Detractors of the Infinite verandah cabins on the Edge class ships of Celebrity would say that those are nothing but OV cabins with a window that opens. But in reality, it has been generations since the portholes opened on any cruise ship or liner. EM

Can you leave cruise one stop before the end? (in Europe)
Essiesmom replied to dingdong70's topic in Celebrity Cruises
There will not be any customs or immigration because you are already in the Schengen area. EM -

Train transfer from Captain Cook hotel to Whittier
Essiesmom replied to madre2's topic in Princess Cruises
There will likely be a paper with instructions and luggage tags when you check in. EM -
Why do you prefer deck 8? Granted, it’s just one flight of stairs up to the buffet and pool, but under the pool area and Serenity area is likely to be noisy, probably the best bet there would be under the spa. Since your departure is from Seattle you will be going west of Vancouver island and far from land, so not much to see. Once you get to the inside passage, there will be views and wildlife on both sides, so cabin location is irrelevant. When glacier viewing the ship rotates so every one gets a view, although it is guaranteed that any calving or wildlife will happen on the opposite side of the ship from your balcony. I would book a balcony on deck 4 so a short jog down to the external promenade deck. But in fact, my two Alaska cruises on Princess have been in inside cabins, total of 28 days. EM

Best sail away to enjoy the Ultimate Balcony Dinner?
Essiesmom replied to canadarocks's topic in Princess Cruises
How early did you book the breakfast for, and how long does it take? Unless you have booked it for really early, you will miss much of the approach and transit of the Cocoli Locks by sitting on your balcony, port side does not have the views until you exit through the Agua Clara Locks. but there is more to it than that. Seeing the lock gates open and close, the ship rising in the locks. You want to be moving around the ship. You will probably be out of the last locks and going under the Atlantic Bridge by 1600 so maybe it might be a good day for the UBD. Do the breakfast another day. Or switch to a starboard cabin… these views are of Emerald P. And her transit April 4: -

That was early 50s, before TVs were standard in motel rooms. We didn’t even have one at home. I was in 6th grade before we got a TV, and I was out of college before my father bought a color TV. EM

It’s 100% better than not going at all. EM

Does the nightlight work? The bathrooms on Divina and Seaside the outlet was not live unless the light switch was on, defeating the purpose of the nightlight. ( not YC. )EM

A little reading on this board, particularly Live from threads, and reports of cruises, will answer most of your questions, pictures included. Entertainment is mostly musical, as with perhaps half of the guests from Europe a comedian would be lost on many. I have not sailed in the Yacht Club, but reports are that it is closest to the NCL Haven, but better and less expensive. EM

Morbid, indeed. I think I would put them on a no sail list. EM

Ship leaves at 4:00pm, what time do we have to be onboard?
Essiesmom replied to Luvtennis6060's topic in Princess Cruises
30 minutes prior is for port calls. Generally you must be checked in and onboard 60 minutes before scheduled departure. EM -
Those were the same motels where you put a quarter in to watch an hour of TV…. EM

Viking Ship Juniper - Are rooms above the restaurant noisy?
Essiesmom replied to Sariya's topic in Viking Ocean
Do you perhaps mean Jupiter? Best place to ask this is on the board here for Viking Ocean. EM -
I mix my cruises up, opportunity…my last Celebrity was a 2 day in Jan 2019, got off the ship and went to Carnival for a further 8 days. Did. 4 day Carnival last March and again this March. I do have a Celebrity booked for June, and MSC for August. Just accept that Carnival is busier than Celebrity. Food is good, maybe not great. It’s a bargain for me because I can drive 2 hours to the port. Enjoy Carnival for what it is. I don’t like the huge ships, so I haven’t sailed the Vista or Excel classes, nor do I plan to. EM

All of the ships from Dream class forward have cove balconies. Firenze is sister to Venezia, which will be sailing her Carnival inaugural the end of this month. There is at least one member @IntrepidFromDCDoing a Live from. Perhaps you could ask on his thread if he could check them out. EM

On cruisedeckplans these cabins on deck 2 on the Costa plans are classified as cove balconies. EM

Celebrity Summit- how bad are the mattresses?
Essiesmom replied to SPacificbound's topic in Celebrity Cruises
I really need a very soft mattress due to an arthritic back and bony hips. Do the stewards have egg crates if you ask? If not, I can bring my own. Last time I cruised, I stayed in a hotel the night before and the bed was so bad it took two days to loosen up the screaming muscles, after a nearly sleepless night. I have taken to sleeping in a recliner at home. EM -
On our Solstice TA a number of years ago, there was a man talking about investing, the head man of SETI (Search for extraterrestrial intelligence) and Nigel West (author, On Her Majesty’s Secret Service) speaking in military intelligence (espionage, spying). The only speaker I remember on Millie in the Baltic in 2000 was the cruise director. He claimed to have studied marine biology, but after listening to one talk, I gathered he hadn’t graduated…. EM

This is not always correct. If you are booking far enough out they will. A couple of weeks ago I managed to book as a solo for a 3 day in August on Seaside. A couple of months ago, I had a chat with MSC about this, and a few days later for a call from a fellow named Vladimir who said he was now my rep. So I put him in my contacts. Then I got calls and e-mails from at least two ladies. The day after I booked the 3 day cruise. I got a call from one of the women. The phone still says Vladimir it I know it is MSC. Anyway, she had no idea I was already booked, but I said I was interested in booked the previous 4 day. She was able to do it. Both are inside gty, and she said they would try to link them so I get the same cabin. EM
