  1. Why post to a thread that is has been closed by the author? To find your Roll Call go to the Board Index Page https://boards.cruisecritic.com/ then scroll to Roll Calls > Holland America Roll Calls > Rotterdam VII > and the roll call you want is half way down the first page.
  2. You may find taxis at the port, but very unusual to find availability of tours at the port. All the good ones will be pre booked! A taxi driver may take you on tour, but his command of the english language may be significantly less than you anticipate. Also tour guides in most European countries are licenced and are a different profession to drivers.
  3. Not worth expending the mental energy to think about it. Frozen, warm water lobster - no reason to get excited.
  4. Not wishing to be pedantic about it, as any increase in connectivity would be welcome, however, if you read the actual Carnival Corp press release (here), it does not specifically state which brands will be getting the Starlink update. It mentions "plans to expand Starlink to several of the company's other world-class cruise brands, which include Princess Cruises, Holland America Line, Seabourn, P&O Cruises (Australia), Costa Cruises, P&O Cruises (UK) and Cunard." So it will be rolled out to several of the other brands and then mentions all the other brands, but does not confirm which brand will receive the update.
  5. For those wanting to try this exhilarating walk, a new train service from Malaga to El Choro/Caminito del Rey station is due to commence in March 2023. Should be ideal for a Malaga port day! https://www.surinenglish.com/malaga/guadalhorce-valley/malaga-caminito-del-rey-train-20230116111047-nt.html https://www.surinenglish.com/malaga/guadalhorce-valley/caminito-del-rey-reopens-20221216092058-nt.html https://www.caminitodelrey.info/en
  6. Most music does not occur during the early week, but towards and at the weekend. It would also be difficult to find somewhere during the afternoon/early evening. Perhaps you could get a group together from your Roll Call and have a private seisún with these guys....... https://visitbelfast.com/partners/belfast-traditional-music-trail-2/
  7. There are no Uber cars available in Ireland. If you use the App it will just call a normal licenced taxi cab.
  8. Deck 11 at Crows Nest/Explorations Central. Use the FWD elevators for ease of access.
  9. O Jacqui, I am so sorry to read of your further trials, but so happy that you are now home. (I am a little behind in reading as I have been out of circulation for the past week due to a severe kidney infection). We wish you a strong and quick recovery to health. And a good lawyer 😉
  10. Zuiderdam was dry docked during the first two weeks of December, so should be nice and clean. Though could pick up a few 'nasties' during the cruise.
  11. Sorry. I should have made it explicitly clear that my BC comment was so tongue in cheek that it was hurting me. 😏
  12. It's a closed loop of the world cruise! 😉Are Birth certificates not enough ?🤫
  13. er, no! The original was about a bad cruise on Zuiderdam. Everything else is thread drift with personal viewpoints and perceptions.
  14. I find it very strange that no one, not even the company, is permitted to respond to reviews. When you see a 'one star for service' review of any HAL ship, something is amiss.
  15. Disagree with this comment, as Cobh itself is a lovely little town and perfect if you need a 'lazy' day. Most cruisers head off on tours to Blarney Castle etc, but Cobh itself is quite walkable (except for the climb up to St Colman's Cathedral) and during a cruise ship visit has a bit of a buzz going with animation teams and music on the promenade. There is also a Titanic Museum in the old White Star Line building, from which the last passengers embarked as Cobh was the last place visited by Titanic before heading towards her fate. https://www.titanicexperiencecobh.ie/
  16. 1.888.628.8107 or 206.626.7381 If you are within 2 weeks (=/-) of sailing. Have credit card ready and know how much you are prepared to pay.
  17. @kazuthe three crackers were a portent of what was to come! Lady Luck has shone down on you at last. A win and three crackers. 💥 🚀
  18. Had a DAF 66 years ago. OK I will rephrase that.......We had a 'DAF 66' quite a few years ago (before they sold the car segment to Volvo) and the DAF would certainly out accelerate a Beamer, as long as it was acceleration in reverse! 😱 The Daffy's belt drive (or 'Variomatic' transmission) made for outstanding acceleration in both reverse and forward, but to floor the throttle in reverse was hair raising! And on that piece of useless information from me 🙄, Happy New Year John, enjoy your cruise!
  19. We have not done the shuttle direct to MIA, but did do the 'half day' tour of Miami and drop off at MIA. As far as I recall, we were dropped to MIA by 12.30pm! (our flight was 7pm) I will look through records and see what time we were scheduled to meet at Port Everglades as there was confusion over the 'half day tour bus' and the 'straight to the airport bus' as they were scheduled for same time of departure.
  20. Why would anyone count, let alone watch, what another family was doing?
  21. @kazu Congrats on the Bingo win! I hope the happy dance was on one foot only? 😉 Nice to see the crackers on the cheese plate, but only 2? Think I will still bring my own.
  22. Also on Oosterdam since June, it has been called 'Rolling Stone Lounge'. There seems to be two 'Rolling Stone xxxx". On Pinnacles with BBK, it is called Rolling Stone Rock Room, whereas on ships without BBK it is labelled 'Rolling Stone Lounge'.
