  1. My kids were #2 on the reservation, so if 21 and able to consume alcohol, $20 a day. However, in spite of being able to consume alcohol, they were not eligible for an alcohol package.
  2. Keep in mind, in this situation, if they were 21, they’d get the free drink package, it seems wrong that NCL will accept the waiver so they can drink beer and wine, but since they are under 21, they get the soda package. My daughter was 3 weeks from her 21st birthday, was allowed to order beer and wine, was #2 in the cabin, but had to pay for beer and wine.
  3. We really liked it, took a taxi there and back for $5 pp, ate at the breakfast and lunch buffets (better food than on the ship), the beach was beautiful, the water deep and very clear.
  4. There is no way Uber would’ve cost that much or taken more than 20 minutes. With Uber/Lyft you get the price before you book it.
  5. We’ve been to Nassau 5 times, did day passes at the Hilton (now closed), Melia, Atlantis twice, and RIU. Melia and RIU were AI. I remember telling my kids that a lot of folks just stay on the ship, they were shocked because the beaches are beautiful.
  6. They had that package on our last cruise, our 19 and 20 year olds were #2 in each cabin, had to pay for their drinks (they got the soda package).
  7. My kids used lanyards when they were younger.
  8. Our family of 7 always eats in the larger MDR on NCL, many more big tables. We never even make reservations (but you should to be near each other).
  9. I believe reservations are needed for shows on all of the newer bigger ships on all lines, it would be chaos if thousands tried to do walk in’s at theaters not nearly big enough.
  10. Our first NCL cruise was in 2005 and I don’t ever remember lunch in a specialty.
  11. My whole family has the Verizon international travel plan on their phones, $10 a day for unlimited calling, texting and internet. If it’s not used, $0. But it’s nice to know it’s there automatically.
  12. Specialty dining yes, it wasn’t a problem before they started offering it as a perk. Our family of 7 has sailed during busy weeks and have never made a MDR reservation, on the older ships show reservations aren’t taken and there is no need.
  13. I find with customer service many places they are instructed not to apologize or admit fault.
  14. I clearly remember reading about the expiration dates and how they kept getting extended, some wanted to get a refund after accepting the FCC and that was not possible.
  15. Our first cruise was NCL, just my husband and I, we loved the MTD concept. Next cruise was DCL with our 5 kids and my parents, OMG the struggle to get 9 people to our table for early seating was real, getting back on the ship, and getting everyone showered (and of course folks were hungry getting back on the ship so snacking happened, which meant no one was really hungry for dinner). Back to NCL, we still ate as a family for dinner, but made no reservations, so much better. I can’t imagine getting 16 people to the table at a certain time every single night! Maybe a couple and switch people around (I’m assuming 2 tables). My sister and I rent a (expensive- could cruise for the cost) beach house for a week for the summer with our kids (8 in total) and SO’s are invited as well. They are free to go out to dinner if they wish, or eat what we make.
  16. I didn’t think that any of the cruise excursions go to exuma, just local islands where they bring pigs to the beach.
  17. I’m confused, I thought you had a choice, accept the refund or take the credit + extra to use to book a cruise within a certain time frame (based on all of the posts here). I don’t think one could change their minds later.
  18. For dining reservations just 4 as # of diners. For shows and excursions you need to go into each reservation, there will be different reservation numbers (family of 7 here). ETA, you can sign beer/wine waivers allowing them to purchase beer and wine, on our last cruise there were a few young adult meetups that my 19/20 year olds enjoyed.
  19. At home I eat 2 meals a day, around 11 and 6/7, on a cruise I eat breakfast and dinner. I used to try 3 meals but I was never hungry for dinner (or lunch).
  20. Not only have I never had an issue getting parking at the MCT, even during fleet week when pier 88 wasn’t available to park at, I’ve never seen it reported here about parking not being available, in decades. I wonder if reserved parking is refundable?
  21. I’m not familiar with the MA school schedules, NJ and NY go back after Labor Day, I thought the whole NE was on a similar schedule.
  22. 99.9% of folks with the UBP get it included and only pay $20 a day for the gratuity. Back when it first came out, it wasn’t a perk, and cost about $50 a day plus gratuity. Recently the corkage fee has been eliminated for those with the UBP.
