  1. I'm guessing you're ship oriented rather than off-ship. And this was an incredible experience. Only 100 pax, only two others were Americans. Wonderful Norwegian food. Incredible wood that won't be tossed when the ship is retired from service. IIRC we were out of view of land only one day. A few pix. I don't think I've ever taken this many pix before...and we went to an expedition cruise to Antarctica.
  2. Considering this post and your screen name, I'm guessing you don't do land-only travel 🙂
  3. We also have an RV so space is pretty much laughable:) And as everyone says you spend so little time in your cabin.
  4. Definitely not "luxe" on our ship, the Lofoten (now retired). It had 100 pax, a little crane for some cargo, day passengers. There were only two other 'Americans' which we loved. English, German, Aussies and more. The cabin was super small. We couldn't both stand up at the same time. The shower had no 'curb' so when the water was rough one day/night the water would run across the bathroom floor. We put bathroom 'stuff' in a cardboard box and set it on the toilet when we were in the shower. Loved every minute of it. Now need to do the fjords.
  5. Maybe check out Hurtigruten. We did their coastal cruise and it was incredible. Take a look at the ship also. https://www.hurtigruten.com/en-us/inspiration/norwegian-fjords/trollfjord
  6. Yep. Lung nodule removed 12/23. Pain and related things. Not getting better soon enough to safely go to sea 🙂 Sadness. (Turning 77 in a few days)
  7. I actually talked to a live person at the beginning - that was just a few days ago. She strongly encouraged me to send in EVERYTHING so I am. Our group # or what it's called actually has USAA in the middle of the sequence. I'm hoping that gives us 'favored nation status.' 🙂
  8. Does your OH use the same thing?
  9. Thanks for your reply. I'll be sending in my claim ASAP and will keep my fingers crossed. It's voluminous!
  10. Our temporary solution was to have one of daughters to wire us $500. We immediately contacted our credit/debit companies. No use had been made. Our cash was minimal. Our long term solution is we have a credit and debit card that unrelated to the ones we walk about with and $100 cash in our safe. That way we're not down for the count. As an aside we were leaving there on a cruise so those things were quite important. Gratefully we got them in time.
  11. I'm hoping it's safe in the ship's dining venues. Off-ship I carry something bigger. Need more. BTW we were both pickpocketed at the same time in Barcelona some years ago. Didn't even know it until we got ready to pay for a not cheap lunch. Gratefully the manager/owner was very kind.
  12. But doesn't it have to require food for lunch or dinner, not just wine/beer?
  13. I like that a lot! It can sit on a table or hang on a chair. Thanks.
  14. Well, this make me want to puke 🙂 Are you by any chance a USAA member? I chose them because my husband has been with USAA for over 50 years and I figured they wouldn't farm it out to just anyone. And, yes, best wishes for a continued recovery. Cat
  15. Oops, we also. I just got so excited 🙂 PS: Where in Oregon? We used to live in Grants Pass near Medford.
  16. We got a second res at Jacques sharing with a very nice couple. And IIRC we ordered and ate at our own pace if that makes sense. Just sharing the table. And chatting 🙂
  17. That's nice. I honestly can remember once when we ordered room service for dinner. After a lunch on shore, we shared a burger for dinner. A glass of red would have been nice.
  18. I didn't know that. You were just there, weren't you?
  19. When I see the cost of some of the mixers I won't be surprised if there's a charge.
  20. It just really blows my mind. I love my home, those friends, the kids and grands, the shops, driving my car. You name it. MAYBE two a year but more likely one every year or two.
  21. Sketchy? Stealing is what I would call it.
  22. Wherever we travel in the world we LOVE good food. If I don't have a connection, which I rarely do, I google and get insanely good recommendations. But you have to know how to tell the truly good from the not so hot.
