  1. You were informed correctly by Princess. It is a fare adjustment and not an add-on. You can purchase the actual beverage package pre-cruise or on-board, but that would make zero sense compared to the fare option.
  2. You didn't mention where you are going. Outside of the flexibility to watch for any lower fare and re-fare, don't expect to save a lot for domestic flights. If flying overseas, EZ-Air is going to save you a bundle and keep watching for lower fares after you book.
  3. If Princess cancels, you get money back, but it may be FCC. If you cancel, you are subject to airline ticket rules if already ticketed. So, then it depends if any different policy such as Cruise with Confidence provides relief or any insurance the guest has to cover cancellations. I might add that it is unlikely airfares go down close to departure date. Especially if you scored a good fare in the first place.
  4. Surprisingly, this may not always be true. Our friends have a regular economy booking with AC for international travel (overseas - don't include US in international). She was about to request early ticketing in order to do seat selection earlier this week, but it was offering it on AC website already. No way to know when that happened, but was not there back when booked.
  5. Yes, but doesn't solve the issue. I have mentioned this previously (but understand that older posts are not easily found). So, DMW just isn't that sophisticated. It would have to have additional intelligence in the programming to detect the dining companions credits and then ask the booking guest if they want to cover for all or not. It isn't any different if you were booking for you and dining companions and paying for four cover charges. DMW isn't going to offer that the other couple pay their own way (in effect you would be authorizing a charge to their credit card for the meal). DMW only accesses your own credits. If you happened to have two credits each, it would use them all to pay. You really need to wait until on board and then go and book your night on embarkation day. If you book separately, the restaurant is going to have you at separate tables and you still need to go and re-book once on board. Another option that works - if you are planning to go 2X - is one of you make the first booking and the other make the second night booking and it's all even in the end.
  6. Think I saw something in an article a long time ago, but I imagine it would be expensive equipment for an individual to purchase.
  7. Just for you folks who live far, far away, it's the Greater Toronto Area. We have a couple more of those geographic acronyms for other areas as well which loop in additional built-up areas.
  8. I think you are conflating two things, but you tell me. Yes, the Cruise With Confidence policy is currently ending Sep 30 and seems unlikely to be extended since we are well past the timeframe when they would have extended (based on prior extensions). This policy allows you to voluntarily cancel with less notice than in normal times and not lose money. For Europe, this is the FAQ on the Europe page of Health Protocols: UPDATED: What if I test positive for COVID-19 in my pre-travel or embarkation day COVID-19 test, prior to boarding the ship? Guests who test positive for COVID-19 will not be permitted to board, together with their family members and close contacts, and should not travel to the ship. If you, your family members, travelling companions or other close contacts are suspected of having COVID-19 and are not permitted to board, you are entitled to a 100% Future Cruise Credit (FCC). If you are denied boarding at the pier, due to testing positive for COVID-19 on embarkation day, change fees, medical assessment and testing for COVID-19, shoreside quarantine and travel home for you and your immediate travel party will be covered by Princess if not reimbursable from medical insurance, a travel protection plan or other responsible party. Any meals during shoreside quarantine will be covered by a per-diem meal allowance as communicated by a letter provided by staff at the pier. (No receipt retention is required.) If you have purchased a travel protection plan through us, you and your travel companion may make a claim for a refund under the trip interruption benefit instead of receiving the Future Cruise Credit. The above does not contain any expiry date language.
  9. I am glad to see that my mind wasn't the only one going where the rest of you went.
  10. I would say the question of the Plus (or Premier) fare package is the critical one. Decide who is going to be having the Plus. If the couple does, then stay together and book the aunt as a single without Plus. Then, just switch cabins on board. If no one is taking Plus, then if the couple is Elite, for sure switch now to get the Elite benefit in each cabin. If no one is taking Plus, and not Elite, I don't think it matters. Well, one thought there. Do a mock booking of this second cabin as a single using either of the two in the couple. Then, do it again not logged in as a newbie cruiser (which is the aunt's situation). See if it makes a difference on the single cost. It might be cheaper for the aunt to be in the cabin booked with one of the couple in order to get a good promo or past cruiser rate (it only takes on in the cabin to get the rate for all). Then the husband books the single. It's a bit of work with the pricing offers, but you will get to the best bottom line for all three combined.
  11. Others can tell you more, but I would definitely do a combination of land tour and cruise voyage. Note that ALL Princess ships are Medallion now, so the presenter was a little out of date. Also, take a look around Cruise Critic and find some reviews where folks took Princess to Alaska. There are are a lot of "live" cruise reports from voyages taken this very season. Look up a couple of those. I would say universally, everyone who goes to Alaska is thrilled with the experience. This is partly why it is on our list of future trips.
  12. I'm not going to try and do the conversion, but MedallionNet with your CC Member Level is 50% off. $320 for regular price in USD. $640 for 4-devices. You should book one 4-device package for same price and 2 single-device packages. That way, you have room for two extra devices - like PC's in addition to phones. Actually, the conversion is no issue since you just booked. PCL recently bumped the exchange rate from 1.25 to 1.29. But even just looking at the CAD above, notice the 4 device is exactly double the 1 device (let's not quibble about rounding of pennies and exchange rate).
  13. This is a ploy that seems to happen pretty often with Princess agents. They default to Plus and are close to flabbergasted that a guest wouldn't want that. No doubt they make it sound like the deal of the century by quoting some bloated value for what it could cost you otherwise. Anyway, you can change the fare class/type without losing your cabin. Same if doing a complete re-fare to a new promo.
  14. Each of you add the other as Travel Companions in MC App. Your friends setup a Dining Party by adding you. THEY make the MDR booking for the party of 4 in DMW. (If I were you I would also let the HW for CC section know you won't ever be there as dining with friends). ETA: I see now your friends cannot do early booking. (Perhaps they will make an earlier FP???).
  15. I am very doubtful that any of our Fall voyages are going to drop below the price point we are now at. As well, PCL has little incentive to have late price drops if they are basically sold out. I have been thinking I might try the upsell approach on our final voyage since it is a single 14-nighter and I can see better Balconies opened up now after FP Date. A big problem with out first voyages is they are B2B2B and highly unlikely to get same cabin throughout if attempt to make a change now. We are content with what we did.
  16. Yes, I have read the same and hoping for a WMD this October. Just to clarify - the WMD is a dinner only and never included a galley visit, nor the extra gifts that come with the CT and CTL.
  17. It most certainly seems to work pretty well once the cruise starts - and they have had a lot of time working with that functionality to have it humming. It's the pre-cruise parts that have been a disaster (no other word for it), BUT it is getting better pre-cruise, so I would up it from 1 to average now.
  18. A couple of people posted the contents earlier this year. Probably was on a "live from" you could try searching for "coupon book" in 2022. Some folks had Passenger Services (PSD) print some out. Otherwise, it's on the phone virtual. I am trying to think of other clues to put in forum search. You could include "wine" as one of them has to do with that IIRC. Make sure you customize the forum search so that ALL of the words must be present. Not sure if it will work, but you can try.
  19. I am thinking that doesn't matter if they want to test at the turnaround. (I had been reading those tests were being dropped). I just hope anyone +ve has the option to quarantine for 5 days.
  20. It's not The Sanctuary. You should not have much problem getting in there for lunch unless you are a later arrival for check-in.
  21. It's nice of this agency to have a redux on the 3DS for their clients - whether you use them or not. Folks didn't have the chance back in the summer with no Americas schedule out as yet.
  22. It will the same one in play all this year. Don't expect anything wonderful.
  23. I would offer that that small mobile case was pretty sad back in 2018 when the branding was still Patisserie. There were sometimes some decent small bites, but it wasn't much.
