  1. I always book suites and club class. I just booked a Japan Cruise for May 2024 and the upcharge for club class is ridiculous. It's ten days . What are you really paying for other then slightly better service with quicker seating and a dish extra. Eat at a specialty restaurant for $29 daily makes more sense. It's port intensive so there won't be any lunches. That's $1100 X 2 = $2200 a couple. I've done club class for the past several years and didn't find it worth that much more. 2. I hate the advertising. If you spend time in the shop they are harvesting the information. I would assume they don't harvest marketing info from cameras but only go to watch if something happens unlike the medallion which is used to market. Why does anyone need to know how much time someone spends in the laundromat? The bathroom? Sitting on deck? Because they want to see how to get more revenue. I don't need to see myself pop up on a screen at the elevator. It feels invasive, it's not a conspiracy theory at all.
  3. I was on a four night cruise so had only jeans and most people were in jeans and very casual. It's quite dark inside so what you wear isn't very visable and everyone is watching their 180 of the 360 degrees anyway.
  4. The cards will always be available because the directions on the information sheet of the medallions instructs not to use if you have any magnets like a pacemaker. Liability dictates a cruise card alternative. I hate being tracked so bought a 10 pack of RFID credit card sleeves for $1 on ebay and put my medallion in my rfid sleeve and then in my pocket. I don't need a reader board to tell me who I am , I already know!
  5. Why resist the cure of a hip replacement. It's not very traumatic and will improve your quality of life not to mention your mobility. In seven months you'd be fully recovered and racing to go.
  6. A balcony is is always worth it no matter where or which cruise. There is no substitution for fresh air or a leisure morning coffee overlooking the water on a balcony.
  7. It's listed as a full suite amenity so if you're in one make sure to get an invite. https://www.princess.com/ships-and-experience/360-experience/ A Priceless Benefit to Suite Guests
  8. I just booked the Japan Cruisetour next year for 15 days. It just opened up yesterday to book. I'm very interested in knowing all I can about the Diamond Princess and what's different about her since she's been earmarked for the Asian Sailings. Since it begins and ends in Japan I'm thinking there will be a lot of locals and westerners. That's cultural diversity at it's finest. When people are on a cruise they are friendly and it's the greatest way interact with people.
  9. What I hear you saying is that these folks take no pride in their jobs or a job well done.
  10. You getb a can if you don't have a drink package so obviously it's not refillable.
  11. I do everything in the WEB version and avoid all this frustration.
  12. Taxi is easiest and least expensive option to the airport. It is a flat fee based on zones in Vancouver and should run $40CA for all of you.
  13. Throw them away, they will not be honored.
  14. I'm not following the logic on something. As a D+ with 5 drink vouchers can't you get bottled water or cans of diet coke at a bar? If so why choose those items as your amenity?
  15. I find the shower gel to be just fine. I get the tube of it not the bottle mounted on the tub wall. The tender tickets have already been explained. Full suites and elite tier passengers get priority tendering.
  16. Hope it's not a bother to ask again if there is a thermal suite on the Island Princess with the hot tile beds.
  17. Been following your lovely blog. The pictures are fabulous. I will be on the Island later this year for a 28 day cruise. Can you tell me if there is a thermal suite. I love those hot tile beds and the thermal suite is included in full suite cabins.
  18. Because they can't hear it with the MUTS is sooooooo loud.
  19. Waitlist is not a booking with a price gty. You pay the current price on the day a cabin becomes available to book. That has always been the procedure. It is a new booking.
  20. If they allowed this we would all book something in a higher category and see if we could downgrade for a refund. It's no different then cancelling and rebooking after the penalty kicks in. IF you paid in full before final payment was due you could do it.
  21. I don't use their app and filled it out at the port, easy and took seconds. If you have to go to the desk agent to get your medallion because you don't want it mailed for a fee it doesn't even take seconds, you do it when they go to get your medallion.
  22. When you first sit down your first name is projected on your place setting. That's why they seat you exactly where they seat you and you can't switch seats. It was a lovely dinner but I wouldn't do it again if there was an upcharge.
  23. The perfume I use is always more expensive onboard. That's with the 10% discount.
  24. Tipping has gotten out of hand in my opinion. I do not tip for my one bag which is merely placed on a cart. There is no answer to the OP because it's an individual choice that goes from zero to the sky's the limit.
