  1. It's not so much the tracking as harvesting of information to bombard you with ads and ways to entice you spend more money. They only track you on camera if something warrants it, they aren't collecting information. The medallion gives them every moment such as how long you were in a shop, if you went to a show, how long you spent in the bathroom! It's like cookies on your computer tracking you for extra revenue. I started using the medallion for unlocking my cabin door but keep it in an RFID sleeve in my pocket. I do not carry my cell with me on board, it stays in the safe. I don't use their app either, I use their web version to get ocean ready.
  2. It's no problem and takes no time at check in. Many people don't use the medallion because it has a magnet that can interfere with implants like a pacemaker. He can get a regular cruise or if he takes the medallion he can put it in a rfid blocker sleeve so he won't be tracked.

  4. I suspect it will be more too but I said what I would pay. Those who drink wine will benefit more then me because I dislike dry wines which is what they serve. Wine does add to the expense, all of them were dry wines. It's rumored they will give a memorative medallion and some other fluff to inflate the price.
  5. The experience was lovely. The food is subjective. I don't care for an Olive Tapenade nor octopus but the filet was perfect. You get what they serve for beverage, water , wines and if not alcohol a surgery punch. I was not permitted a diet coke. There are no choices and no substitutions. You won't leave hungry if you eat the filet and taste the other offerings. There are two horse shoe tables and the graphics fill the entire circle. It is dimly lite and there is a narrator for each city and dish. The graphics were over the top and so was the service. It is a meal and experience worth trying at least once. I would not pay more then what a specialty restaurant costs $39 without alcohol.
  6. Did anyone get a bid invitation using the big box company for a TA?
  7. I hope it's not recycled Champagne disguised in OJ
  8. Unfortunately the alternative was a sugary fruit punch nothing diet to drink except water. That is not a reason not to go if invited. The food was only half the experience, the tech was the other half.
  9. You're welcome to disagree and present different opinions but insults are not welcome. FLAME SUIT ENGAGED but hopefuuly not needed. There are several areas that the newest suggested gratuity irks me. What used to be reasonable was the dinning room staff and the room steward. Now they have everyone on board included. Revenue generating areas would be cruise directors (think Bingo) gym classes, shops, shore excursion desk, guest services and of course internet cafe tech, photography dept. Beside the Captain and officers who's left out. Do different staterooms use different levels of service? There may be a slight difference in the time it takes to service different cabin categories but not a huge difference and no other service is elevated. Unless in Reserve class the rest remains the same and I'm already paying an elevated service fee in club class. Isn't that $40-$110 PP PD a service fee for club class because it's not higher quality food. I believe the begging/suggestion of gratuity and who is in the pool has grown to an unreasonable level. It's irrelevant what one can afford it's about fairness and transparency and value. When I extend a gratuity in every case other then on a cruise I know what I'm giving and to whom. What is a Crew Appreciation? The crew appreciation is a daily (adjustable) amount added to your onboard account and pooled in order to recognize the many crew members in the Bar, Dining, Entertainment, Housekeeping, Guest Services, Galley and Onboard Revenue areas and entertainment areas throughout our fleet who contribute to the guest experience. Effective on voyages departing February 20, 2023 and beyond, the daily amount is $16 per guest in Interior, Oceanview and Balcony, $17 per guest in Mini-Suite and Reserve Collection, and $18 per guest in Suites
  10. I think the wifi prices are high. For my upcoming 28 night cruise it's a whooping 28x $7.50 =$210 for my one laptop devise. Don't forget the gratuity since that's in the auto daily gratuity and includes revenue generating depts. Nickle and diming was never a goal of Princess but now it is. Isn't bingo and gym classes revenue generating so now the cruise director and his staff are in the pool. It's getting out of hand. All inclusive resorts are looking better but I do enjoy cruising. 11. The cabin will be somewhat bigger but the bathroom is horrible. The shower has no enclosure and water is every where. There are no shelves to put anything. The only perk to club class is the dining so what do mean that's the only perk? Club class mini suites are all the same, just better location mid ship deck 9 usually. What ship are you talking about?
  12. It is complimentary to whoever is invited not only suites. They said they plan to charge in the future but it's a test right now to see how it's received. I wouldn't go again if the charge was more then $39 as a specialty restaurant. I don't drink so that part of dinner was no value to me. I don't eat octopus so that has no value to me. The filet mignon was perfect. There are no choices available, can't even get a diet coke. The experience is what made it amazing and worth seeing. The tech was over the top.
  13. These window suites are lovely but do NOT have a balcony.
  14. If you don't drink the best package isn't an option. I usually go to the early show and arrive 20 minutes early to get seats. The late show usually is less attended and usually easier to get seats where you want them.
  15. You may not get an invite, it's been random. The Princess web site does say it's for suite guests so I suggest you print out that page and if you don't get that invite go to the Concierge tell them you didn't get your exclusive invitation. 360: An Extraordinary Experience Exclusively on Discovery Princess® and Enchanted Princess® Watch A Priceless Benefit to Suite Guests Join us on a journey through the sights, sounds, textures, and scents of the Mediterranean. 16. That goat cheese souffle used to be an appetizer and was quite good. Now it's a main dish!
  17. I get it, I just didn't want the OP disillusioned thinking he'd get these 2 small bottle of wine not suitable for drinking but ok to cook with in my crockpot.
  18. The question posted was not about club class being nicer with no wait and a extra dish it was $110 PP PD or $2200 per couple on a ten day cruise (10 days on board 5 land portion) worth it. I say NO way too much. I booked a regular mini on the Diamond Princess May 30 2024 because the value wasn't even close to worth it. Maybe the price will change but I have never seen a cruisetour come down in price.
  19. I wouldn't sail in an inside cabin. As you yourself said, life is too short so book what you want, a balcony and enjoy your trip to it's fullest.
  20. I guess to some it's about themselves feeling important if you believe they tip so much.
  21. Not for the OP who got a standard Mini Suite.
  22. Yes indeed but people seem to like to feel important and tip till it hurts.
  23. Not to be contradictory but I don't like the exposed balconies on deck 9. I prefer the aft covered mini suites on deck 8 so personal preference plays a roll. I didn't realize the specialty was $39 but it's Sterling Steakhouse on the Diamond which is a portion of the buffet set up for this upcharge dinner.
