  1. I've had good luck with the shoreside concierges. All my requests were transmitted to the ships. Also, the butlers and the Retreat concierges have been very helpful with anything needed on board.
  2. Congratulations to Jeremy for finally kicking the habit. A cruise as a reward is definitely a good thing.
  3. Your butler is there to take care of you and make your cruise more enjoyable. The good ones will recognize that if you have a drink package, there is no reason not to keep your refrigerator stocked, even though that is not official "policy" in the lower suites. They make a living by earning good tips, so it is in their best interest to do a good job taking care of you.
  4. I posted all the MDR menus on Host Andy's site on that page we can't mention here. From my 10-night cruise on the Constellation in January.
  5. Kathy, that ship has sailed, so to speak. YC prices have drastically increased. I haven't sailed with them since the pandemic, but I'm not liking the pricing I'm seeing. And their food and service in the YC was never as good as Celebrity's used to be. And I agree with your comment re farmed seafood--yuck! I never order that stuff on the ship.
  6. The captain does not control the balconies. Those cabins have a window which can be lowered if it is not locked by the captain. A window that goes up and down is far different from a balcony.
  7. I cruised on the Connie in January. Look at the Daily for information on a solo gathering the first night. I met several fun people and we ended up having dinner together most nights.
  8. One video was all I needed to see. As I said, I could not sail in that cabin. For those who can, fine. Thanks to those who posted the videos so that we can all make our own decisions.
  9. It will work just fine. I depend on this thread to let me know about new PUP opportunities since my e-mails about them ceased some time ago.
  10. That's the only video I've seen. I'm grateful to the person who posted it because there is no way I could live in that cabin. I'd rather pay a few dollars more and have adequate closet and drawer space. Not to mention floor space.
  11. Yacht Club prices definitely look better than Celebrity's current suite prices. But MSC's itineraries are same old, same old. Only thing interesting is their private island. And I've never been a fan of 7-night cruises. So, given the choice between those two, I'll probably stick with Celebrity.
  12. Thanks for your review. I've also had Prez as my butler on the Summit--he's great. He had been our cabin attendant in the PH previously--I was very glad to see that he got promoted. You should have mentioned the temperature issue to him--perhaps there was a separate thermostat in the bedroom. I agree, that tub/shower combo is a no go. I have to do at least a royal suite on M class for a separate shower.
  13. I was wondering if you would report on that. The name certainly doesn't sound very enticing.
  14. Yes, it was a nice change from all the chocolate. I love chocolate as much as the next person, but in small amounts!
  15. Blu is quite strict about not allowing guests who are not in AQ to dine there (with the exception of suites, which does not apply to OP's father-in-law). Any chance you can change your cabin to a balcony and thus save some money that you could use for a dinner with your FIL in a specialty restaurant? That's certainly what I would do in this case. It may even be possible to get adjoining cabins. Seems to me the idea is to spend time together. You can do Blu some other time. The location of his muster station will be shown on the back of his cabin door and on his sea pass. Help him do the video on your phone or his phone and then help him get checked in at his muster station. It's easy if you've done the phone thing.
  16. Interesting. Maria was my assistant butler on my first YC cruise and a butler on the second.
  17. Thanks for your comparison of MSC YC and Celebrity suites. I've done both. On MSC Seaside when it was new and on M & S class Celebrity ships. While many things were better in the MSC YC, the food was mediocre and I wasn't impressed with the service. I have always been wowed by the service in Celebrity suites. And lately, I haven't found the prices on MCS YC to be a much better deal than Celebrity. One thing I very much dislike about MSC is that my Diamond status will expire if I don't cruise every three years. My Zenith status with Celebrity doesn't expire. Looking forward to your future cruise reports! And please post the link to your MSC review here on the Celebrity board somewhere. I very rarely check the MSC boards.
  18. The poster is not over fixating on this. The first and third balconies off the hump are 3X a normal balcony. The second and fourth are 2X. There is quite a difference.
  19. Just because your very close friends said that was how things worked on Carnival and Cunard does not mean that's how it works on Celebrity.
  20. I believe that the cabin attendant and the butler get to keep the extra cash tips IF you have left the auto tips in place. I think, for the waiters, it depends on the dining room. I know for sure that they pool in Luminae and Blu. Not sure about the MDR or specialty restaurants.
  21. I noticed that right away. It was one of my favorites. Sad to see it go.
