  1. Is it that popular? IMO it makes for good photos in the brochures, but is a waste of space on most cruises I have never seen the Pool Deck pool overloaded on any of the Regent ships Totally agree. Hopefully they will put in some comfy chairs to mimic the area outside the back of the Horizon Lounge on Mariner & Voyager.
  2. If you check-in using only one credit card (in one or other of your names) then the on-board accounts will be linked. Simple to check by looking at your on-board accounts on the TV screen in your suite part way through the cruise. Any issues, then simply call by Reception and they will sort for you.
  3. That is potentially bad news, as you have effectively booked with, and paid, a third party rather than the cruise line. With our U.K. TA the payment always shows as direct to the cruise company. During the pandemic, cancellation refunds that had to come via TAs were very slow, If the TA goes bust then there also could be a problem. Finally, credit card companies are less willing to deal with disputes where payment was made to a third party. With what is going on with Explora you are right to be concerned.
  4. Heather, the FAQs tucked away on the Regent website are very useful: https://www.rssc.com/frequently-asked-questions
  5. You are probably under the Pool Grill tables & chairs; so yes there maybe some noise at times during the day.
  6. No personal experience, but the position of 1010 means it is at risk of noise from above; however, 1010 is an ES not an F1 🤔
  7. No Formal nights on a 14 day cruise, but you are obviously free to be as dressy as you please. On sailings of 16 nights or more, Formal and Semi-Formal attire is optional on two of the evenings.
  8. I believe it refers to the fare code. See previous thread below:
  9. One correction: I believe that the Pool Grill no longer operates in the evening on any of the ships; only open for lunch - until 4pm
  10. Almond croissants 😋 Not available every day; on our last Regent cruise it was Fridays. As with everything on Regent, if you don't see what you are looking for, simply ask 🙂 Standard croissants are good, whether in Compass Rose, La Veranda, Coffee connection or Room Service
  11. This old thread may help; Marc’s timings are probably more accurate Opening times for all restaurants are shown on the back page of Passages
  12. Same for us. Only Seabourn offered ☹️ Thanks for the tip, though, @Techno123
  13. On a seven day cruise we probably would not seek a second reservation in any of the three speciality restaurants, even though we like them all. We would be happy to enjoy the extensive menu in Compass Rose for the other nights on board; with the option to perhaps visit Sette Mari one evening (not our favourite venue)
  14. Are you sure 🤔 We were on Splendor at Christmas. As per Regent policy no water in plastic bottles, just a water refill station next to the gangway. The supplied reusable aluminium bottles themselves are not heavy and can be part filled if you want to reduce weight, but they are a bit large. We normally take smaller refillable bottles with us.
  15. Cygnet is derived from the French and Latin for Swan, apparently 🤔 https://birdfact.com/articles/baby-swans (Google is my friend 😉)
  16. Have you asked Regent which hotel they will be using prior to your cruise? If the hotel location is very important for you, why not take the hotel credit and arrange the hotel & transfers yourself?
  17. I agree. It always seems to us that Explorer has the worst connectivity around the ship of any of the Regent fleet. When we were on Explorer earlier this year, we were told by the Internet Manager that the Wi-Fi infrastructure on Explorer would be renewed/enhanced during the May refurbishment. Was this work completed? Has it made any difference?
  18. When I saw your Swan confusion (Cob, Pen & Cygnet) I thought you were channeling another Hans Christian Andersen fable, made famous by the Danny Kaye rendition Happy Anniversary & thanks for your blog. Glad to see the Scandinavian weather is behaving well thus far.
  19. When I enter Dublin (Dún Laoghaire) as a port of call into the "Find a Cruise" section of the Regent website, it returns 25 possible cruises (https://www.rssc.com/cruises?p=DLG) Dublin Port website still lists a number of cruise ships berthing, but no Regent ships 🤔
  20. Expert Flyer can be useful to check airline seat availability.
  21. Often an officers v guests daily challenge. shuffleboard, baggo & the like. The casino usually has some tournaments. As you are on Splendor, an occasional long leisurely lunch in Chartreuse or Prime 7. If one of the sea days is on a Sunday you may have an extravagant brunch in compass Rose.
  22. Chartreuse & Prime 7 speciality restaurants are open for lunch on Splendor & Explorer, with a lighter lunch menu. Both restaurants are open on sea days; only one on port days (alternating between the two). Compass Rose is not open for lunch on Splendor & Explorer (except for a Sunday Sea Day brunch). On the other ships (Navigator, Voyager & Mariner) Compass Rose is open for lunch daily; not the speciality restaurants. The menu usually has some dishes from the Splendor/Explorer lunch menus and from Pacific Rim. No reservations are required for lunch on any of the ships.
  23. Newcastle: Beamish open air living museum is worth a visit (https://www.beamish.org.uk/) if it is still on Regent's list of excursions.
  24. Only if you are booked on a Regent pre-cruise land tour.
