  1. This week has been a big fundraising week for the Special Olympics. They have been having Polar Plunges all over the country to raise money. The Penguin Plunge is scheduled for noontime today at Hampton Beach with a costume parade of the participants at 11:30. They are gathered at the Ashworth Hotel and will be parading to the water. Hampton Beach can have some interesting sites on a regular beach day, so the costumes could be fun. Last I saw, they had over 700 registered to take the plunge. Here is a link if anyone is interested in the craziness. https://hamptonbeach.org/beach-cam/
  2. I am watching for the commercials. There is a Dunkin Donuts commercial that features Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez that was shot at a Dunkins in a suburb of Boston a few weeks ago. Affleck worked the drive thru window for about an hour giving out free coffee to unsuspecting people. It was all over the local news. There is also a Sam Adams commercial that was shot all over Boston spoofing all of the local stereotypes. I saw a preview of it and it looks really funny. Rob Gronkowski kicking a field goal should be interesting too.
  3. LOL Don't change what I say by cherry picking a quote. I find it interesting that the medicine they push is one that contains a decongestant that many people can not take. They did not have just a cough suppressant.
  4. Thanks for sharing your list. Definitely not something I could do. The decongestants alone would have my heart racing, even though I don't have high blood pressure. It is interesting though because the ship's medical center always pushes Dayquil if you have any cough, whether you are seeing them for covid, the flu, bronchitis or an unknown respiratory virus (all of which I have been treated for on a cruise before 😄).
  5. We usually come in the night before just in case. We have driven the morning of the cruise once but it makes for a long day since we are up by 5am. We would likely stay a couple of nights in NYC as we haven't been since before covid.
  6. We like sailing from Bayonne too because it is less than a four hour drive. Haven't sailed from NYC yet but want to try it at least once. Parking was one of the considerations which is why we would likely fly, so wouldn't have to deal with car. Train might be something to consider too! I haven't taken AMTRAK in a long time. Will have to check it out.
  7. I need to call and get Captain's Club numbers so I can see the correct pricing. We typically sail in May for our anniversary, so that is why we grabbed Oasis. Hopefully, we will do something late summer on Summit.
  8. Royal Caribbean has regular ice cream in the WJ a lot. Anthem used to have it at the dessert station on the left, with someone scooping and some toppings. We have seen an ice cream cart go around the WJ at dinner on Radiance class ships many times. Lots of toppings to make sundaes. This has been on Alaska and NE/Canada cruises.
  9. Our October cruise on Oasis was packed too but we are going to give it one more shot. Seeing as we are going in May, lots of schools will still be in session. Rollcall looks to have mostly little kids. We are also going a GS, so will hide in CK and SL if necessary. Part of this is actually a trip to my Mom's house just south of Port Canaveral. We are going to be bringing a bunch of her stuff home as we don't think she will be going to Florida anymore. We actually tried to get her to come with us and go see some of her friends but she declined. I had two connecting GS, but she thinks it would be too much for her. We will be boarding ship with two suitcases and likely leaving with about six!
  10. Yes, you can gamble at 18 except for Alaska cruises which are 21.
  11. We are going to look at Celebrity Summit since it will be sailing from Cape Liberty, but 9 day cruises can be tough workwise for my DH. That's why I just booked Oasis again, 7 days, Sunday to Sunday works better until he retires, which is still years away.
  12. I don't even think the ranger cookies are as good as they used to be, they seem different. The oatmeal raisin cookies are usually good and the ones with the white chocolate and dried cranberries. The coconut macaroons in the gluten free section of the WJ on Anthem have become my coconut favorites!
  13. My only NCL cruise was on the Dawn, I think, right after it had been rehabbed. I was only on it for my Mom's 80th, she wanted Bermuda, Royal rarely does Bermuda from Boston. I would try NCL again, if I could get DH to give it a go. I have him convinced to try Celebrity, so not going to push another line just yet. 😇
  14. Too many desserts are made with gelatin instead of using cream to thicken things. Cream would enhance the flavors as well as give structure to desserts. Gelatin just gives them structure to cut and serve, no flavor.
  15. You will find out what time you are going once you meet your tour guide. We were supposed to be leaving the hotel around 7am for ours but didn't leave until almost 8. It will all be outlined to you once you start your cruise tour.
  16. It is very interesting that Sandy is so down on Fraser yet any interview you see with Lee, he praises Fraser constantly.
  17. @Momof3gurlzThanks for sharing your thoughts on NCL. I have only done one NCL cruise and I hate that beverage package that is one of the "Free" choices. They require all in the same cabin to get the same free options, so I had no choice but to get that beverage package and then pay the $200+ gratuity for the "free" choice. It was a girls cruise for my Mom's 80th, so I had to go with what the group was doing. I would have been fine with it if I could get bottled water or soda but those weren't included. 🙄
