  1. Yep. We had to cancel a current cruise (dagnabbit) for a medical reason. Got all the points back and it was easy peasy.
  2. Good idea. And I have others things in mind. Like no professional sports season can begin before the previous one ends. And the only playoffs will be the two best teams from the leagues will play one game and be declared the CHAMPION!!!! See, I've had some time to think about this 🙂
  3. I don't like them they're worn indoors. And all but one of your reasons have to do with being outside. And if you didn't wear a cap your hair probably wouldn't be (too) messy.
  4. All my family was in Atlanta where it gets really hot and humid. But no shorts when going to Grandmother's.
  5. This times a thousand. I finally got a carry on that will fit under the seat because jerks were abusing the system and filling up the bins. I've long said that when I'm "Czarina of the Universe" my first act will be to remove all overhead bins from airplanes. It either goes under the seat or you check it.
  6. Yeah. I tried once to say wear what you'd wear to your grandmother's for a special dinner. That didn't work 🙂
  7. Because they weren't raised properly...would have been my mother's response...and I agree.
  8. Thank you, sir. Fact are it IMO.
  9. Just taking this on here as it's been used a number of times. IMneverHO sophistication has nothing to do with dressing a certain way. What does being sophisticated mean? /səˈfɪs·tɪˌkeɪ·t̬ɪd/ having an understanding of the world and its ways, so that you are not easily fooled, and having an understanding of people and ideas without making them seem simple: Sophisticated readers understood the book's hidden meaning. 10. Many years ago I worked at the Americas headquarters of an intl airline. We worked with companies that put together land/air/etc. packages that were then sold by travel agents. I worked closely with those companies and referred to our dept. as the "free ticket and favor department." And, rest assured, we could do everything legal to help these companies. I've no doubt that cruise lines can do the same. But, yeah, whatever, as @FlyerTalker says.
  11. Adult "kids"? Y'all don't have to dine together all the time, do you?
  12. Sounds good. I'm guessing if their doctor writes a note to that effect then would O and/or the airline go along with that?
  13. Having lived with drought for 50 years, every single person makes a difference. You've probably never lived with mandatory water rationing. I have. IIRC it was 50/gal/day for the two of us. Inside and outside.
  14. Oh yeah. Lived in SF for quite a while. I remember collecting the water in a bucket while the shower water was heating up. Using it for things like flushing the toilet. And the sign in the bathroom that said "If it's yellow, let it mellow. If it's brown, flush it down." No joke.
  15. Oh boy, let's waste some water.
  16. Yep. And the good news is that those people don't want to do what we do. Sometimes. Naxos.
  17. That's what we did and thoroughly enjoyed it. Here's the view from our apt.. in Paros.
  18. Oh no. It happens here in the US. Remember Bruce Jenner? Now Caitlyn Jenner? Some years ago he had a home on Lake Tahoe. He went to the nearby (public) golf course wanting to play. The pro said it would be awhile and why didn't he go hit some balls. He said "do you know who I am?" He was told 'yes' but still told it would be a while.
  19. My husband worked for Levi Strauss & Co. for almost 25 years. They actually published a booklet about how to "dress casual" for work without being too-too 🙂 Here's an article I just found about the booklet they published and sent to 25,000 HR departments around the country. Maybe to cruise lines? https://slate.com/business/2014/08/levis-business-casual-how-the-clothier-standardized-office-casual-in-american-workplaces.html
  20. I love that story. Thanks for sharing.
  21. We did a "black tie" dinner many years ago. Done with GREAT humor and everyone loved it. Loosy-goosy as to attire.
  22. Yes. It goes below my hips and is the same fabric and color (black) as the skirt. It's a very lightweight fabric and takes up almost not space. I've had it for eons. So basic it never goes out of style. Not that I'm particularly stylish 🙂
  23. I love that. Thanks for sharing.
  24. Well, I gotta say that if we ever again cruise on a line that has "formal nights," Bob will pull out his not-used-in-years tuxedo. (Our sons-in-laws wore light colored suits to their wedding so he couldn't out dress the grooms.) And I still have the long black skirt and tunic that I wore with vintage rhinestones that were my mother's. It would be fun. SO few occasions to get dolled up. And as someone wrote, a tux weighs less than a suit.
