  1. And we just make the assumption that their environmental impact is and always will be HUGE.
  2. I never thought they would be a 'good deal.'
  3. Not at all. I can only go so far in a conversation like this. I'm passionate that individuals can and do (and honestly must) make a difference. I'm too far apart from people I don't even know to discuss. I like you, just don't agree a bit here. Peace 🙂
  4. Well, at least a lot of the ships are getting more environmentally friendly. At least if they want to do the Norwegian cruises. Is Antarctica making those rules also. And I'm one of those silly people who believes that on person can make a difference in this world.
  5. VERY, very food oriented. Looks like all or some of the cruises will include overnights in certain ports. That will allow some really nice sounding meals. We're not interested in the Med but I bet plenty will be and enjoy these.
  6. OP mentioned: such as Norway, Holland, Denmark. But Also Greece and Italy,
  7. Sincerely curious about what "Latin America" countries came with warnings about personal safety. We've visited a whole bunch of them and never had qualms. I do understand now that Caracas isn't the safest however.
  8. And speaking of, here's the story on golf balls. Cruise lines may not allow golf balls on board because of environmental concerns. In the past, some passengers would hit golf balls off the back of the ship into the ocean, which was wasteful and polluted the sea. Golf balls can take up to 1,000 years to decompose, and modern balls often contain toxic chemicals that can harm marine life when they break down.
  9. Skeet shooting is no longer allowed on cruise ships due to safety concerns and environmental regulations: Safety: Giving passengers guns and crew members throwing objects into the air for them to shoot is dangerous. Environment: Throwing foreign objects into the ocean is prohibited. World events: Events like 9/11 have also contributed to the end of skeet shooting on cruise ships.
  10. I would never return to Santorini. We were there in April and it was insanely crowded. Gratefully we were on a DIY trip so, after a few days, we left for Naxos and Paros. So wonderful. Oh, yeah, and it you go to Greece eat lots of octopus.
  11. Re caviar...can you get it wherever you 'sleep' on the ship. I just LOVE those little eggs. (And, hey, come to Seattle where we have Seattle Caviar. https://caviar.com/
  12. Another reason I like you 🙂 You kinda remind me of myself...except you're better.
  13. Despite what people say, we were in Copenhagen in December a few years ago and it was warmer there than at home in Seattle. Same with Iceland. Cruised the Norwegian coast (on Hurtigruten) in March and weather was fine also.
  14. But when you talk in to TC and see two people at a 4-top can't you ask if you can join them?
  15. Those were the best snails I've ever had. I never made them again after that 🙂
  16. The link you included had a date of January 2020. That's odd; I honestly don't know what any of them are now 🙂
  17. Has anyone already posted this? I googled Oceania grand dining room sample menu 2024. I wouldn't have a problem in the world eating off this every night if I had to...which I wouldn't have to. https://www.oceaniacruises.com/sites/default/files/2023-04/grand-dinning-dinner-sample.pdf
  18. And your husband seems to delight in that considering how much he talks about it. FWIW before he retired my husband traveld 30 to 85% of the time. Birthdays and anniversaries were celebrated when we could and were no less fun. One year my birthday was a "camping trip" in our yard, in a tent, queen airbed and down duvet and pillows. And flowers and Champagne. Etc. Until the middle of the night when the indoors dogs figured out where we were and barked til we came in. Now doesn't that sound like a fun celebration??? Best wishes.
  19. What is Galician veal? Galician veal has been produced for almost 4,000 years. This tender meat has Protected Geographical Indication, which guarantees you'll be enjoying the meat of an animal born, raised and slaughtered in Galicia, and from a pure native breed.
  20. Okay. Could four people even eat it? Stupid. IMneverHO.
  21. If we have a normal sized (?oz) bone-in rib eye we usually get two meals for two out of it. We grind our own pork shoulder and make 4oz patties (you know, like a 'quarter pounder.".
