  1. Absolutely no comparison. With SS, first you get a much larger room. AQ is a balcony stateroom. The SS offers you dining at luminae, which IMO so much better then AQ, we were never impressed with Blu food and close seating. The suite lounge or retreat a wonderful spot on the ship to hang out. You also get butler service. IMO we didn't appreciated the spa freebee's with AQ. In fact used for an hour one sea day- think you can purchase if you like. If you want a Balcony cabin, dine evenings in speciality restaurants with the savings and you will have better food and service.
  2. When we sailed on the edge years ago, a issue with eden was that the lounge didn't have nearly enough seating for the guests. Does the beyond offer enough seating for guests? We will be on the apex in a couple of weeks and we hope so. "assuming" that the Beyond and Apex the same seating.
  3. Thanks for sharing. We haven't been on an m class ship in about 4 years. We used to enjoy the summit out of NJ every summer. However, they no longer sail the dates that we are available. Enjoy your cruise!
  4. My DH enjoys wearing a jacket on chic nights. He wears a tie and jacket to work- but prefers more formal attire on the cruise ship. For us , it is a true celebration of the cruise. However, people should do what makes them comfortable. Also, the ships at night tend to blast the a/c.
  5. We had robes in the room for use on board. The other set of robes are a "gift" from celebrity. Probably only for royal suite and higher guests.
  6. While what you are saying is in jest- really not a bad idea! would be nice if we could all be healthy and live long lives. We have to start somewhere- cigarettes kill , second hand smoke also. It imposes upon bystanders. We can argue about drunk driving, etc. But would be nice to start somewhere.
  7. We love the Silhouette and Reflection- in addition to the edge class ships. We also stayed in a RS. Dominic was also our butler. We love the lawn club grill and dined their a few times- we also enjoyed the Cabana's and booked them for the sea days. While our next three cruises are on the Apex, we will again sail on the Reflection. My only negative comment, is that when we sailed on the Equinox in a Royal Suite , we were both given a monogrammed bath robe to take home. On the Reflection we were given nothing.
  8. For the health of crew and passengers, smoking should be banned on cruise ships. I know this might not be loved by all, it is a healthier option.
  9. The suite deck on the Allure is nice. They have a very good bar, comfortable sun and shade seating- also cabanas- I think four- free, first come basis. While not like the Edge decks- better then the M and S class suite decks on Celebrity ships. They also have a costal kitchen and suite lounge on the Oasis class Royal ships. Enjoy your cruise.
  10. IMO a game. We booked a sky suite about 1 year ago- paid so much less then with the Sale now. They play games by significantly increasing prices, then giving you a discount off of the inflated price. IMO best to book early at least one year in advance then if you want to bid on Move up at the last minute do it.
  11. We had the same complaint on the Adventure of the seas- things were rusty, dirty looking and broken items such as our toilet- coffee machine and in Jr. in diamond lounge. Time to either totally renovate ship, or sell.
  12. We always had our butler empty the cooler and we put in our own water and soft drinks from the retreat lounge. Note that the "refrigerator" isn't a refrigerator- it is a cooler perhaps in the penthouse a true fridge depending upon the ship. If you have medication that needs true refrigeration, tell your butler or room attendant..
  13. Was this breakfast from luminae? Didn't know the retreat serves breakfast? Just though a limited menu lunch.
  14. Thank you for sharing! We will be on the Apex for New Years and be doing a b/2/b. We have sailed on the Edge, but have heard that the suite lounge and deck are much better on the Apex. Looking foward to our cruise in less then three weeks. I am already getting my cruise clothes packed! We like to be ready a few days before as in the Northeast snow happens! Want to be ready to leave asap in the event of a pending snow storm. Do not want to miss our cruise!
  15. Blu doesn't require reservations. Typically a long line begins around opending time. So if you like to dine early and want a good table, you must line up. It gets empty around 7;30 - 8:00 for the late diners. Tables for two are lined up next to each other in rows by the windows- not really private. We typically had the first table for two next to a window. The same most days- We tried to be the first on line.
  16. We always take the photo package- very worthwhile. We take boarding pics, port pics and everyday they have multiple photo stations with various backgrounds around the ship. They also take around the ship candid photos and photos in restaurants. They send you a code to use to retrieve your photos when you arrive home. You can make albums or copies at home- no heavy load of pics to bring home. Also great if you sail with family. However the people/person in the booked cabin must be in the photo along with friends or relatives. enjoy your cruise and your memories of the cruise.
  17. We enjoyed sailing on the Summit a few years ago. Did it multiple times from New Jersey. Was our August no fly cruise for years. However the ship moved and didn't sail the dates we wanted any longer. Was a great ship- nice service and food. Liked the Suite lounge and amenities. Haven't sailed on her in years. Enjoy your cruise. Haven't been on her since the renovations.
  18. We actually got notification when we were on the ship with a couple of move ups. So who knows when you will be notified. When we were notified prior to the cruise, it was good news- once boarded- not. Good luck.
  19. Honestly with over 50 cruises under our belt, we know as much or even more then the TA. I hear other people get onboard credits, free spec. dinners, and at least a bottle of champagne. Ours gave nothing on our past two RC cruises, one in a Crown Loft Suite. . We are even doing a b/2/b in a sky suite, hope she gives us some perks. I assume she is making a healthy commission for us transferring our booked on board sailing to her.
  20. We always prefer the best package that is all inclusive. Easier to use and no "surprises" at the end of the cruise. We sail mostly on Celebrity and take the all included options.
  21. You are lucky. Guess my TA isn't good. She didn't give us any onboard credits- nor a group rate discount. I will consider other options in the future.
  22. We always prebook. You can cancel and rebook if the price changes. Best to book now to secure the rate . Enjoy.
  23. Great news! Enjoy the sky suite and especially Luminae and all of the suite perks! Hope you are as successful for the second leg of your cruise as you will be spoiled.
