  1. Good morning and Happy Sunday. It’s a bright sunshiny day and should stay that way for a long while.

All good days, although I never knew who St Erasmus was and St Elmo’s Fire. Now I can’t get the song out of my head.

Craig buys the Carpano Anticia vermouth occasionally. It’s more expensive and fancy. He uses it in his Negronis. BTW, keep your vermouth refrigerated. Since it is like wine, It helps keep the flavor longer. It’s more technical than that but you get the drift.

I’ll pass on the drink, the meal, and have never been to the port.

    Bon Voyage Karen @luvteaching!

Happy retirement to @Horizon chaser 1957’s DH!!

    Terry, safe travels home today.

    Have a great day everyone!

  2. Are you in a BB or BC guarantee?  You might call your travel provider and see if you can change to an A instead. Those are on deck 6. I had an A guarantee last year on the Volendam and was very happy with the location In 6131 and don’t remember any vibration.

We had a sad email from our neighborhood Pod captain.  It seems a couple on the other street in our Pod went on vacation . While away someone broke into their home and stole both their cars and other items of value in the home.  They found the location of one of the cars through the Find My Car app on their phone.  The police had a chase involving one of the cars, an SUV, which was totaled when the culprits ran into 7 other vehicles along the way.  The second car was found in okay shape.

Who did it?  The older couple's grandson and some of his "associates". 😲 People in the neighborhood had been worried about the break in since this is a rare occurrence in our location.  Imagine how humiliating this was to have to admit to the whole community that it was an inside job, and their own grandchild broke in and stole from them?!?  It puts all our minds at rest, but I feel terrible for them.  I can say with no doubt that my 4 grandsons and 2 granddaughters would never, ever do something like that.  Their parents can be proud of them and I let my son and daughter know it. 🥰

Sandi, this is horrible.  How the grandson could ever live with himself and could ever look his grandparents in the face again is beyond understanding.

However things like this happen. Some people don’t have a guilty conscience. Hopefully the grandson will get the help he needs to turn his life around.

  4. 🐇  🐇  🐇   Welcome to June!

Good morning and Happy Saturday. It should be 101 today and I’m planning on some pool time.

What a long quote. Good days and Craig used the Heimlich and saved me after I choked on a large vitamin. I found out that you can also do it yourself by using a chair. It’s a memory that I won’t forget.

Pass on the drink. What is a squared wine? Not been to the port. I like egg salad but don’t keep bread around so hardly make it. Today are mustard chicken leftovers. Ice cream for dessert.

Bon Voyage @Mr. Boston!  Congratulations on your new home too.

Ann @Vict0riann, I’m sorry about your biopsy results and hoping the lumpectomy is soon.

Lenda @Quartzsite Cruiser, your new golf cart is cute!  I like the black too.

    Have a great day everyone!

  5. Good evening!  I checked the temperature at 6:30 and it was 99 and then checked the pool temperature and it was 85 so decided to take my first dip of the season. It was delightful, cool but once in not too bad. The weather forecast looks good for more pool time.

You are correct - I've not mentioned work in several weeks as I felt like I was stuck in a negative space /spiral and wanted to give myself some room to re-center. Or as some say "if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything." 😉

None of the Drs would sign the FMLA LOA or Accom papers (even though they're prescribing PT, etc) so I've been off work without pay for 5 weeks. I updated my status myself to RTW effective Mon 5/27, so this is the end of my first week back. That created a stir and my phone rang first thing Tues when the HR Mgr started her day. She wanted to know where the papers are. 🤷‍♀️

I think it will end w/me leaving and filing for SS.

I've doubled up on PT and OT has been added, so it does pull me away from work a lot. Not sure how any Dr can think that's not worthy of a signature.

    Thanks for checking on me.

As long as Dr clears me for travel, I plan on going on the cruise - hope to know soon. I see him (surgeon) again next week.

I’m not sure why some doctors/providers are reluctant to sign off on FMLA. When I broke my hand in 2019 I asked the orthopedic doctor to sign FMLA papers because I was out of PTO time since I was part time. He said that I wouldn’t need it, that I could still work. Goodness, I was constantly typing, how could I continue to type and keep up?  I had a cast and limited finger movement with that hand. He ended up signing it since I was out of PTO but I could tell he didn’t want to. It came in handy for appointments and I ended up figuring out how to type without two of my fingers.

I’m sorry it’s been a struggle for you. I can see how having appointments would reduce your work hours. How a doctor can’t understand that is crazy.

  6. Good morning and Happy Friday. It’s hot and here to stay. I don’t know how Pennie can survive without the AC. We do keep it warmer usually 79, sometimes 78 if I’m cooking, and you get used to that. Overnight I have to have it on 74. The pool is still too cold but maybe this weekend I’ll test the water.

Ann @Vict0riann, Happy Birthday to DH Pat!  And to you—prayers for your results. Don’t worry too much about them, remember these are radiologists looking at them not your doctor. The doctor I worked for would often not even look at the written results until she reviewed the actual films.

I’m passing on the MOD and drink and wine. I’ll probably never get to the port. We are having leftovers today and tomorrow. The days are good. Hearing safety is very important. When I was first starting in the medical field I worked for a large ENT group and learned so much. I wish my DM didn’t have hearing issues but it runs in the family. Going to a family reunion was like going to a shouting match.

@erewhon, I’m happy to read your test results were good.

Graham @grapau27, thank you for the pictures and videos of the NS.  I love hearing your voice on the videos!  I hope you are feeling better.

Elizabeth @Haljo1935, maybe I missed something but I haven’t read you talk about work lately. Did you retire?  I hope your shoulder issues get better and you can book the cruise. Your rains and storms sound intense.

    Have a great day everyone!

  7. Good afternoon!  I made mustard chicken for lunch and it turned out to be more involved than I expected but turned out really good. I’ve never been to College Fjord. Not sure if I ever will. I have made a similar MOD and it’s always a hit during the summer.  Mine is more like the last recipe.

Happy Birthday Jacqui!!  @kazu Enjoy your special day!

@GTVCRUISER , Happy Birthday!  I enjoy your San Diego pictures!

    Have a great day everyone!

I click on links on their website and it just seems to redirect me to the have it all program.

First make sure to change the number of guests to one and continue because it defaults to two. The HIA comes up because you have to select either with it or without it. Then you should be able to continue with checking various prices.

Solo Pricing can be all over the place. I check online first but get the final price through my PCC.

  9. Carolyn @Cruising-along and Debbie @dfish, I had never experienced the memory test until DM’s physical last month. It was her first time taking the test—at almost 95!  She was so irritated during the test because the questions seemed silly. I thought that the questions were ridiculous and not at all what should be asked. Of course she knew the day of the week, she had the appointment on her calendar that she looks at every day, plus she chooses her meals ahead of time from the calendar type menu the center puts out.

Anyway, I’m going to suggest to her to ask them not to do it again. At this point I think her memory issues are mostly because of her hearing.

  10. Good evening all!  Craig and I spent a lot of time cracking crab today. It was from my monthly seafood delivery. So after that I made Cajun spiced crab over polenta. Other than eating it plain with butter it’s my favorite way to eat it.  I also got more done on my Zuiderdam cruise. Wow, airline prices have gone up.

Ann @cat shepard ~~ Happy Birthday!!  You are one year ahead of me. Did you get a new tiara?

    Happy Anniversary @Horizon chaser 1957!!

Graham @grapau27, I hope you and Pauline are feeling better.

    Have a good evening!

  11. Good morning and Happy Tuesday. Thank you Pennie @Nickelpennyfor the weather report for yesterday. I thought it was only 99. Today is supposed to be 101. I just love summer and I’m not being sarcastic, I really do enjoy the heat.

I am slowly working on filling in all the details for my Zuiderdam cruise. I’ve never been on her either but have been on the Oosterdam many times and once on the Westerdam.

I have an email offer for a BOGO burger at our favorite place for burgers so I think we’ll go there for lunch.

We started with a new pool service and today is our second week. I’m interested if they are consistent. That’s the main reason we changed, plus 2 workers came the last time at 5:45am loudly talking. Craig went out to ask them to be quiet but they were rude. Our neighbors are close so we were quite irritated and canceled our service that same day.

Graham @grapau27, I hope you and Pauline feel better soon.

    Have a great day everyone!

  12. Good evening.  I put a hold on the Zuiderdam B2B cruise for August.  My PCC should call me tomorrow to settle things.  Time was running out on the sale.  Debbie @dfish, I'm sorry if I woke you up.

Roy @rafinmd, I'm glad your hand is doing better.  My forearm is better but I still have to use the Tagederm on it and sometimes coban wrap to cover it up.  Unfortunately it was deep but good that it was small.

    Congratulations @kochleffel!

  13. Good morning and Happy Monday. Another sun shiny day. Thinking of those who lost their lives serving our country on this Memorial Day. We usually put our flag out but Craig says it needs to be replaced. I need to remind him to buy one. I like it for Flag Day.  We are going over to DM’s for lunch today. They are serving ribs, one of my favorites, not sure what else.

Memorial Day usually marks when we get in the pool but it’s still too cold. Our overnight temps are not warm enough yet. Also it hasn’t been 100 yet. Hopefully this week.

The MOD looks good. And I read the port wrong and thought it was Glacier Bay in Alaska, then saw Sandi’s post and realized that it was Glacier Alley. Thanks to all for your pictures.

Roy @rafinmd, I’ve been meaning to ask about your hand. Has it healed up so you don’t need a bandage?

    Have a great day everyone!

  14. Good morning and Happy Sunday. It’s a nice sunny day.

The MOD sounds good, I like quinoa.  I’ll soon be able to make my own pesto because my 2 basil plants are doing really good. I’m not a fan of pesto on pasta so am always looking for different ways to use it.

Craig gets home today. I have really enjoyed my time alone but also miss him. Not sure what I’m making today. I have a recipe for mustard chicken that I’ve been wanting to make. One of the ladies made it when we were in Waco.

Pennie @Nickelpenny, your cockroach and javelina stories are funny but true to Tucson.

    Have a great day everyone!

Bruce, I hope you have a green flash. I thought I saw one on a Caribbean cruise but it was a new concept for me so I’m still not sure. Also, I really enjoyed your pictures and description from your winery tour. That’s something I would really enjoy.

    Good afternoon all!

    Happy birthday to @smitty34877’s Tana!!

The boys are having a wonderful time here at Great Wolf Lodge. Lots of water time and that’s what those two water bugs love.

DH and I are patting ourselves on the back for booking a cabana where we can relax and the boys have a place to come rest and eat.

    No resting yet, though!

I was pleased with my labs yesterday except for the A1C. Everything else improved, even my kidney function. But the fact that I didn’t get as much exercise on the cruise as I do at home (heat and humidity in Australia, South Pacific etc) and it showed. So back to the regimen!

    Our room the Wolf Den

Carolyn, what a great room. I’ve never been to a Great Wolf Lodge. I think it’s wonderful that they have so many kid friendly areas and things to do, kids and adults.

  16. Good morning and Happy Thursday. It’s a lovely sunny day.

    Terry @smitty34877 please forward this:

Happy Birthday Tana!  Enjoy your special day!

    @MrSnuffleupagus — Bon Voyage!

I was never fond of taffy. Turtles should be celebrated. The MOD sounds good and so does the wine. I’ve never been to Baie Comeau.

Not sure where the day went yesterday but I did have DGD overnight. She left about noon. It used to be that she spent a lot of time with us but now that she is almost 17 only comes every other week or so, mostly for a good meal.

Craig is still in the White Mountains and today they are driving to Pie Town, NM. Yes it’s really a place. There is a famous pie restaurant they have been wanting to visit for a while. Not my idea of fun, driving 2 hours just for pie, but they all enjoy driving.

Pennie @Nickelpenny, I admire your fortitude and do it yourself-ness. I’ve had mornings when I wonder what day it is and worry if I’m supposed to be somewhere. If you would like the name of the doctor please email me and I’ll give you more info.

I am thinking about making a spinach quiche today. I think I have all the ingredients. I’m sort of home bound, Craig doesn’t want me driving the old car anymore d/t all the repairs it needs. I could walk to the grocery store but don’t really want to. I think I’m also going to watch Call the Midwife today. I have saved it just for a day like today.

Jacqui @kazu, I gasped when I read Ivan was attacked by another dog and shocked that the owner was so rude to you. I hope he is okay. Also, I’ve been praying about your foot and hope things improve.

Gerry @ger_77,  great news about Maurice!  Also I’m not surprised about the antibiotics and dental work. Any amount of dental work “kicks” up all kinds of germs and can cause infections, especially dangerous for people with heart issues.

    Have a great day!

  17. Good morning and Happy Tuesday. It’s a bright sunshiny day.

Yesterday DM had a dental appointment and always takes antibiotics prior to the appointment. Somehow the home health must have discarded what she had left and she called the dentist office. They wanted her to come in Asap to take it there so that was a scramble to get ready quickly and pick her up. I ended up running errands since the wait was longer. We went to lunch at a seafood restaurant because we wanted lobster but I was also craving meat so ordered surf and turf with a filet as the turf. What came was not edible and not a filet. After alerting our server the manager came over and said he inspects all the beef each day, and even though he never said it I knew he didn’t believe me nor think I knew what I was talking about. I was beyond irritated. Goodness, it wasn’t even cut like a filet. After offers of a new steak I just asked for the steak charge to be taken off. Turns out they couldn’t do that so we ended up getting the entire entree taken off. Then, a new steak shows up, and it’s a filet!  Soft as butter and cooked perfectly. We packaged it up and I’m having it for lunch today. I am still ticked off about the whole thing. I’m going to write the restaurant and tell them that this manager not only needs better customer service skills but needs to go to cooking school and learn more about cuts of meat.

Okay, sorry, off my soapbox. I hope everyone has a great day!
