  1. We typically take the unlimited dining package- if you are having a problem with the website, just call and all of the rates and information will be provided. We really enjoy dining at the specialty restaurants nightly- service excellent and we rotate restaurants depending upon our itinerary. As soon as you board, go to one of the kiosks for dining and make your daily reservations. They will help you with specifics. I believe the first night is booked for you, but you are free to make changes based on time and availability.
  2. what about the seniors who have poor bladder control? that is why I am not fond of of hot tubs and pools on board. However they use so many chemicals it helps to protect us. Then we get UTI's from the chemicals.
  3. Haven't been fans of blu in years. tables weren't private for two. A row of tables just a foot apart . People chime in private conversations. Also food blah. If we aren't in a suite now, we would take a well located balcony cabin and dine in specialty restaurants nightly. So much better. We used the Spa facilities once- and do not care for the "perks" in the room. The atomizer smells and is terrible for my allergies- the tea not to our liking- The shower head not worth it! Also, typically we get a better located balcony cabin. This is my opinion others might disagree.
  4. She is extremely independent. Talks to people around her regardless of their age. Not the teen club type.
  5. That’s why if we weren’t in a suite or balcony cabin we stayed in Central Park
  6. Our grandaughter age 16, loves sushi- we do not eat- she had lunch daily at the restaurant- no problem. If they question you, bring him in and then leave.
  7. Thanks- but probably too late! Guess we are committed! I just know that if I were in a boardwalk room (Oasis class) near a merry go round- I might be very unhappy!!! A gamble for us.
  8. We are currently booked on the Icon for next March. My DH and I really enjoy the suite life and booked a family suite for only the two of us - iThese suites are located in surfside family area, we are on deck 11. I am having second thoughts about the location. I hope not very noisy . We rise early and go to bed typically by 11 PM. The surfside suites were the most cost effective of all of the true suites. Any comments or thoughts?
  9. I agree about older and smaller RC ships. Recently on the Adventure-rust bucket of the seas- in a Jr. Suite- not a great ship. We stick to suite class ( almost always) on Oasis class ships on Royal.
  10. The food so much better IMO in the specialty restaurants, any night for booking them would be great. Enjoy.
  11. Don’t agree. One of my nephews really enjoys carnival. He has sailed in the havana area. He is in his mid twenties. He and his wife have sailed with us on royal and celebrity and advised me that the crowd on carnival were more rowdy then on celebrity. He also said more families were on royal and the entertainment was much better as was the food. Princess in my opinion wasn’t anything special. However I said this was my opinion. People have various opinions and might differ. As I also said we really enjoy celebrity
  12. Nice that we have choice- However, we have tried NCL, unless in the Haven a crowded mess IMO. Princess IMO plain vanilla- Carnival felt like a 24 hour bachelor party, Disney overpriced people in costumes- good for little one's. Celebrity some ships better then Royal- except Royal has all beat with the level of entertainment. Haven't tried MSC but heard very mediocre- and thus far, virgin doesn't seem to our liking-but who knows. All around I will stick to Celebrity and Oasis class on Royal- will be trying Icon next year. Enjoy your cruises.
  13. We have sailed and have multiple cruises booked in the future. We continue to dress formal. Not gowns and Tuxedos, but people still wear, but cocktail party attire. So festive! However you will see some people not dressed up at all-
  14. As preiously stated, I would book asap. If the price decreases, cancel and rebook- check often. Since the cruises are now full, the likelihood of discounts is getting less. In fact, many prices continue to increase.
  15. Had sailed on Carnival- but not for many years now about 5 times. IMO it doesn't compare with Celebrity. We find Celebrity more upscale- the food, service and accomodations so much better on Celebrity- Carnival is as advertised the "fun ship". We found many wild twenty somethings behaving like students on a college campus. Running drunk down the hallways and being very rowdy. While they are trying to up their game- by have special areas, not sure if I would try them again. We love Celebrity- and if with multigenerational family members also love Royal- especially the Oasis class- looking foward to trying the Icon class next year.
  16. From our experience, unless you are bidding on a celebrity suite or higher, you might wind up with a room in a poor location. The best rooms are taken especially now since ships are sailing full. We decided to upgrade from a balcony to a sky suite without the move up and got all the perks and amenities and the location of our choice. We aren’t gamblers
  17. We went in early August- weather was great! I would recommend mid July through mid August. Warm dry weather- only cold weather was by the glaciers. But weather other days was wonderful. Loved sailing out of Vancouver. It is a beautiful city. Enjoy your trip.
  18. My dh is a land lover. Hence no seafood. They do serve a burger but I don’t recall any other non seafood options
  19. I find couch by closet allows easier access to closet. However nice to sit on couch by balxony and have the great view.
  20. While we probably will sail in a sky suite on the Beyond in the future, I must say the suite staff on the apex will be hard to beat. Only negatives IMO is that the suite deck on the apex lacks shade- the Beyond is supposed to have more shaded areas which my DH and I really want. You probably cannot go wrong with either ship. Enjoy your cruise.
  21. I do occasionally bid. However, I have also found that if you book the higher category yourself, prior to the move up bids, you sometimes get a better deal. It also includes the higher level perks and additional cruise points. We just upgraded our January cruise from a balcony to a sky suite and the price, including the perks worked out fine. We also cancelled the perks we paid additional for with the lower category cabin. Hence a refund. In addition, we got a nicer on board credit. So if you truly want an upgrade, consider doing it yourself in advance.
