  1. The ones in the Solarium on Mariner were awful. People would grab them and last less than an hour before moving on.
  2. We joined friends at their cabana last July. It was quite nice. I do remember that the bathroom was at the end of the walkway. If walking is an issue, you may want to consider this.
  3. We were on a cruise many years ago where there was a young “lady” who was so drunk during the life boat drill she couldn’t stand up. She heckled the poor guy showing how to put on a life jacket. An officer came and led her away. The rest of us applauded.
  4. I looked and WOW!!! I looked at 2 years from now - peak hurricane season, usually reasonable prices. The suite prices are ridiculous. Each of the 2 high end suites are more than $80,000 for a 7 day cruise. I’m not judging how others spend their money, but that’s amazing. We’ll stick with the other ships until the new cruise smell fades.
  5. We enjoyed the feeling of space that the 2 stories give. I thought the balcony was fine. I did however, get frustrated. It seemed that no matter what I wanted it was on the other floor. I can’t remember which ship, but we loved the large walk-in shower. I believe some newer ships have a tub instead.
  6. Thanks. I have little to no knowledge of anything medical. I’ve always wondered.
  7. Strangest one we had was about 1:00 am stating that a passenger needed a transfusion. They asked for any verified blood donors with O+, but specified male only. I didn’t know gender made a difference.
  8. I think 60, but I’m almost 70 so I’ve forgotten when I became eligible. I know Publix is 60 - they give a 5% discount on Wednesday.. I don’t mind using my age to get a discount, it means more money for cruising!
  9. Agree. This week I went to Great Clips for a basic haircut. The senior rate was $16. The credit card machine had 3 options for tip - $4, $6, or custom. That’s 25% or 37.5%. Wow!
  10. A little further away from the ship so it is usually a little less crowded. Sandy with a gentle slope. There’s a buffet close and restrooms. Quite a bit of shade.
  11. I’m probably one of the few people who don’t like them. I bake most of our bread at home and I absolutely love the breads they serve. It’s so great to have a selection of different breads.
  12. On our last cruise (Mariner) everything was very good except the pesto pasta which was rather dry. The beef tenderloin was very tender and flavorful.
  13. 1 yes 2 we like Columbus Cove 3 yes, yes
  14. With the cruises we have booked, I have been trying to figure out when to renew. They expire spring of 2025 and we are cruising frequently before then. One cruise will need to be with birth certificate and license. My birth certificate is (obviously) in my maiden name and my license with my married name. Do I need to take the bridging document (marriage license)?
  15. We have several suite guarantees booked. I fully expect to get a junior suite and I’m happy with that. For one of them I saved over $1000. Since none of the junior suites are in a horrible location, I’m happy to take a lower fare.
  16. I second this. This was our favorite excursion. I’d book them again anytime.
  17. We do that too. The first time we both got a 2 cut meal and couldn’t eat it all.
  18. We had one on Adventure last fall. It was a great space. The bathroom was rather tight. Our only real problem was the fog horn. We had 2 nights (between Bayonne and Boston) with fog. The fog horn is right outside the window. It sounded about 5 seconds out of each 2 minutes, all night long.
  19. That’s the great advantage of an old fashioned watch. You can set the time and not worry about it changing. DH has one we bought at Target for about $15. Mostly used on vacation.
  20. I only wear my wedding ring, a plain thin band. It’s been on my finger since the day we got married, almost 49 years ago. I’ve had surgical tape wrapped around it for a couple of surgeries, but it hasn’t left my finger. And I hope it stays there for quite a while longer.
  21. That depends on where the ship is. On Mariner in July they planned on showing the USMen’s game. However, when it was time there was no game and lots of staff punching lots of buttons on remotes. The final answer was that the ship was in a “dead spot “ and they couldn’t get signal. Family at the next table watched it on a phone and announced scores. Nachos and beer were great!
  22. We were scheduled to stop at Athens May 1, 2013. It was decided that the May Day demonstrations were more than they felt was reasonable, so they decided not to stop. RC does pay attention to things like this and adjusts if they feel it is necessary.
  23. Andrew and Lisa - thanks for taking us along on your anniversary celebration. I’m “less tall” and have found the best way to get into and out of the tub is to sit on the ledge/shelf in the back and swing my legs around. I’m always surprised that the floor is significantly lower than the bottom of the tub if I try to step out. Personally, I love the mosaic face and talk to it every time.
  24. In early July it was pay as you enter. We have our first b2b this fall. Do I pay for both cruises or is the second one “free”?
