  1. In a lot of Europe including Italy, the Christmas Eve Dinner is the important meal, much more than Christmas Dinner/Lunch, so it may be fun to try it.
  2. A nice cup of tea means only one thing - Mrs Doyle (and Father Ted!)
  3. We are boarding Rotterdam this weekend and I am reasonably certain that F1 Japan will be shown on stateroom TV's. Also MotoGP, and Premier League The schedules are here: https://sport24live.com/ It was shown when on Nieuw Statendam last month!
  4. Soldiers? That is what we called the toast fingers that we dipped into a runny egg.😃
  5. Just a nod to UK readers who may not be aware of the event, but I just received and email from a UK travel agent that HAL UK will be offering £1 deposits on sailings 2024/2025 for three days - September 19th to 21st. I would still like to read the small print to see when additional cancellation charges kick in.
  6. This is my understanding too. Also served as the evening meal in the old style 'boarding houses' that travelling salesmen and other transient type workers ate and overnighted in. The 'event' on HAL ships is Afternoon Tea unless otherwise named (eg Royal Dutch Tea, Indonesian Tea etc).
  7. DW is a very picky eater so we eat mostly in Lido. Portion self control is not my strong point, so I blame her pickiness for my onboard weight gain. 😉
  8. Pretty common knowledge and discussed frequently on here.
  9. I may just do that Brian. I may endeavour to give you a flavour of the colour and splendour of each harbour and it would be my honour to have you as a reader of my endeavour, which is not a labour, and though you clamour for humour, I ask you a favour, to just savour the odour (a rumour!) without rancour and maintain your demeanour and behaviour in your parlour with your neighbour. You see, it really is all about 'u' 😉
  10. One of the good sources of information when onboard is the Future Cruise Consultant. 😉
  11. I don't think the HoHo bus goes from the cruise terminal to the Acropolis. There is a HoHo bus around Piraeus (the port where you dock) and there is a HoHo in Athens which covers the Acropolis. There is also the X80 bus which goes from the cruise terminal to the Acropolis and then to Syntagma Square. Don't forget that you now need to book admission tickets for the Acropolis!
  12. Many 2025 Charters will not be announced until their 2024 editions are sold out or in progress.
  13. I believe that the answer is 'No'. For double credits the suite must be purchased at a 'published price' so unless you are paying the difference between the price of your balcony cabin and the current published price for the Neptune, then you are out of luck. No doubt someone will post that they received double credits, but I think you are out of luck.
  14. Just not offered for less than 6 days!
  15. Disgraceful! I hope you used Navigator to inform the front desk of your disappointment with the situation and requested an urgent meeting with the Hotel Manager 😂 What will this do for the share price? 🙄🤣 Enjoy your cruise!
  16. I thought there was a virus outbreak as reported by you on another thread?
  17. It's a tender port. It is listed as such in the itineraries on the website.
  18. Depends on airline and seat category. Even a business class ticket with British Airways has to pay extra to select a seat or wait until check in.
  19. No, it is only awarded for on board spending or items (such as pre booked excursions or speciality restaurants) that appear on the on board account.
  20. Last month on Nieuw Statendam in Europe the times were 7.30pm and 9.30pm Rotterdam next week (again in Europe) is also showing 7.30pm and 9.30pm
  21. They are waiting outside Santa Lucia Station and sometimes in Pza Roma
  22. Just make certain you are comparing like with like as those UK prices are cruise only (no Have it All). An obstructed verandah for J369A is showing at £1939 (you can select stateroom) and a regular verandah is from £2099 (HAL selects room) and from £2339 if you select. (Just fyi, the current price showing for an obstructed verandah in euros is €2449) I have used UK travel agent (by telephone) and no problems, but I would hesitate to use online only, without the security of someone to call if necessary.
  23. It was not operational in early August.
  24. The TA roll calls are some of the most active on the HAL boards. Just have a look at this years roll calls or next years. Hundred of posts and many people sharing ideas and tours. Welcome to HAL and so glad you have selected your 35th Anniversary Cruise. Congratulations in advance!
