  1. I am really enjoying your pictures. I think you’re doing a GREAT job. I appreciate you taking the time to share.
  2. We had a barefoot beach hilltop cabana about a year ago when they were on sale. We got the furthest one. It was quite a climb to get to it. The entry into the water was a “pipe” ladder. The trek to the bathroom or the sandy beach was long. Maybe because we were so far away the cabana attendant rarely came by. All in all, we were disappointed. Several years ago we got one that was just to the right of the beach and it was a fabulous location. So, it really depends on which one you get.
  3. I haven’t used a birth certificate for quite a while, but was warned by someone on cruise critic that the name on the birth certificate must match the id or a bridging document must be shown. For example, my birth certificate has my maiden name (obviously) and my driver license has my married name. I would need my marriage license also. I really don’t remember needing it years ago, but better safe than sorry.
  4. Happy birthday to your daughter. My son turned 37 on Thursday. Every Christmas, I think about 1986 when I was 8 3/4 months pregnant. Getting cookies and the turkey in and out of the oven was an interesting experience. I was also chasing a 2 1/2 year old who was so excited. Luckily, Dave was a great help. I’m sure you have similar remembrances.
  5. I agree that Odyssey is different than the ships in the Oasis, Freedom and Mariner classes. But then so are Jewel and other older ships. Different isn’t inherently good or bad. I liked many things on odyssey but didn’t love the Playmaker location. But I loved the blue loveseats outside on one of the higher decks (outside Playmakers).
  6. Happened to us in Miami a few years ago. Didn’t get to the ship until well after noon. I checked the date of the marathon for the next year before I booked our next cruise.
  7. He is definitely well known. According to an article I read, at an auction recently 6 of the shirts he wore in the World Cup were sold for over 6 million pounds!
  8. In October we were at the Beach Club and there were LOTS of seagulls there. They lined the edge of the infinity pool and only moved if people came really close. They also swarmed the beach. Maybe they are just “fancy “ gulls and like the Beach club better.
  9. In July we saw a lemon shark. The lifeguards suddenly got everyone out of the water and said there was a hammerhead shark. We saw the fin zip across the water, I had no idea they moved that fast.
  10. I’m American and I have definitely heard of him. Since he’s now playing in Miami it makes sense. RC has their logo on some non-player kits in the EPL, maybe a team staff group - I don’t remember exactly but I remember seeing it. And I believe they are a corporate sponsor for the Miami MLS team. Football (or soccer as it’s known here) is a great sport.
  11. When it’s foggy the ship sounds the fog horn. It goes off about 5 seconds every 2 minutes, all night long. How do I know? Cabin in the very front. I suggest a cabin mid-ship. Our adult son was in a balcony further back and didn’t hear it. Ports were great.
  12. Does anyone know if it’s available in Miami? We’re on Freedom next February and I would love to use it.
  13. We had a 2 br gs on Adventure and it was very nice. Large living room with couch and 2 comfy chairs. Balcony had loungers and table and chairs. We enjoyed it.
  14. We have inflatable pads (I believe the brand is klymat) . They deflate and roll up to about 4” diameter and 7” long. Easily fit in our suitcase.
  15. I ordered something from Amazon that has 3 plug ins and 4 USB spots. It specifically said cruise ship allowable. It was great, not expensive and we had no trouble with it on our last cruise on Mariner.
  16. At that age we generally got connecting cabins for our 2 sons and us. I threatened them with permanent grounding if they left the cabin. But I never thought to tell them not to climb out. I’m lucky they were reasonable (at least most of the time).
  17. We have booked many suite guarantees. We have always gotten a junior suite. I have never had a bad location, but I think all of the suites are in decent locations. We have a B2B with guarantees on both legs. Saved over $2000. For that amount of money I can pack and unpack. I very much doubt that suite guarantees would be “bumped” from a cruise.
  18. I am a member of that category. On one of my booked cruises, the difference between a suite guarantee and a junior suite was $800 per person for a 7 night cruise. That’s hard to pass up. We’ve done suite guarantee cabins many times. I figured that JS are all the same and don’t have bad locations, so why not save money? So far they’ve all been fine. We’ve always gotten junior suites.
  19. About 2 years ago our local cooperative that provides phone, internet and cable sent us a letter explaining that the various tv providers were increasing their prices and so our cable would be going way up. They then explained streaming options and offered to help anyone who wanted to pick the best match for them. We started using sling and added Paramount and Peacock to get the soccer Dave wanted. I often watch Pluto - a free service that has Antiques Roadshow, both the UK and US versions.
  20. @chengkp75 Thank you for your informative and easy to understand response.
  21. We’re on that one and then the following Med 14 day one to celebrate our 50th anniversary.
  22. I’ve been following this from the beginning but I seem to have missed something. We’re looking for a May 2025 cruise from Port Canaveral, Fort Lauderdale or Miami on a larger ship (7 days or so). Right now we’re limited to Oasis. I had expected all of them to be available this week. Are there more to come?
  23. We had one of those. The half bath on one side had the toilet and sink. The other bath had a tub, walk in shower and a sink. We liked it, it made getting ready easier for the 2 of us. Next summer we have one of the ones that has 2 toilets and no walk in shower, just the shower/tub combo. Not sure if that’s better or worse.
  24. We were at the beach club last week. Lunch was great, I had the surf and turf - a half lobster and a petite filet. I like the beach club because it’s not crowded and is quieter. The cost can vary depending on ship and date. Sometimes it is worth it to me to spend the extra. We don’t do the specialty dining onboard, so this is our splurge. I often have some onboard credit that I use to offset the cost. The Black Friday sale on now has some good deals for our sailings.
