JamieLogical's Live from the MSC Meraviglia 4/9 (semi-B2B)
Essiesmom replied to JamieLogical's topic in MSC Cruises
I don’t think you will see much, if any, from port side. You need to be forward or starboard . Here is a map of the harbor. Where it says Red Hook is where your ship will be docked. To the west (left) is the Statue of Liberty island. Most ships dock with the port side against the dock, so they can pull straight out. If they dock with the starboard side against the dock, and have to back out and turn, you would have a view. maybe Jamie can tell us how the ship was docked. EM -
The only new ‘topic’ you should be posting on the roll call board would be a new roll call. Other posts/topics would be within your roll call, or on the main board here for that cruise line. EM

First MSC Cruise on Seaside. Top 3 Things I Should Know.
Essiesmom replied to CruisingWalter's topic in MSC Cruises
There are two buffets on Seaside. The smaller one on deck 16 was my favorite for breakfast, not so busy. On Seaside you will have to insert your card into the slot by the door to turn on the lights. Has to be your ship card, other cards won’t work. But on Seaside class ships you can get a bracelet from Guest Services (in 2019 it cost $5) that will do everything but check you off the ship and back on in ports. It’s an interesting design, be sure to wander and check out all the nooks and crannies. -
Island Princess: Viewing spots for Panama Canal transit
Essiesmom replied to coco2/27's topic in Princess Cruises
There is a person on the Celebrity board doing a Live From as Millennium does the canal today, westbound. He has posted a ton of pictures, and those showing the locks ahead as you enter the canal are priceless, to show you what you will be missing if you stay on your aft facing balcony. EM -
I consider them a good brand, one I would like to sail if my budget could support it. I actually had a TA booked, as it was a bargain, but it was Covid cancelled. You might do some reading on the board here for Windstar, under Cruise Lines P-Z. EM

I doubt there will be any difference in activities for young people between the ships. For a world cruise, the demographic skews older and well traveled. No doubt there are blogs from this years cruises. You might ask your question on the Cunard board, too. EM

En Route with Hank in Japan and the Westerdam
Essiesmom replied to Hlitner's topic in Holland America Line
Hank, since you like pizza so much, I believe you should contact Bill and Mary Ann, currently on the World Cruise, as they are always looking for pizza in port. Get them to give you a list of the best pizza places they have found in distant ports. EM -
My go to website is cruisetimetables.com, and it looks like those sailing from Barbados are British and European lines that typically are fly/cruise packages, plus the premium/luxury lines with small ships calling at islands that don’t have much to offer besides beaches. I did see a few open jaw cruises to Miami on Explora 1, the first ship is MSCs new luxury cruise branch. I didn’t see any voyages for the US centric mass market cruise lines. EM

She does a repo TA to get to Europe for the drydock when the funnel will be fixed. Guess you can’t just order the parts from Amazon…. EM -
Your baby has to be six months old to sail. At that age, why are you still sterilizing bottles? 40 years ago, when I taught prenatal classes, we told our moms that running them through the dishwasher was good enough, and if you had city water, you didn’t need to boil it. So rinsing them is very hot water in the sink should do it. EM

The Sweet 16 cabins have the double balcony, but you will be lucky to get three chairs, much less a lounger. Plus the balcony partitions do not open/connect.
