  1. That's great hear you got it sorted. Well done for having all the paperwork to hand. You are right. It shouldn't be this difficult. Phil
  2. I'd have to agree with you. Of course, you personally are free to do anything you want with any consequences, but do not publicise it on here as it might get folks in trouble on their cruise. Phil
  3. I think you misunderstood. The "author" I think refers to that of the writer of the Palm Beach Post rather than tgg. Phil
  4. Nobody here or indeed elsewhere is going to be able to answer these questions or put anyones mind at rest. It's unprecedented AFAIK in recent years. There's been the risk of pirate attacks in the area, but this is different and political. Just have to wait and see and trust Azamara to keep everyone safe, which is their first priority. Phil
  5. I've done Antarctica and must admit didn't feel the cold inside around the ship. My veranda cabin was ok for temperature, but I was plagued by rattling balcony dividers the whole trip. I have to say, I'm incredulous at their solution. Duct taping a blanket to the window? Nice view!! It's an amazing itinerary. I hope you get to enjoy it. Phil
  6. Same thing happened to me, but I had two loyalty numbers not three. Do an email to Loyalty@azamara.com and set out what has happened, but don't expect a quick response. It took four mouths for them to reply to mine and correct it. Unless it's going to cause an issue for you I wouldn't even bother chasing. Just keep the email in your pending. Phil
  7. If your kids enjoy the arcades, basketball courts etc of the larger ships I think they will be bored witless on Azamara. Even if the wifi was top quality (which it isn't) there's only so much time you can spend on electronic gaming systems. It's nice to at least be out and about. Seeing other teens (which again is unlikely). Azamara has always been more about the destination, time in ports etc. Not so much the ship. Phil
  8. Hang on a second before you strike fear into people with your experience of one Azamara cruise. In all my cruises with Azamara it has never been an issue. OK, some are better than others (both pre and post covid), but last cruise in July from Athens was a breeze. I was on the ship by 12.30. Latest I think I have ever been let on the ship is 2.30pm. I don't really understand the race to get on the ship. The crew do their best to turn things round on the day. Of course you can't stop those turning up earlier than they should, but there are 700 guests. It's not like a huge mega ship with 1000s. Just chill and look forward to be being pampered for a few days. Phil
  9. My memory fades. It's either old age or living through covid😁 Phil
  10. I don't think I've ever seen the Patio open for lunch on embarkation day. It's a major throughput and with people and their hand luggage passing through, not practical. Phil
  11. And I can think of more than one cruise where we've been led to one of the Specialties and comped on the first night to save waiting in the MDR queue. I've never had an issue either. I won't be booking ahead. Phil
  12. Yes, I did receive it eventually on the 19th October and my travel agent applied it before I had to make final payment this month. It took much more effort than it should have, but after I chased it we got there and I had a nice surprise with how much it was for. My certificate was on Azamara letterhead. Phil
  13. I've stayed in 4068 on Pursuit I think (it was a long time ago) which is the equivalent of 4070 on other ships. My recollection is that they seemed very slightly smaller. The main thing I noticed was the walls were poorly soundproofed. You could easily hear your neighbour. Probably to do with them added on later. The void I believe is crew offices. I never heard a thing from that or above which was the art gallery on Pursuit. Phil
  14. Sorry you've had this news Odd. Very disappointing, especially as a local who had made family plans. It's tough because Norway is a special cruise and there really isn't anything comparible. It's not like you are going to the Med and can pick another. Hopefully you can get something else planned. Phil
  15. You can't do that any longer unfortunately although sometimes it can work in ones favour. We had Darren Lynton as CD on Journey last year. Delighted he'd moved to Quest when we were last on that ship. Azamara don't really like the guests sticking to one ship I feel. I don't really have a problem with it. Azamara have such a good pool of people at all levels. The challenge is to keep them within the company and we've seen a few drift off recently. Phil
  16. To be honest i don't think you'll get a lot of information on this port here. It may be a maiden port for Azamara? Certainly not well used by them. If you want to stay local to this stop then probably Google is your friend. Phil
  17. Sorry to hear this. Hope you get going safely soon. Phil
  18. Unfortunately I'm not and I can't vouch for the size vs your son and you said he's a larger guy. The seats are pretty big to sit on. That's the only advice I can give there. Maybe someone else can chime in. Phil
  19. I think it would work out quite a bit more to do it that way, even an inside because they catch you with the single occupancy supplement. Phil
  20. You need to book one of the cabins with the square on the deck plan (which all have tubs denoted by a triangle that have a shower over). The third bed is actually the chair that converts. This is what you'll have. Phil
  21. Johannes is THE best! Such a great character and always fun to sail with him. Wish I was going along. Enjoy. Phil
  22. I spoke to a friend who is on the ship now and will be doing the ta too and she tells me they are hoping to do White Night on the third or fourth sea day out of Funchal when it should be warmer. Weather and progress dependent of course with final decision down to Captain Johannes 🤞 Phil
  23. Can't use anything but a mouse. The pads just drive me nuts! Phil
  24. I never understood the fuss surrounding the harpist. Saw her and very nice, but insignificant to me. I've always found plenty of live music to listen to around the ship. Phil
