  1. Everything plus all that stated above. We also prefer the more formal nature and European outlook of the line. There is and has been a more cosmopolitan mix of guests on SS than that found on the more American oriented lines. Bear in mind this is a personal opinion.
  2. With regard to the original question as posed on this board, the answer is still no.
  3. Not a hope in hell. That’s insufficient for a transfer in the same terminal at Heathrow!
  4. We were on the 22WC and didn’t know we needed a visa until joining the ship in Cape Town. After a lot of to and fro between the ships finance officer, SS Head Office and the port agent in Jeddah, it was determined that we would be ok with a transit visa. It was a bit of a slow process, requiring 4 individual Credit Card payments and took about an hour to process two of us. Hope that helps.
  5. The OP didn’t mention Antarctica.
  6. You should be aware that there is nothing for a 5 year old to do on a Silversea ship, there are no specialist staff or facilities. SS also attracts an older generation of clients who generally travel on up market cruise ships without children.
  7. Isnt Norman onboard to fix issues like that? 😎
  8. He is definitely a myth and also definitely not Mythsty.
  9. Or the Spirit, but then neither of them are new.
  10. Why? There is already S.A.L.T. and La Dame on the new ships.
  11. A photo of the new cast and set up crew on the Shadow courtesy of Tony H on ‘V’
  12. World Cruise news flash, entertainment goes ‘Back to the Future’ with the introduction of the Silversea Ensemble on the Shadow. Three male and three female dancers and two vocalists with a 4 piece live band. So no more crappy backing tracks and welcome to an updated version of what Jean Ann Ryan was doing all those years ago before the Artists came along.
  13. Ouch!, those are the sort of poor speeds Standard Wifi has been providing for the last 3 years! Hope your cold has improved.
  14. I’ve checked it on the Whisper, Shadow and Moon over the last year or so, standard, averages about 1.5MB download, maybe 2 in the middle of the night. Premium, anywhere between 2.5MB and as high as 4. It’s not wonderful, but it’s better than nothing. BTW I have not yet had to pay for premium.
  15. Thanks for taking the time post @ronrick1943, it’s always useful to get different opinions, especially from newbies.
  16. The whole point of SS is that you spend extra money purely for suite space and perhaps position. The ‘perks’ for an Owners Suite such as included dinner in La Dame and premium Wifi are available to others if you wish to pay for them. You shouldn’t get better service just because you paid for more space. Unless I’m mistaken @ronrick1943didn’t say he paid again for La Dame.
  17. National Health Service without the service. As in when ours is mostly on strike.
  18. This should be deducted from your booking cost and not applied as OBC. You should insist on it being applied correctly!
