  1. Well on our last cruise on the Escape we bid and we didn't even get a notice whether our bids were accepted or not in fact we had to go to the guest service desk to ask if we were upgraded they told us NO so we kept our Balcony. We, later found out that our cruise was not full ( we noticed) and that there was a lot of rooms available in the Haven, needless to say we were disappointed, we also found out they also had spa balconies available and we bid for that too. We wondered why they didn't accept our bids and why guest services didn't allow us to move up and pay the difference, we found that bizarre. Last but not least, we got Covid, we had some symptoms on board very very mild by the end of the cruise but when we got home we tested positive, we are both doing well.
  2. The escargots, the dover sole, the mushroom soup, in fact Le Bistro in my opinion is the specialty restaurant with the best food.
  3. i read somewhere else i think it was facebook that someone had a problem removing it from their cruise, apparently NCL is requiring a good excuse now to remove them, is anyone else having that experience? when we booked our last cruise on the Escape they raised their daily service charge and we were asked to prepay to avoid the raise and here they are doing it again for our April cruise. LOL is a yearly event.
  4. I agree. We just came back from our cruise on the Escape after a 3 year hiatus. We had a good time and good service for the most part, we have another cruise in April and then we will pause cruises on NCL.
  5. wow that is quite a hike in price. Hmmm when will the cap be? 50 dollars? 100 dollars a day? I don't mind paying extra for my waiter, for my steward but the raises are getting ridiculous from 16 dollars to 20 is quite a hike in price. Sigh
  6. Not really. We tried to pay for an upgrade yesterday, and we were told we couldn't pay for the upgrade because we were to close to sailing, that's what our TA told us. We were trying to pay for a Club suite.
  7. I said i would update. The update is, nothing yet....LOL. Off to Rome tomorrow and our bids are still pending. The Haven categories we bid for are already sold out in fact all the categories we bid for are sold out. We don't hold much hope. Oh well. We have a nice mid ship Balcony stateroom. We are happy. Good luck. Will try to update, i am sure we will get a response from NCL whether is a yes or no.
  8. Well we are leaving tomorrow for our cruise on the 1st. Our bids are still pending, and quite frankly don't hold too much hope since the categories we bid for are already sold out...
  9. Oh my so we have grammar police now math police how fun, feel better now? 🤷🏻..
  10. the way it works is like this. Example. an inside cabin may be 999 for a while and you think you are getting a great deal then they advertise a big sale and hope that people don't notice that they have raise their price by 40% so that inside cabin is no longer 999 but 1398.60...so they take the 40% off and boom is back to being 999...LOL so shorter answer is a BIG no :-).....
  11. Oh wow she is looking tired. We have been on the Epic 4 times going on our fifth next April but we are thinking of switching to the Gem. TA....I still remember being on the Gem back in 2009 when it was announced the launching of their new ship the Epic, time flies. Thank you for the update on the Ship.
  12. i agree. To me those parties are more about the hard sell than the actual appreciation of customers IMO.
  13. I just went to our roll call and some people are already getting notices that their bids have been accepted.
  14. I will go with my first opinion, some people do stress out about tipping LOL, make it more complicated than it should be. Sigh
  15. Hello we are on the same TA and it departs on the 1st, Tuesday. When i view our bids they still say pending. We haven't altered our bids either.
  16. 5 days to go until my cruise and my bids are still pending and only one type of suite is left in the Haven, everything is pretty much sold out. Is safe to say is not happening LOl, i hope i am proven wrong.
  17. I will probably go overboard with this comment but here it goes. Let's just say, a couple takes 2-3 years to save enough money ( not us LOL) to go on a cruise, they finally book that cruise. This couple combined salary does not allow them to top 18% 25% etc. They may be able to save extra money to be willing to tip, what they tip, or not tip is not anyone else's business, what people consider stingy or splurging, again is no one else's business, Tip what your pocket allows, who cares what amount others tip. I for one, don't care, but that's just me.
  18. oh how interesting i didn't know that. It does have a grey banner on the live bid one that i refused to participate in the others are still green...
  19. oh nice to know. We went on live bid on The "Haven Forward-Facing Penthouse with Balcony (HG)" and you are right it still pending. We bid on various rooms. Have a nice cruise.
  20. oh my goodness. What a headache, something definitely is not right. 🤐
  21. I find it interesting how some people constantly stress out on how much to tip, How about tipping according to the service? or your budget? you get great service and have the budget knock yourselves out, you don't have great service and you have the budget then make the decision on what you think the service was worth, or if you have great service but don't have the budget then tip according to your wallet, is all very simple really, very simple indeed :-)...IMO
  22. We are currently bidding on Haven Spa suite on the Escape which shows sold out. We are also bidding on Spa club suites and Spa balcony and those are available and we are in the GOOD category in the bidding. Some people have told me that my chances are good for spa balcony and spa club suite and to just be hopeful someone will cancel in the HAVEN lol...We will see. A few days ago we were offered to do a live bid we opted out of that, we were not willing to change our bid. We now have the spa passes but if we get a spa balcony or spa club suite that means the spa pass would be less than what we paid for the passes. We are keeping our fingers crossed.
  23. We are 6 days out and still pending, and Haven is pretty much sold out now. We are still hoping for a Spa Balcony or Spa club suite those are still available, if we don't get anything we will be happy just the same, is nice to cruise after a 3 year hiatus.
