  1. Thanks for your comparison of MSC YC and Celebrity suites. I've done both. On MSC Seaside when it was new and on M & S class Celebrity ships. While many things were better in the MSC YC, the food was mediocre and I wasn't impressed with the service. I have always been wowed by the service in Celebrity suites. And lately, I haven't found the prices on MCS YC to be a much better deal than Celebrity. One thing I very much dislike about MSC is that my Diamond status will expire if I don't cruise every three years. My Zenith status with Celebrity doesn't expire. Looking forward to your future cruise reports! And please post the link to your MSC review here on the Celebrity board somewhere. I very rarely check the MSC boards.
  2. The poster is not over fixating on this. The first and third balconies off the hump are 3X a normal balcony. The second and fourth are 2X. There is quite a difference.
  3. Just because your very close friends said that was how things worked on Carnival and Cunard does not mean that's how it works on Celebrity.
  4. I believe that the cabin attendant and the butler get to keep the extra cash tips IF you have left the auto tips in place. I think, for the waiters, it depends on the dining room. I know for sure that they pool in Luminae and Blu. Not sure about the MDR or specialty restaurants.
  5. I noticed that right away. It was one of my favorites. Sad to see it go.
  6. Well, I'm definitely not limber, so maybe that's a no go for me. Thanks for the info.
  7. Once upon a time I got the PUP e-mails, but then they mysteriously stopped, so I depend on this thread to let me know when there's an offer. Amazingly, that has not stopped the torrent of other e-mails I get from Celebrity every day.
  8. Thank you. My main concern was access to the tub/shower thing. Not ideal as I prefer a separate shower, but it appears to be doable.
  9. Could you take a photo of the bathroom in your sky suite please? Need to know about the tub/shower combo. Thanks.
  10. I just booked a cruise through a TA with a group. He immediately advised me of my specific cabin. I wouldn't want to book with a TA that can't do that. I'm very fussy about cabin location.
  11. You are able to host anyone you wish for dinner. Check with your butler to see which restaurants you may order from. I suspect it may vary by ship. Or butler. I've done it before, but that was long before suites had their own dining room.
  12. Forget the Seafood and Lobster Pappardelle. Had it on the Connie this month. No discernable lobster present.
  13. I actually grabbed two out of the bin instead of waiting for fresh ones because it was the last day and I was in a hurry. They were crisp and good. I was surprised. Sometimes I don't think they cook them long enough.
  14. I only sail in top suites when the price is right. It wasn't for this cruise. I was in a concierge cabin.
  15. Well, if you think you're going to get better food and service in the MDR, knock yourself out. In my experience, that is not the case.
  16. I'm just off ten nights on the Connie. I found the breakfast offerings to be the same as usual. And yes, there were waffles. With my favorite orange butter. The thing I noticed about lunch was that the Mexican station was gone. But there was still plenty to choose from. I'm really getting tired of reading all these doom and gloom posts!
  17. There were no afternoon tea items available in the buffet on the Connie this month.
  18. I doubt it. They either have the prime rib on board or they don't.
  19. We're only discussing the embarcation day lunch here.
  20. If you're in a suite, you have no need of the MDR luncheon. You will have lunch in Luminae.
  21. Yes, if anyone figures out how to do this, I would also love to know!
  22. I still cruise mostly with Celebrity because of the wonderful staff and the smoke-free indoors. Just off the Constellation and, while there were food cuts, I didn't starve. Mostly good beef dishes are gone. The one offputting thing is their current suite prices--that may send me back to Yacht Club on MSC. I did not have a suite on my recent cruise and the lack of a butler or suite concierge to solve my mobility issues was very apparent. So my debarcation was a bit hard until I ran into a wonderful guy on shore who, when we could not find a porter, pushed me to my car in the remote parking lot (together with my luggage). I will be forever grateful for that kindness!
  23. If you don't want to run into the crowds in the GenPop (as Yacht Clubbers call the rest of the ship), wait until they have all gone ashore and then go explore the rest of the ship. If you're going to the show, you will be escorted by a butler.
