  1. I would never have thought of that but it makes sense with all having the same address. I know Nexus can be very strict. Sorry this has happened to you but it is a good reminder to all.
  2. Such sad news, I’m so sorry. You and your Dad had great times together and he will be watching over you and I’m sure he hopes you’ll continue to cruise.
  3. lol. Yup, I knew it was a risk but he survived! I let him win a lot at cards too 😂😂
  4. As the other poster stated, have a read through the live thread of the recent 35 day South Pacific cruise. We were on it & enjoyed it-was the longest one we have done. MrBear was getting bored on the last “zillion” sea days back to San Diego but we played a lot of cards etc. The weather is unpredictable but for us, the first few days from San Diego were a bit rough for some but we didn’t find it too rough-cool yes, but not too rough, we did not miss any ports due to weather but did miss Fanning Island because of a medical emergency. Nuka Hiva was the one port we weren’t sure we’d get into as that had rough seas but the Captain waited it out and the tenders made it in. We really enjoy the Koningsdam and have been on it a lot. I am also one that prefers to cruise rather than do a long flight to get somewhere. Hope this helps you somewhat. I’d do this cruise again in a heartbeat but only you can decide if you’d get bored or not like the entertainment (which did lack).
  5. Sorry to hear this. I’m sure it’s always a hard decision for the Captain but we all know safety comes first.
  6. Sounds like you’ve settled right in!!! Have a wonderful time!
  7. We had a few “brunch at sea” on our recent South Pacific cruise. It messed up a lot of people who went down for breakfast in the MDR only to find it was “brunch” and not open yet as it was set hours. I will attach the menu we had.
  8. We just returned from the South Pacific cruise on the Koningsdam and the curtains are definitely blackout ones! We loved the Dutch Cafe on the ship-great lattes & food is included. Wr haven’t been to Alaska in several years so no comment but I’m sure lots will pipe in. Enjoy the ship & Alaska!
  9. lol. I had to try it-have heard about it for years. Figured with the HIA might as well attempt it. Made a good try but boy oh boy, was it strong 😳 Even with Sprite being added I would not order that drink again!
  10. That is such a shame. The HAL rep certainly didn’t do her job in my opinion. When we booked with CO, our PCC booked us lowest category of a suite then added CO and put us in the highest category-that is how it should work. I sure hope the CO dining experience improves for you too.
  11. We had the HIA so figured I’d at least try it 🤦‍♀️ never again is right for me either!
  12. @POA1 following along! I hope you know I took one for the team on our South Pacific cruise and tried a Weng Weng (or whatever it’s called). Hubby had to go get me a can of Sprite to keep diluting it 🤦‍♀️ The server thought it was pretty funny.
  13. We had a few doing their loud chats on our 35 day recent cruise-it was annoying while trying to eat breakfast or lunch in peace. When we wanted to chat with our grandkids we’d arrange to be back in our cabin to do that which, in my opinion, is where it should be done not in the public spaces.
  14. @kazu Have a wonderful cruise! (PS I loved our 35 day South Pacific one)
  15. Have you signed up on the roll call? That’s where you’ll find others who might share small groups etc.
  16. Ryndam was our first ever cruise. I’ve signed up to follow along on the other thread.
  17. wow…not helping passengers back on would be a huge complaint. No, it certainly wasn’t a lagoon. Did you guys dance on the way back? They had the ladies then the men which was fun. We did not have to use the facilities so can’t comment on that. Agree, Papeete isn’t the place to snorkel since there are such other great options to do that.
  18. We went on a different day that BermudaBound went on. The snorkel isn’t great but it was easy to get off & back on when you’re on a catamaran if you snorkel. We only booked it because we had extra OBC we had to use. We enjoyed the vibe of it & staff who were great. It was actually relaxing & a fun time for us.
  19. Glad to hear you’ve made it. I hope our weather improves (but I heard snow on our local mountains is happening 🤦‍♀️). You’ve had quite the adventures & still going strong! Safe travels. Shoot me an email when you get home.
  20. We have an issue here in Vancouver, Canada too. Within blocks of the cruise port people have to be very cautious. We love San Diego & will sail from there as it is an easy flight for us to get to. We will just always make sure we pick a later flight like we did after the SP cruise. Or next time maybe just stay overnight before flying home.
  21. We just returned from the 35 day cruise to the SP and did not “require” any shots. However, some chose to get some after visiting their travel medical center for recommended ones. I don’t know how to provide a link but it was passport health global dot com
