  1. Celebrity allows change of 1 name on the reservation up to about a week before sailing. There may be a nominal charge for this but I'm sure would be waived under the circumstances. I believe if she just shows up alone for Celebrity the second passenger taxes/fees just get refunded. I'm not totally sure what happens if the reservation is changed in advance to 1 passenger but I'm sure someone here will have more advise.
  2. If booked directly through Celebrity, otherwise they direct you to your TA.
  3. Aft balcony and the inside across the hallway. Stay away from deck 9 if you can as the oceanview outdoor dining and bar are directly above. We love SV on deck 8. The concierge on deck 6 are ok. They are about 1 foot wider than other cabins and the balcony is deep but nowhere as deep as the SV. The extra Concierge perks are not worth it. The SV cabin used to be Concierge so is larger than standard verandah rooms on this ship around 191 sq ft + balcony.
  4. I guess Celebrity didn't get to #14 14. More cruise travelers plan to book longer cruises for their next holiday with 43% saying they plan to book a longer cruise and 43% saying they plan to book a similar- length cruise.
  5. @chengkp75 As always thank you for the information you provide. I always assume when I see Taxes and Fees that the Taxes are actual required payments by the government and fees are a bit more fuzzy and can be manipulated for profit. Like dealer prep/documentation fees!
  6. Thank you for taking my request the right way and for an excellent answer. I think many of us at the higher levels of loyalty programs are being incentivized by the cruise lines to branch out.
  7. You are still charged the gratuity amount. It's just charged to your seapass card vs being bundled in your fare. Moves the cost to an onboard amount which new cruisers will probably not be aware of so makes the initial cruise price seem lower and more competitive. Of course they do allow them to be removed but we all know that's not right if you have any concern for the crew at all.
  8. You must have been pretty happy with Princess. May I ask why you are looking at Celebrity now?
  9. No I don't want to deal with Celebrity, my agent does that for me. He also adds around 8% of the total cruise price as refundable OBC which he allows me to deduct from final payment. So thousands of dollars is why I do it. Some TAs also have group rates which can be more advantageous as well. Booking onboard give you the reduced deposit and the bonus OBC from Celebrity.
  10. Celebrity Elite get unlimited drinks from the Captains Club menu at most bars from 5-7 nightly except for embarkation day. In the past there were mixed results with people trying to go from Classic Alcohol package to the premium non-alcohol package which is similar to what you are wanting to do.
  11. I did notice they also offer bag with wash and press service for $49 with the flash sale going on now.
  12. I have to say that I have booked flights with FBC for 2 sailings next year. In the last couple of weeks I had to contact them a couple of times. 1) Had an AA flight change which changed my 1 stop to 2 stops. Rather than wait 30-60 days as stated in the email I called. A couple minute wait and a lovely agent who moved me to a 1 stop United flight for $100 less pp. 2) Called to book flight for a sailing at the 330 day mark. Celebrity had my desired flight but almost $2k pp more than on the AA site. Again very short hold time and another kind agent answered, gathered my info and presented me with her choice. I asked if they had the AA flights and she quoted me the HIGH price on the FBC website. I told her the price on the AA site and asked her about their advertised best price gty. She responded that the AA price was non-refundable which was correct so I gave her the refundable price which was $200 more. She put me on hold and came back in about 2 minutes with my desired flights, refundable for $5 less than the non-refundable price on the AA site. I generally don't do FBC but given the current airline pricing I'm taking advantage of the pay later and will take my chances with any hiccups. I found both agents knowledgeable and efficient, making sure everything was taken care of and correct before hanging up.
  13. I think they do have some hourly internet onboard but it's obscenely expensive.
  14. At the top of your invoice under the reservation number the specific category booked is listed. Since you said inside it should be I1 or I2. If it was a GTY (guarantee) it would be "Z" and should say guaranty or GTY in the description. Guaranty staterooms, you allow the cruise line to assign whatever room they want generally for a reduced fare. From your description I doubt you have a GTY rate. With I1 or I2 you can select whatever available cabin you want in the category you booked.
  15. The key is to get a boarding time on the earlier side as the Concierge lunch is only served until 1:30. You select your boarding time when you do online checkin. Online checkin opens exactly 45 days from embarkation. It opens at midnight in the time zone where the ship embarks. Usually if you do checkin in the first 12 hrs you should be able to select a time at 12 or before.
  16. Yes they never ever used to do this. There was a thread about a month ago where people going to Bermuda were getting the T/F changed. I wonder what they would do if you asked for an itemized breakdown of those T/F. I think they would have to give it to you like the airlines do.
  17. No you need to call back. If they try this again ask for a supervisor. You can reprice to prevailing rates at any time before final payment. Even if you have a Non-refundable deposit. You are not rebooking you are repricing the existing reservation. You mentioned cabin being assigned. Was this a GTY rate? If so as long as the new rate is also a GTY you should be able to reprice. It's possible your cabin would be released and you would go back into the pool for re-assignment but I doubt it.
  18. This is too funny. About 10 years ago we were all lamenting the fact that they had short ribs and were doing lots of braised meats (Crock Pot) over the quality beef entrees they had before.. Now we are missing them.
  19. @SactoSkip Most coffee/teas are included in the Classic package.
  20. From the original post I thought they were say sale on cruise prices. Glad I came back to this and determined it's Cruise Planner sale. I rebooked both shore excursions I had for Norway next year saving over $200.
  21. @mnocket As long as you reprice before Oct 4 AI will still include gratuities.
  22. If they sold hundreds they should have got rid of gelato and put in a bigger cookie oven! Other than the free scoops for CC members how much gelato do they sell?
  23. Looks like the same promo as last week. https://creative.rccl.com/Sales/Celebrity/General_Info/Special_Offers/CEL_09_07_23_August_Offer-Consumer.pdf To me the one today and tomorrow is better with $200 off vs $200 OBC. https://creative.rccl.com/Sales/Celebrity/General_Info/Special_Offers/CEL_Aug_Cyber-Nights_Consumer-Flyer.pdf
  24. I've recently used it for 2 sailings. First is a TA next March Tampa to Barcelona. Looking at one way Premium Economy flights with the airline they were over $3k ( way more than the cruise!). I generally use SWA for East Coast flights so wasn't worried about RDU->TPA leg. When for grins I added the leg to Tampa as an open jaw the price came down to less than $1100. Delta to TPA and BA/AA back from BCN I booked via FBC. Later the return flight from BCN changed from one stop to 2. I got a message from FBC about the change and said time to process flight changes at least 30 days. I called the same day, short wait time < 5 minutes and agent promptly moved me to a United flight 1 stop at a lower price. Just this week flights opened for my B2B sailings out of Southampton in June/July. Called with my desired flights. They were showing significantly higher than the AA website. I asked about their best price guarantee. After a bit of back and forth and a brief hold the agent came back with the flights I wanted at the AA price, actually refundable at the non-refundable fare. I have seats assigned on all these flights, you have to ask at the time as they seem to want you to go to the airline site to do it. I know for a fact that AA won't let you do it on their website until the reservation is ticketed but the FBC agent can do it. Another Con is after final payment, any change or cancellation FBC accesses a charge of $200 pp above and beyond any airline charges.
  25. That's because the new policy doesn't go into effect for at least another 30 days. If you were to book today or next week the listed T&C are accurate.
