  1. Be careful with the Steak Diane; it was no good on our last Silhouette cruise. Had to order something else.
  2. You explained how it was perfectly; but how it is now may be totally different. That's what the Executive Office representative told me in response to my email....."it is what it is." We were on the last cruise on the Silhouette when they shut down in March 2020 and were one of the first back on when they resumed. Everything was as good as it always was. Our November 2022 cruise was just as wonderful as usual and we didn't see any reductions in food choices. However, we can't compare any previous cruises with what's going on now. Will see for ourselves when we're back on the Silhouette in April. Maybe we will have to look at other options in the future .....perhaps choosing one of the more expensive lines like Oceania, Viking, etc. instead of taking two or three Celebrity cruises every year along with 2 or 3 other couples. I hear nothing but great raves about the food on Oceania. Have already started checking out their options. I see few complaints on their CruiseCritic boards. Perhaps Celebrity doesn't care about us as we generally book verandas and aren't part of the "Suite" class.
  3. I agree! After sending an email yesterday, I too had a phone call from the "executive office" regarding my comments. I specifically mentioned the possibility of cutbacks in the MDR menus. We feel the food on Celebrity has been a cut above Princess & Royal C, so to hear they are messing with that does concern me. Prices on Princess and other cruise lines are better in many cases, so if the food and service isn't a step above, why would I keep booking Celebrity? New, beautiful ships and port itineraries are pretty much the same. The representative listened to me reiterate what I had said in my email; however, in the end, she told me they are taking down the complaints, but "it is, what it is." Hope the MDR changes aren't set in stone.......we're going on the Silhouette in early April, so we'll soon find out. 🤞
  4. We were on the Silhouette in November and two of us ordered the Steak Diane....it was absolutely horrible. Couldn't even cut it. I hope that Sirloin on the new menu is good. After many Celebrity cruises I hate to see all this negative stuff. They've jumped in with too many changes and price increases all at once! 😆 I hope by our next cruise in April things have settled back down. 🍷
  5. Never cruised Oceania before. Looking at cabin 6064 on the Regatta. On deck plans I see it is located over blank space. Since DR is on deck 5, could this cabin be over the kitchen? I'm thinking that could be noisy. Any help/advice will be appreciated. Thanks!
  6. Can't seem to find any info on this tour other than what the ship provides. We're on the Silhouette in April and our adult family has booked this excursion. I'm assuming it's similar to the one they do in the Cayman's? In any event, appreciate any comments you might have. Thanks! 😃
  7. If you've taken this tour, I would appreciate any comments/details. Thanks!
  8. Before, you leave the cabin on the last day, Always double-check the drawers and cabinets! I thought I had, but a few cruises back, I left my small jewelry bag and a bag with medicines in one drawer intending to put them in my carry-on that morning. Rushing back from breakfast, I grabbed the carry-on and didn't discover the missing items until we got home and unpacked the next day. Contacted Celebrity lost and found of course and filled out some forms. By then the ship had sailed again. I went on the roll call for that cruise but couldn't contact anyone. Did manage to reach someone on the following cruise who went to GR to check for me, but no luck. No jewelry/medicines were ever retrieved. Other than one or two good pairs of earrings, it was all costume jewelry. Another time, on a B2B, we came back to our cabin on turnaround day and a crew member was putting all of the bathroom stuff into a big brown bag. The cabin steward knew we were on a B2B but apparently they get extra help on that day. Now on a B2B, I move my stuff into a safer place. Replacing all the stuff in your bathroom before the ship sails again would be a nightmare, especially if you're in a foreign port.
  9. We were on this cruise with two other couples. Frankly I was a bit worried after reading so many comments about poor choices/availability of wine, no prime rib, etc. etc. We all had the classic package and had no problem upgrading wines for a couple of dollars in the DR. In fact we found a Cabernet in the classic package available in the Passport, Ensemble and OV bars that was excellent. I can't remember the name of it, but the bottle had two crossed swords on the label. The cabin and the ship are in great shape. Found the waiters and bar staff exceptional throughout the ship. Did not notice any lack of service due to short staffing or other problems. The Silhouette has always been our favorite ship and we look forward to returning in April with family members. The ports are fine if you like water/beach, sightseeing tours; otherwise, there's not much in the pier areas and it's Hot! At our age though we are happy to just enjoy the ship, especially views from the back deck outside the OV buffet. They had numerous trivia and other games. Only complaint was we thought the combo in the Ensemble bar was way too loud in the evening. Dining room food doesn't seem as great as it used to be but we could always find something to eat. Desserts are always good. We've been on the Edge and almost all of the other ships. Silhouette remains our favorite!
  10. Q: What kind of food is avail in the Craft Social Bar? Is there a charge? Thanks.
  11. AbbyDancer.....Looking forward to your review as you sail. We are a group of six on the Silhouette Nov 7th from Miami. Who is the Captain and the CD now? Do you know if they'll still be on board for our cruise? Let us know if there's problems getting nice wines, even if upgraded to Premium as others have been complaining about. Same with the MDR food....lots of complaints. We have been on many Celebrity cruises but since we've got two other couples joining us, I'm hoping a lot of the shortages and complaints have been resolved. Thanks. Have a great time!
  12. Thanks for the info. Several helpful suggestions appreciated.
  13. Just a question.... how effective Now are the original 2 shots we received when the vaccinations first came out early in 2021? We have followed up with all of our additional boosters, but I know there are people who only got the first two shots. As I understand it, to board the ship today we just have to present our Vaccination Card. There may not be any follow up boosters on it. So, if the original 2 shots are still effective, why do we need boosters? and if the original vac's aren't still effective, then maybe those without boosters should be considered UnVac'd! Just asking......😟
  14. Me too. Supposed to be able to check in for our cruise today but won't let me sign in.
  15. There are six of us going on a cruise in November, all in our 80's. Staying at the Intercontinental. I know it's a nice walk over to the Bayside area. Can anyone recommend a restaurant or two? Not looking for fancy/expensive places, we'll be (over)eating well for the next 10 days. 😀 Would like a place that might appeal to the whole group. Maybe deli sandwiches, a burger, chicken sandwich, etc. It seems to be a fun place to spend a couple hours. Understand there's a trolley that we could take to other places. Any help from those of you that live in the area would be great. If you come to Dallas, we'll point you to the best BBQ places!
  16. In 2012 we were with a private group in a van with overnight stay at the Mena House right next to the pyramids. The next day the tour ended with a lovely afternoon lunch. Unfortunately, leaving Cairo we got a bit of a late start and there was a broken water pipe in the city and we got stuck in traffic for quite awhile. Our driver drove like a madman to get us back to the ship in time and when we got there, the whole ship was outside watching us pull up and drag our little overnight bags on board. 🥹. We laugh about it now but it was quite embarassing! We knew the ship was going on to Luxor so if we had missed the ship, alternate plan was to drive there. Fortunately we didn't have to do that. The locals in most countries do a great job with the tours and at a significantly cheaper price.
  17. Do you have a Dillard's near you? They usually have a beautiful selection of "Hawaiian" style shirts. Perfect for cruising!
  18. Husband wears Hawaiian type shirt Every evening, especially on Carib/Mexico cruises. He's comfortable and looks great. Go for it, it's a growing fashion! 😀
  19. Another wrinkle....friend has an expired passport. Could that possibly provide proof of citizenship for her?
  20. Thanks for the quick reply. Definitely agree. But, if we have to go this route, do you know what documentation Celebrity will require in lieu of the pp?
  21. Adult grandson will join us on upcoming cruise to the Caribbean from Miami and return to Miami. I've been told it's a "closed loop" schedule and he doesn't have to get a pp. He has applied but is now concerned it won't get here in time. If that happens? Will his driver's license work or perhaps a certified birth certificate? Personally I know how important it is to have a pp in case something happens and we have to get off the ship. But, is it possible to go without one in this situation. Thanks all.
  22. Hi, In February, we walked to the ship from the Crown Plaza with roller luggage. Uber's were taking quite awhile and the hotel shuttle was full. Easy, just cross the street and there's a nice walking trail along the water all the way. We had to cross the parking lot to get into the terminal. Probably took about 20 min. Bad weather would be different.
