  1. Thanks for posting! You made me look at ours for September, and it did drop by $5 p/p/per day, which also lowers the total gratuities. It is still $70.99, but every little bit helps.
  2. I agree Pat. But you don't have to actually pay them. I think the old rate just has to be on your booking by then.... that is how it has worked previously. I *think* if you booked before July 15, you can add gratuities to your sailing now at the old rate. If you have them taken out daily, they will come off your account at the new rate. Or maybe not, if you booked before July 15. But that is the way it has worked in the past.
  3. Thinking about this all day. As a biologist, I have a different opinion about marine parks, dolphin encounters, zoos and wildlife parks. You don't have to agree with me, and I'm not interested in debating. I think of animals in captivity as ambassadors for their species. People do not truly appreciate animals and wildlife unless they get to see and experience them in person. Watching videos is not the same as smelling them and sometimes interacting and touching them. My first love was marine biology. Back in the 60's, my mom would drop me off in the morning at the old pier 56 aquarium in Seattle. I would spend most of the day there. I fed fish to Namu, their first killer whale, who was sadly killed trying to get back to the ocean. I helped the owner get an orphaned baby harbor seal out of his kennel and fed him. They used to have an octopus, Henry, that would climb out of his tank when it was quiet, and scoot across the floor and eat fish in other tanks. I fed baby lion cubs at the Woodland Park Zoo. And I loved Siegfried and Roy. They took great care of their cats. They didn't take good care of the dolphins and some of the other animals in the "Secret Garden". It is not wonderful that these animals are in captivity. But I fully support dolphin encounters, manatee encounters, sea lions, good zoos, wildlife parks, whatever. If they have an appreciation and take care of their animals. Just a few animals can enlighten and maybe educate thousands of people (especially children) in the wonders of nature. It is something that they won't see or experience at home on the computer. We went to husband & wife wildlife park in Louisiana. They take great care of their animals, but they just eat them or skin them when they are old or sick. So, it is all well and good to say you are against captive animals, but I don't feel the same.
  4. When they have done this before, but I don't know if it is the same way now. If your cruise was booked before July 15, with gratuities added, you don't have to pay the increase, no matter when your cruise is. This time, it sounds like if your cruise was booked before July 15, you are still under the old rate that was in effect when you booked. I thought they were going to do this, so we added gratuities to our March bookings.
  5. You know what is weird, too? The Dominican Republic and Haiti are the exact same island with a well-guarded border between the two. DR is all about expensive golf courses, AI resorts and celebrity homes. We passed by Sammy Sosa's and JLo's houses on the way to AdC. According to the bus driver, a few Haitians are allowed in daily that have existing jobs in housekeeping and gardening. It is quite the dichotomy.
  6. Our last cruise out of NOLA was Feb. 2020 on Majesty. There was a storm a couple of nights before we returned, and we didn't dock until 1 PM. (It stunk for all the people waiting to board) That was really awesome! Getting to cruise up the Mississippi River in the daytime and see all the barges and things on the riverbanks.
  7. We went to Altos de Chavon when we stopped there. We spent the day there, had lunch, came back. We were supposed to go to some resort, but our acquaintances, got antsy, even though we were on time, and left without us. We were able to join a bus trip on the pier, for a reasonable cost. Altos de Chavon is really pretty.
  8. The Uber took us to the empty Carnival terminal instead of Royal Caribbean's. She hopped out to get the bags. I hopped out to tell her that there is no one here. There is no ship, no people, just the river going by. And I pointed down the street to show her where the activity was. It was quickly resolved.
  9. We had a one panel cartoon on our refrigerator for a long time. It was a cat sprawled across an open newspaper on the table. The caption said, "Cats can't read, and they don't want you too either."
  10. They used to have them. It was helpful. But Royal Caribbean is cheaping out on a lot of things.
  11. Really? Because that was driving me crazy on Navigator. I had heard that you can make reservations on the app, but it wanted to charge me every time I tried.
  12. I know you said, "Not a room" but here it is: From: allureevents@rccl.comTo: xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxSent: 2020-09-28 4:04:33 PMSubject: xxxxxxx| AL 11/01/20 Kimberly CONFERENCE ROOM [ ref:_00DG0Cdf3._5004A1uKNXy:ref ]Hope all is well!I am inquiring about a final guest count for your group to determine if the venues reserved are adequate for the group's needs.Best Regards, xxxx xxxxShipboard Event CoordinatorTrade Support and Services | Royal Caribbean International
  13. See if you can reserve one of the conference rooms. We had them reserved for our cancelled Allure TA in 2020. I don't recall who Gay was working with onboard, but I will see if I can find the email address. Our Roll Call had reserved it for card games.
  14. My gal friend and I met a couple of Rugby players at a concert many, many years ago. They convinced us to drive over to San Francisco and watch them play the following day. The guys were kind of a bust, but as I recall, the players spent a lot of time in a circle (called a scrum) and kicking each other in the shins.
  15. We have Global Entry. It didn't cost much more and includes TSA Pre-check. Of course, we haven't taken advantage of it the last few years. But Pre-check is nice. Except you are such an early bird airport person. I'm not sure you really need it.
  16. He's been on here before. He used to be "On The Journey" or something like that. I recognize the writing style.
  17. Our neighbors' cats always sit under our birdfeeder, making chirping noises and expectantly waiting....like they are going to fall out of the sky or something. Poor Bobby gets so upset that the other cats are outside, and he is indoor only. Although he seems to have finally resigned himself to it. He's not car smart since he came from the mountains where there was little traffic.
  18. I don't know. We have never encountered such a thing before. It was an 11-night cruise. We were kind of annoyed with several things on that cruise. But the remodeling was not something we expected on a cruise vacation. We have 14 nights booked on Serenade in March, so like all cruises, I 'm sure it will be different, and hopefully better.
