  1. I just got an email from the Maryland Urban Search and Rescue with several members from my county are being deployed to Puerto Rico. Roy
  2. Thank you for the Sunday report, Rich. I'll take my burger without the cheese and appreciate Wife Appreciation Day and Women's Friendship. One year ago today I was back in upstate New York for my 60-year high school reunion. Interesting point of view by Wilde. The meal sounds interesting, the stuffing is the key. I have not been to Livorno although I was supposed to be last year, bringing the Carnival Legend to Baltimore. 3. What about in Scotland and I assume not while on extended travels. Roy
  4. With the storm apparently headed North and West of the Aleutians, I see very little likely impact on cruises. There's a Silversea ship headed for Dutch Harbor that might be but I doubt any big cruise ships will see much. Roy
  5. Today's sunrise is another from my 2012 Crystal Symphony transatlantic. September 17 was a sea day from Reykjavik to New York and the day we would have called at Halifax if we had not been delayed by storms: Roy

  7. Thank you for the Saturday report, Rich. A nice selection of days with a special salute to our Constitution. I love the Mead quote, but haven't been to Exmouth. The meal sounds interesting. I know there's a big storm headed for Alaska so it's a good thing it's still a little early in the season to have ships heading from there to Asia. 8. Today's sunrise represents a bit of an anomaly. My first ever cruise ship was the Carnival Fantasy in 1993. In 2014 I joined my brother in Charleston SC for a reunion of his submarine crew. At that time, Fantasy was sailing out of Charleston so I decided on a 5-day cruise fro old times sake. On September 16 we visited Freeport: Roy

  10. I'm wondering if this early departure is even possible in many cases. With Celebrity Apex Class ships docking in the Intercostal Waterway and many HAL ships using terminals 26 and 29 I suspect HAL ships will often be unable to get out of the port until Celebrity leaves. Roy
  11. Thank you for the TGIF report, Rich. An interesting collection of days, with a special shoutout to step families and a salute to our veterans. I've crossed the Drake Passage several times; it's always an interesting experience. Since I don't eat seafood I'll pass on the meal. The quote is quite fascinating. Will be off to Wegmans and Panera early today. 12. That was a tough fall for the Symphony. After the TA she did several New England and Canada trips and at one time broke down in Montreal with about a 2-day delay leaving and the final blow was Superstorm Sandy and missing the turnaround port of New York. Just glad I had a very resourceful TA. Roy
  13. Not quite sure what you're suggesting but I have my doubts. If the idea is to take Amera to Fort Lauderdale, I expect Amera's Captain might object, and I don't think you would want to sail to Bremerhaven and miss the World Cruise. If you get a chance to look down from Zaandam's top deck, do check out the new Beer Garden where the Lido Pool used to be. Roy
  14. @Horizon chaser 1957 I believe you are boarding Zaandam in Montreal soon. Just a quick heads up, you will be joined in Montreal by MS Amera, most recently MS Prinsendam. Roy
  15. You and @nancygp are both correct. I think I also remember that was the cruise where @Out2See was onboard as a lecturer but due to the extra sea day we got treated to the world premiere of "Character Man". @TRIPACIAN you are correct also. There were 3 ships in Grand Turk that day with dock space for 2. Nieuw Amsterdam had the first priority because their parent owns the port, and we got the second dock space probably because Serenity had azipods and Dynamic positioning while we didn't, so Serenity had to tender. I got this view of the 2 ships with Serenity nestled under our bow: My last view of Serenity from that ship just after the peak of sunset: Roy
  16. Awesome! Now you just need to get a deal on the house in Midland. Roy
  17. Looks like the port lights are primed to come on promptly at 05:30. Roy
  18. @Cruzin Terri I hope you remembered your IPAD when you visited your house. Today's sunrise is from a very stormy morning September 15, 2012 on the Crystal Symphony sailing from Reykjavik to New York (we were supposed to have a stop in Halifax but missed it due to the weather): Roy

  20. Thank you for the not-quite-Friday, Rich. I'll pass on making hats but salute Greenpeace and caregivers, especially @smitty34877. I visited Belize City once on the Crystal Symphony. Not sure what the meal is. Pleased to hear of a likely settlement of the railroad strike as I will be using the Auto Train to get to the Eurodam for November 9. 21. I think the same issue was discussed in another thread and it sounds like there may be something missing in the online checkin: I'll suggest going back to your online checking and see if something is missing. It sounds like it could be something as simple as an emergency contact. Roy
