  1. My Beyond S1 cabin has a sofa/bed instead of a regular sofa. Wondering if it’s just as comfortable as a regular sofa without the bed. Also the cabin sleeps 4 And there’s just 2 of us. I feel like I should invite people along.
  2. We’re sailing on the new ship “Beyond” 10/26/22 from Port Liberty (NY metro area). 9 nights stopping in Bermuda, Aruba and Curaçao. Ship ends up in Fort Lauderdale where we fly home from. Looking forward to a taxi to the ship, not worrying about flight delays. If you book, pack a costume for Halloween 🎃.
  3. I booked a suite guarantee on Beyond a year in advance and saved several hundred dollars. Ended up in an S1 we are very happy with but you never know. I figured any suite on Beyond for 9 nights is better than going to work.
  4. I don’t understand why a book can be worth $200,000, a BeanieBaby $3,000 or a bottle of wine $100,000. the worth of anything will always come down to supply and demand. Any thing, virtual or physical is worth what someone is willing to pay. I have a Kindle full of data I paid for over the years. The virtual books have/had value to me but what did I buy? A data stream. Just because you don’t want to bid on the NFT and you don’t understand it doesn’t mean it doesn’t have value to someone else. (Not me )
  5. Sorry to hear. Hope they get their act together. I have a res 5 months from now.
  6. I wouldn’t bother booking Aqua if your partner won’t like Blu unless you’re booking for the spa. Save your money and book Concierge or Verandah. Concierge has better cabin locations. Blu breakfasts ARE great tho.
  7. Despite a limited kitchen and probably limited access to storerooms to accommodate substitutions, it seems in 2022 they should be prepared for vegan, dairy free, and gluten free options. It’s short sighted and frankly, old-school, to not have those menu choices. Reminds me of bullish chefs I’ve known.
  8. Got the email too. Was the 11.4 date of the naming ceremony already announced before this email for Beyond? We disembark that morning so will be gone before the fun starts.
  9. Security will keep bringing the crap back to you whether you want it or not. It’s like a reverse scavenger hunt.
  10. Just use the same precautions you would use at a public pool... It's not hard.
  11. I just flew in and out of LAX last week. It was pretty easy to get an Uber to and from the airport. If you have a lot of luggage get a larger Uber. It’s not something to stress over. I’d rather spend a little extra for the convenience than stressing over a shuttle service.
  12. Sounds like a fabulous cruise except for the comedy. My wife and I will be in the Retreat on Beyond for 9 nights in Oct/Nov and can’t wait. We reserved Eden twice, Fine Cut once and Le Voyage once. The other 5 nights we’ll bounce between Luminae and the main dining rooms. I agree with you regarding rationale for booking a suite. Larger cabin, Retreat deck, host, Retreat lounge and priority access all more important to us than Luminae. Thanks for your feedback and suggestions.
  13. With thousands of strangers on board you can’t know who has the psychological desire or need to steal. But you can certainly take steps to eliminate the opportunity for them to steal your stuff. Keep it in the room or out of sight in a bag, backpack, or under a shirt/towel. If you leave the pool area take your electronics with you. Or put an exploding red dye packet under your phone. Boom 💥
  14. If you buy it every time and you travel often and you use it once it’s probably not worth it.
  15. I assume the port shopping guides were profitable for the ship in the form of commissions and fees from the stores mentioned. Perhaps in a post-Covid world it’s no longer profitable.
  16. I’m so so sorry Jeanne. Don will be missed in this community. My condolences to you and your family. -Michael.
  17. Clearly you haven’t seen “Titanic”
  18. MGM Gold is the third level after Sapphire and Pearl. Besides earning 20% more points Gold also gets no resort fees, priority checkin and access to Amphora at Borgata which means a lot to me. I’m already Gold and the partnership with Celebrity saved me $4k on a Beyond suite so I’m not complaining.
  19. Personally I believe any day I have to wait for entrees in a Celebrity cruise ship dining room is better than a day at work. I hope these issues resolve in the next 5 months Assuming things are the same I’m going on my Beyond cruise with no expectations other than an opportunity to relax, drink, eat, gamble and have fun for 9 nights. Praying Covid doesn’t cancel our plans.
  20. Agree. My back apparently doesn't curve in the same direction as these "lounges" do. Who ever thought a lounge chair made from stone and tile would be comfortable? What's next? "We have a new spa treatment. You lie on a cold flat concrete floor for 45 minutes. It feels great. Try it. It's only for 'Concrete Class' passengers though. You have to pay extra"
  21. It's not just a cruise industry problem. It's an everywhere problem, and the hospitality industry is being especially hit hard with labor shortages. I don't know about international staffing, but in the US there is a huge shortage of workers in the food and beverage service industry. I'm not sure where all the workers went, but they definitely left restaurants, hotels, bars, resorts, and evidently cruise ships.
  22. Every beverage outlet is having supply chain issues. The problems arent necessarily with the liquor or wine supply. It could be bottles or labels for the producer. They are likely prioritizing more profitable packaging also. I work for a hotel and it's really difficult getting the 50ml minibar sizes of many liquor brands now. So, if a cruise ship isn't carrying certain brands of liquor or wine you're used to seeing, it's not likely related to cost cutting, but to supply issues from the wholesaler.
