  1. As everyone else said don't leave the airport. Isn't it three hour check in for international flights. I would take the Air NZ flight from GC (? direct) to Auckland rather than Qantas via Sydney. Can you elaborate where you are catching this Qantas Flight from and the times. My neighbour, a pilot, was horrified when he saw the official connection times I was given for a flight from Brisbane via Sydney, for an overseas flight.
  2. I have only cruised on one Celebrity ship, Celebrity Century, from Auckland to Sydney and I really liked that ship.
  3. Yes it is a very popular region for small ship cruising, with passengers exploring further afield in smaller boats.
  4. My memory must be playing tricks on me. I know we always came back with eight suitcases full of bargain purchases, with everything made in USA.
  5. Doesn't sound like a fair system for those loyal passengers who aren't tech savvy. I just go and have a cup of coffee and come back later as I have no patience for queues.
  6. What is the current situation re your ship getting into Broome tomorrow? I have my fingers crossed for you!
  7. We flew to Sydney from Brisbane to fly overseas for years. Now we fly direct from GC or Brisbane. What cruise lines didn't anticipate was the current high cost of airfares to Brisbane also that people let their passports expire because of Covid. No-one thought it would take so long to renew a passport. In addition, some cruise lines were slow getting firm information out on their cruises, and people had made other plans. These are different times for everyone!
  8. When I first visited the USA I got $1.45US for my Aussie $1. Now I get .62c US for my Aussie $1.That is why cruise lines which charge in $US in Aust are not popular with Aussies!
  9. Sad thing is it is not much of a beach either. Lovely lagoon popular with backpackers. Love the drive north of Airlie Beach.
  10. We used to always fly overseas from Sydney Then we were able to fly overseas from Brisbane. Brisbane has the advantage of being closer to SEAsia, FNQ PNG and South Pacific With less annual leave for workers.
  11. The current passport renewal delays and the increased cost of domestic airfares are problems cruise lines couldn’t have anticipated. I do think when timed return to normal Brisbane is the perfect spot for a cruise hub in the South Pacific islands and PNG and northern Australia. I just read that passengers should buy their airfares from cruiselines.
  12. What a beautiful creative tart! Is that your handiwork? You are privileged Les
  13. Yes, but that would be a long day trip. But we drive to Sydney in a day, with free accommodation and parking, at the end.
