  1. On St. Thomas, we love taking the water taxi over to Honeymoon Beach on Water Island. We've also done a taxi to Coki Beach. You can't really go wrong with most beaches on St. Thomas.
  2. That's where I'm at as well. Have always been a proponent of not removing the auto grats and also adding some extra cash to a few (bartenders, WJ staff, steward). Honestly not really sure what I'll do on my next cruise. I'd go as far as to say it's definitely true for some. Those of us who have been cruising long enough remember before auto-grats the half-empty MDR on the last night of the cruise because people didn't want to face the wait staff they weren't going to tip.
  3. Boiling water 2 tsp hot buttered rum mix 1-1/2 (okay, maybe 2 or 2-1/2) oz rum Wife likes just a tiny bit extra butter melted in there. Stir it all up and it's good to go.
  4. @Sea Dog Glad to see the recovery starting! Andi sends her best wishes and is having a celebratory Hot Buttered Kraken for you.
  5. Prepaid gratuities are added to your final balance, not paid up front. I think you're the only one who can accurately answer whether anything is worth $40 to you. As you can find in the other threads, prepaid gratuities make it so you can't remove them onboard the ship.
  6. Fun fact: My wife and I each got a $2.72 refundable OBC "Port/Air Tax Credit" on our accounts on our Adventure sailing a couple weeks ago, and we didn't miss any ports.
  7. Also wonder where the extra $.15/day for other hotel services goes for regular cabins vs. suites.
  8. What? When did this happen? How come no one has talked about cruise pricing going up on here before?
  9. I think in the past this used to be pretty common in the last days of a cruise...but haven't seen or heard of it in quite some time. Good deal if you're going to use the 10!
  10. How adorable. Time used calling out duplicitous and inane tipping threads is always well spent.
  11. Except they aren't forcing anyone to pay anything. Anyone on a cruise can go to guest services and stop their auto-gratuities, as many in this thread have said they'll do. A company so unethical and improper and unfair that they give the consumer a choice whether or not to pay? Interesting.
  12. Thank you! I had the over on gratuity increase threads today at 2.5 Never underestimate CC folks rushing to create threads for a few hours after multiple threads already exist on the front page.
  13. Stevie was very happy to see us when we got home about midnight last night. IMG_4429.mov
  14. @Sea Dog Greg, I can second the compression socks. It's gotten a lot better, but early on after my surgery I got horrible swelling/edema in my left leg. Compression socks didn't 100% solve the issue, but they definitely knocked it down a few notches. I usually wear one on long flights, since sitting for long periods of time will cause swelling for me.
  15. What an Adventure week. Cruising with our new CC friends, I think I finally realized what my Mom and Dad saw in their life of cruising. They went on about 40 cruises, 35 of them on Royal. After every single cruise, my Mom would come home with names, addresses, and phone numbers of other couples who they ended up keeping in touch with over the years and some they cruised with multiple times…friendships that lasted throughout the rest of their lives. Thanks to Greg @Sea Dog and Linda, Jen @jmh2006 and Dave, and Deb @Momof3gurlz and Andy for making such great memories this week. This was our best cruise in a long time.
  16. @Sunshine3601 is correct. Our beach club waiter told us today that all the free food on CocoCay is done by RC and the beach club menu is separate and all done right there.
  17. Dolly trivia: She wrote “I Will Always Love You” and “Jolene” ON THE SAME DAY. Were in the middle of a Perfect Day at CocoCay, but even this doesn’t compare to that day Dolly had.
  18. Out on the balcony, watching the waves go by, and what do my wandering eyes see? From our 6th deck balcony, I think I spy with my little eye, one deck up and on the hump….a @Sea Dog GoPro ready to capture our CocoCay arrival!
  19. That may have been me. John’s is my NYC fave and we go every time we’re in the city. I’ve never waited in a line there for more than a few people/5 minutes or so…probably luck of the draw. Goes pretty quick but I’m with you, as much as I love John’s I wouldn’t wait in that line either.
