  1. Today's sunrise is from my 2014 Alaska trip; August 18 was the first sea day on the way from Seward to Glacier Bay. Roy
  2. Hopefully that's the last of your fire worries for a while. Roy
  3. Thank you for the Thursday report, Rich. 3 great days; I'm guessing @RedneckBob may be the first poetry contributor for us to enjoy. Looks like I've been to Noumea just once on the 2018 Crystal World Cruise. Love the Ghandi quote. The meal sounds nice but not like something I would make. My alternative is Chilled Peach and Ginger Soup and Oven Roasted Chicken as served on MS Statendam August 18, 2014. Podiatrist later this morning. Today’s care list: Strength and healing (physical and emotional) for Kazu Cruisin Terri’s neighbor on hospice for uterine cancer Devastating news on Shadow Joy’s friend Debbie suddenly losing her brother Fires near Seasick Sailor Tana with persistent problems although somewhat better Fluff breast tumor surgery ger_77, DH, and DS with covid fatigue The locks at Ijmuiden(Rotterdam diverted to at least 9/11) From the rotation: Heartgrove’s Sam severely declining Heartgrove brother discharged but in hospice care Cruising-along niece awaiting a kidney Atrex6 Father severely declining Celebrations and Shoutouts: Volendam caring for refugees Heartgrove meeting his grand daughter ger_77's prescious “almost daughter” New fur baby for Crazy for cats sister ottahand7 successful self care Tana starting t feel herself Copper10_8 (Zaandam to 8/20) , Mtn2sea and kplady (Nieuw Statendam to 8/27), Aliaschief (Rotterdam to 8/28), Av8rix (Zuiderdam to 8/31) and Gail&Marty (Rotterdam to 10/15) at sea Staff Captain Sabine - Our first female Staff Captain and HAL’s likely first female Captain(I know this is a repeat but she’s worth it) Roy
  4. @ger_77 do take care of yourself and let others help as necessary. You're "almost daughter" is a real gem. I hope you're officially negative now. @kazu there are just no words for what Shadow is going through. I am really disgusted with the attitude at the rescue, rescue blindness just does not strike me as a viable excuse. I hope Shadow is soon found and gets either a loving family that can really help her or a graceful crossing of the Rainbow Bridge, whichever is most appropriate. Do take care of yourself. You can be justly proud that you gave Shadow the best years of her young life. Roy
  5. No I did not but you can email them and let them know your estimated departure time. Roy
  6. Today's sunrise is another from my 2015 Blount Grande Caribe cruise Portland to Saint John. On August 17 we started the day in Rockland, Maine. Roy

  8. Thank you for the Hump Day report, Rich. Great collection of days with a special salute to Thrift Shops. Love the Virginia Woolf quote. I've been to Punta Arenas twice, Zaandam in 2017 and Prinsendam in 2019. My reaction to the menu will depend on the stuffing. My alternative is VPasta Primavera, Chilled Mixed Berry Soup, and Vietnamese Apple Tart as served on MS Veendam August 17, 2013. 9. Today's sunrise is from a 2013 trip to Atlantic Canada. On August 16 I was on an early morning bus on the way to Baltimore's Amtrak station and MS Veendam out of Boston. BTW, it looks like in the last 24 hours Serenity has moved slightly, I think into a drydock. Roy

  11. Thank you for the Tuesday Report, Rich. 2 hump days in a row, over the hump on August today and on the week tomorrow. I used to love roller coasters and still enjoy a good quote. Not sure what to make of the meal or the quote. My alternative is Sunset Salad, Orange and Grapefruit Medley and Spaghetti Amatriciana with Grilled Chicken Breast which would have been my choices on MS Prinsendam August 4, 2011 if I had not had a large Pinnacle Grill Lunch. I noted changes in HAL Covid protocol yesterday but they might have a few too many political ramifications to be appropriate on the Daily. 12. With Luggage Forward you will still pick up your bag in the usual place and take it through customs and the representative will be right at the terminal exit. I did it on July 8. Roy
  13. @Heartgrove Lily London is adorable. @StLouisCruisers Sadie is beautiful. Hope training helps soon with the jumping. Roy

  16. Thank you for the Monday report, Rich. 3 very nice days to celebrate including the Acadians. Interesting quote by Gatsby. I have never been to East Timor. The meal sounds nice. My alternative is Chilled Carrot and Ginger Soup, Pinnacle Burger, and Sorbet, my lunch in Prinsendam's Pinnacle Grill August 4, 2011. 17. @ger_77 I would like to wish you a mild case but cannot square that with "hit by a truck". I think the best I can do is wish you a swift recovery at least in feeling better although it is almost certainly going a while before your energy returns. Do take care of yourself. Roy
  18. Today's sunrise is my earliest ever, taken on my one cruise aboard SS Rotterdam V. It was taken August 14, 1997 as we steamed the inland passage from Seward to Vancouver. It was my first cruise with Rick Spath: Roy

  20. Thank you for the Sunday report, Rich, and thank you Graham for Vicar David's message. I THINK I have played wiffle ball sometime in the distant past but not sure. I'll salute both the Navajo Code Talkers and Financial awareness. I love the quote but have not been to Venice. No idea what the meal is. My alternative is Classic Caesar Salad, Prime Rib of Beef au jus, and Baked Alaska which may well have been my final dinner on Grand Dame (Rotterdam V) August 14, 1997. 21. My mouth won't open that wide. Roy
  22. That time again. Your vaccum and my microwave. Right in the middle of making lunch. I was a lot happier with the old one than I am with the new one. Roy
