  1. This is my favorite 10 day Mexico destination cruise. La Paz and Loreto are towns that are small, unencumbered by large jewelry stores, and the locals are friendly. Loreto is a tender port. La Paz is a long bus ride in, but free. I did a fantastic tour to San Sebastian in PV.
  2. Airport Bus. Runs every half an hour until 8 PM then switches to every hour. I can't find the thread I did on Japan that included comprehensive transportation options. If you can find it, it will. provide you with lots of information.
  3. Simple solution: Buy cancel for any reason trip insurance with Princess. You will only lose the insurance cost, but won't have to pay the solo supplement. Get the Platinum plan. Funds returned as cash, cc, or FCC. My opinion only: Why create drama?
  4. You are still a young (age/experience) cruiser. I have done a couple of solo cruises (several around 40 and recently/older). Comfort level will depend on how outgoing you are. how you deal with being by yourself, and how willing you are to start conversations with random passengers. I have enjoyed each of my solo cruises. Sometimes, it is just nice not having to coordinate activities with someone. Having the cabin to yourself is also a nice perk. Join your roll call. Don't be afraid to meet people on the ship. Do be a little more cautious when in an unfamiliar port. I remember once taking a bus to the center of a town in Costa Rica (I think it was San Jose). Got off the bus, walked around the block, felt really uncomfortable. Good thing the bus was still there...and I hopped on it. Stick with ship tours (another story about going out on my own is too long and scary). Get out of your cabin and roam.
  5. There is an online customs form (don’t remember if it was attached to ArriveCAN). Quebec airport is very small. Immigrations “shouldn’t” take that long (I flew into Montreal). The airport was further away than I had estimated. I took the Princess transfer from ship to airport. Clarification…. i did 2 New England cruises last year. Cruise #1: Flew out of Quebec in August. Cruise #2: Flew into Montreal and took a train to Quebec in October.
  6. EZ Air will only give you the fares available on line. They will not match what’s directly on the airlines’ site. The benefit of EZ Air is that you don’t have to pay for a non-refundable airline fare way in advance like you would have to do booking directly. If the difference is worth the risk, get insurance, or look at what the airline’s change/cancellation policy is. You can always keep looking and hope EZ Air drops.
  7. If you want more OBC...look into purchasing Carnival Stock CCL. Has anyone served in the military? They will also get OBC (I don't know how to claim that). Princess Shareholder Request Form 0315_R3.pdf
  8. It is a mandatory stop to satisfy PVSA. That's a bummer that the Captain probably won't let anyone off the ship with such a short window. It could be for a variety of reasons: Tides Whale Migration (slowing down the ship) Hard to tell this far out (2025)
  9. I added Paxlovid to my list of medications to take aboard a ship when cruising outside the United States. Yes, the ship "may" have a limited supply onboard, but they are not a pharmacy. If this is a large outbreak, they have known to run out. I happened to have my own when I tested positive last summer. In addition, as mentioned above, documentation is important for any reimbursement. You will need to pay $28 for a copy of your medical history. That is not covered in the medical center invoice. PVP did reimburse me for this document. Needed: Medical History report (it will also include number of nights in isolation/covid positive results) Medical Center invoice (includes medication and office visit) Copy of your statement where it shows they charged you
  10. I have no idea what the OP is thinking. No clarity to multiple threads. I can't be credited with superior sleuthing, Someone else did the leg work. OP could very well be looking at another voyage in 2024. The Caribbean Princess is in the Caribbean now but moving to Europe this summer. The Emerald Princess is also in the Caribbean but will be doing one trip to Hawaii then back to the Caribbean before doing New England. As for me...I will be enjoying Planks and Steamers on my next cruise compliments of Plus.
  11. The FCD is fully refundable. Before the year is up, you can ask for an extension using this form: http://princess.com/refund-request I have never asked for a refund before the year is up (never saw a need to). More often, I regretted not having one on the books. Don't understand the last statement. If you used the FCD to book, cruised, and used the OBC, there would be no unused FCD. The FCD would be your deposit and $100 would be deducted at final payment.
  12. But OP will be on the Discovery Princess, if they make the cruise.
  13. Planks and Steamers is not on the Discovery Princess.
  14. You have lots of questions. Do you have a current FCD or are you thinking about buying one while onboard a cruise? If you have an FCD, yes, you can book a cruise on/off a ship. If you decide to purchase FCDs for everyone, be absolutely sure you have a hard copy or confirmation that you purchased the FCD BEFORE booking a cruise on/off the ship. Everyone who puts down a deposit with a FCD for a suite/on a cruise of 17 days or longer will get $150 OBC. If you cancel the cruise, Princess will rebank your FCD (not always right away) which you will be able to use on another cruise....before the FCD expires. You may book for a cruise further out than a year. In my opinion, a FCD is one of the best investments one can possibly make. $100 in the bank with zero interest or tie up $100 for up to a year (or more) for a return of up to $150. Hope this helps.
  15. 6:30 ish? Buffet is open earlier. IC is open too.
  16. @startedwithamouse Are you tracking me? lol....Brilliant people think alike.
  17. You are asked to leave your cabin by 8 AM. Some chose to do an early breakfast and return to the cabin to pick up their belongings. Others take it to the dining room with them. Some do room service. Some do IC.
  18. Poster hasn't checked back in recently. I know I am interested in the final decision. Hope OP informs everyone that took the time to respond. Cruise is in a couple of weeks (February 3).
  19. That was Celebrity. Did you have insurance? Did they charge you a single supplement? Not condoning this method. Just curious. Isn't this similar to the person who buys a cheaper segmented airline ticket and gets off before the end destination (forget what it is called)? Frowned on by airlines and could result in being banned by the airlines.
  20. @DCThunder I respect your post. Coming from Hawaii....everything is under budgeted and delayed. I understand that. I don't have anything invested in this inaugural cruise. It is a huge disappointment. So much hype. Princess has enough problems with branding. Look at the Medallion/Princess App. 4 years and still not supporting all that was promised. I remember some spokesperson on some "travel agent webair" that they were going to improve wait time for an agent and better customer service. The list goes on and on. I am sure Princess isn't the only cruise line that have these issues. I really don't care. Princess is my cruise line of choice, but I see room for improvement.
  21. I am not on the Sun Princess, but do have a cruise booked this year. Currently have: 4 hotels held on points or member refundable rates EZ Air flexible fare PVP travel insurance Excursions not prepaid and can cancel 24 hours prior Transfer car service paid in advance but refundable The only thing that will "cost" me if I don't go is the country money that I will purchase before leaving the US. Will lose service charge and then have to convert back to US $, probably for less. Princess is definitely at fault here. Feb 8 cruise should never have waited until now to cancel.
  22. Did you choose this voyage for the ship or the itinerary? How important is the concierge's lounge to you? Enough to switch ships? The concept of concierges did not appear until the new (Royal Class Ships) were built. Disclaimer, I am 99% sure that I will not book a Royal Class Ship for myself. Personally, I have not missed having the lounge. The new ships are too big for my comfort and missing too many things from the Grand/GEM class ships. The lounge is centrally located for mid-ship suites but far away for aft and forward suites to really make good use of them. If you have a beverage package, you may not need the lounge. If you are elite in a suite, you will have 2 mini-bars and 2 bottles of water daily. You will have access (although not as convenient as someone across the hall) to a concierge. You will be able to enjoy all of the other suite perks. Have a wonderful time on the Grand. She is oldER (like me), but still a wonderful ship. Do be aware that she has mid-ship stairs to no where (crew area).
  23. It is a section of the MDR for Reserved Mini Suites (formerly Club Class) and suites. Usually on Deck 6. They have the same MDR menu with a few additional daily selections. The staff is terrific and it seems as though pp ratio is better. You do not need reservations and can usually walk in and be seated within 0 - 15 minutes if you don't care about same wait staff team. They all help each other out.
  24. Priority tendering for suites will get you off the ship in a timely manner. You will meet the event's manager in a specified location (on Caribbean, it is generally the Crown Grill/right outside of the WS). You are generally escorted to the next available tender. They are in contact with the crew via walkie talkie. Haven't had to wait more than 15 minutes to get on a tender.
  25. Pay the full fare AND solo supplement. That’s a hefty chunk of change for a “free” casino cruise.
