did not receive my passport until two weeks ago. My understanding is that the waiting times are starting to get longer as people are renewing for summer travel.
