  1. Wow, took me 6 pages to catch up but so glad I saw this thread…love your postings @Jim_Iain! Hope you have a wonderful time, you’re only a couple hours west of me when you disembark in Toronto. Beautiful itinerary and although it’s early you might be lucky and see some Fall colours! 🍁 Cathy
  2. The difference is most likely due to the reduced number of passengers. July would be a busy month with passengers but August would be swamped. Agree about the dishes being left in the hallway..we’ve never had an issue with our attendant removing used dishes from inside our cabin, not sure why passengers think this is acceptable. Can’t imagine what their homes look like. To the OP, thanks for posting your review, as another poster wrote, very few current reviews on the board. 🙏
  3. Because of the backlog in applications and renewals, they’re allowing you to use your current card, even if expired, so long as you’ve initiated the renewals process. You should all be fine. We’re currently waiting for renewals on our cards which don’t expire until next May but will def be using them in January and May when we travel down under (NZ) and to Europe whether renewed or not. We’re just hoping we won’t need to do interviews again 🤞
  4. So once again the few have spoiled something for the many. Hope you enjoy the remainder of this cruise, sounds like you are!
  5. Hope you have a wonderful cruise, thanks for posting. What is your itinerary?
  6. Yes, that is what I meant 🤦🏼‍♀️ That’s what I was thinking would happen as well, thus why 90 minutes could be a tight connection. Knew someone would have relevant info! Thx @Fouremco
  7. Thank you for this wonderful report and your beautiful pictures. We’ve done Alaska twice but haven’t done a land portion in Alaska which we’d like to do next time. We’re torn between adding a cruise line land tour or just flying in and doing it on our own before embarking the ship. Would you do it the same if you were to repeat or do you think you’d see more and have more flexibility doing the land portion on your own? Thank again and safe travels home!
  8. Will you be able to go thru customs in Ottawa or will you have to do that in Toronto? Might make your 90 minute connection a bit tight? So nice that you are able to travel with your parents, hope you all have a wonderful holiday!
  9. Couldn’t they just return the sealed bottle for refund, or sell it online, and use the money to buy some decent lobster and beef? The whole ship could enjoy! 😋 😉
  10. That risotto looked amazing! Did it taste as good? 😋 I prefer the spacing but I’ll take whatever is easiest for you…just grateful that you’re doing this while on your holiday…thank you so much!
  11. Thank you for this helpful explanation. We are leaving from Amsterdam but returning to Rotterdam. Getting to our Airbnb prior and then to the port seems straightforward it’s getting from R to Schipol at the end, in a timely yet cheaper fashion that we’re trying to sort. Seems like we can walk to a tram station near the disembarkation and take that to the train station. From there it’s direct ride to Schipol. 🤞 Did you purchase a transit chip card or just use your credit card?
  12. Thank you both! Very reassuring. @puppycanducruise how did you get to the train station? Any issues with luggage on the train? We’re four adults with one spinner each and carryons. Did you prepurchase your train tickets? Thanks!
  13. Our credit card was charged about three weeks ago, haven’t heard anything else. No news is good news?
  14. We disembark on a Thursday in June. The only nonstop AC flight is at 12:15pm…I’m thinking that would be too tight? Other option is same flight next day and we stay either in Rotterdam or closer to Schipol. Of course that adds to the expense of the trip. KLM has 2 non stop flights at 10:50am (never make that) or 5:50pm. If we took that later one we’d have plenty of time to get to Schipol and could maybe store our bags in a locker until we can checkin? Thanks for the suggestions!
  15. I hope you’re feeling better soon! I was diagnosed yesterday with pneumonia, first time for me, after a very ill weekend. Never realized how exhausting it’d make me feel. Anyway, Carol, thanks for updating us and please wish Norris a timely recovery ….don’t think anyone recovers quickly from pneumonia. I’m grateful I was able to come home to recover…different healthcare system here $$🙄 Cathy
  16. We are departing the Silhouette next June in Rotterdam and can’t make the only non stop flight back to Toronto so will prob stay overnight and book the non stop for the next day. Question, are there some decent reasonably priced hotels in Rotterdam or would be be better heading from the ship to Amsterdam and staying close by there? We’ll have spent 6 days in Amsterdam and surrounds prior to the cruise. Thanks! And any hotel recommendations would be appreciated also.
  17. Maybe when X has to start honouring all these *IT* glitches they’ll actually hire someone competent to run the department. You can’t ethically offer something to someone and then when push comes to shove just say oh it’s an IT glitch 🤦🏼‍♀️
  18. Following! What is your itinerary? Cheers! Cathy
  19. Stunning photos @Bimmer09, and I’m very much enjoying your commentary and sense of humour. Iceland is definitely moving up on my “need to explore” list! Glad to hear not all of the MDR food is abhorrent 🤣. Hope you and Carol continued to enjoy your holiday! Cathy
  20. Very glad you had a great time and not really surprised about the internet. We had the classic package on the Eclipse last September and had the same issues. Yet on Silhouette this past Feb the classic worked great. 🤷‍♀️ Thank you for continuing the report, your details and pics are wonderful!
  21. That makes sense if you’re relying on your nexus card solely as a form of ID…we always use our passports or photo ID and rely on the nexus card solely for quick entry thru customs lines. For this purpose the expired card with proof of renewal application, done prior to expiry, is acceptable. Glad your DH had his DL with him!
  22. Just at dinner time. You can wear them at breakfast and lunch. You may read of someone getting away with it one time or another but generally long pants are required for men at dinner.
