  1. Me thinks HAL needs some more n ew ships so we all can have a better choice
  2. We hope that HAL's scheduling dept . gets the Kuningsdam to service Sam Diego late in 2023 /early 2024 like to do a Hawaii R/T cruise again
  3. Thanks typical RCL move to make more at sea cash but not give service to all people . Should find this to be a problem ,then obviously we will sail on Celebrity more or Holland America who care more for their customers
  4. Hmm then we guess there never was any secrets for this vessel ๐Ÿ˜ช
  5. Love all of this . Well we are Diamond for ever because we are Elite Plus with Celebrity , We have no idea how many RCL cruises we would need to reach D+ We still get the 4 drink daily & the Diamond Lounge๐Ÿ˜ On Celebrity cruises we do get more perks but we still like RCL for certain cruises
  6. CCL stock closed this past Friday October 14 ,2022 at a whopping $7.13 up .03cents for the day . imo buy it get the OBC credits & sell it . with this economy & a world that us headed into global Recession ,travel related anything imo is a bad investment other than the perks & then get out ,holding CCL is like gambling .Personally I am triple shorting the S&P 500 because I see very very dark clouds for stocks & bonds .imo best bet now is own a lot of gold & silver ๐Ÿ˜
  7. We booked Navigator of the Seas in a handicap balcony stateroom for October 23 ,2023 7 night & then the the B2B 4 night we booked for the October 30 ,2023 cruise Although we are Diamond level we hadn't been on a RCL ship since September 2017 when we did the Canada /New England cruise So ,we would appreciate any one who can tell us what is a must see or do aboard this ship . We have done this itinerary more times than I can remember on different cruise lines including RCL ,so every port we know very well . We are more interested on the ship itself & what we don't want to miss . I have all the deck plans on Cruise Ship Decl Plans -- this is all you need type in & click Public viewing for any cruise ship deck plans Thanks in advance for your secrets ๐Ÿ˜ƒ
  8. Yes it will be interesting indeed how HAL looks at & makes their statement . We had waited over 3 years to cruise once again , so we decided to give it a try starting this December on Koningsdam for a B2B with a total of 12 days if cruising . DW is 83 & on that cruise I turn 84 . Other than my DW needing knee replacement for our ages we can still get around with help of a scooter & walker .All out future cruises we book into a handicap balcony stateroom . We both have underlying medical conditions ,so I told my wife that we will wear our KN 95 masks even though we were vaccinated & had a case og omnicron strain late December of 2021 .We will also avoid & just wait for uncrowded elevators . We asked for a table for 2 Knowing full well that this virus is still with us & mutates all the time as all virus continue to do .But ,we made a decision not to keep our remaining years on hold any longer .Yes a personal decision . I just got my senior flu shot mid October but ,I can not take any covid boosters because I had a serious reaction 5 hours after I had the Johnson & Johnson one shot . It became very hard to breathe & truly I though this was the end of my life .The incident was very scary . Additionally ,I been told that a booster shot could kill me because I am allergic to these drugs In summation , I feel protecting ourselves is our decision & not the cruise line .We can only take care of us & not look at others on the cruise . There very well may be coughing & sneezing .We then must steer clear of that area . For sure I would never want to be stick in a inside or outside cabin with this virus still around To every one please take care of yourselves just like you would if on land & in a inclosed store shopping
  9. Just a marketing concept . holland knows the high cost of air fares to get tho those embarkation ports ,so to fill the ship they offered special inside state room pricing . For it is well known that a individual could spend on the ship where a empty cabin will definitely bring in zero revenue
  10. like life itself there are different people with differing personnel priorities . imo ,I perceive this captain was protecting his job first & thus waited for Seattle to give him the official word . .Well just imagine during a war your commanding officer knew there was a offensive building that could wipe out the division yet waited for the official word
  11. We did many Caribbean cruises probably every island at least once & some more than once .We live in San Diego county .When we did those cruises air fares on direct non stop Alaska Airlines was reasonable , today recently priced coach fares were $1056 round trip . for 2 . No doubt rental cars ,hotel rates & restaurants are all more expensive due to this high inflation Perhaps what it could come down to is to lower the cost of travel to the port because when a person adds the cost to get to the port it may very well price them from going on cruises . not only the cost to get to the cruise oier but the average higher cost of cruise cabins .This must have a impact on cruise sales long term
  12. Holland Can make what ever decisions for their crew members & that is their business .I can tell you though that this virus is far from dead as it is appearing on other ships cruise lines now .How do I know this is because I am proactive on Celebrity & RCL cruises we have new bookings
  13. There are small ship cruise lines that can get into ports that big ships can not ,Hal still has 2 ships that are small in comparison to their pinnacle sized ships & perhaps there is a real desire for people to be in med ports more than just one say but over night & even get to ports that the larger vessels can not get to . This is why creative thinking is needed with HAL & candidly other lines which still have the smaller vessels but not the high prices of the luxury lines
  14. Yes Yes Yes this is the thinking & creative way . No extra hotel expenses & the time really to dig into the sights & savor the culture
  15. We remember that cruise into Alaska , going to Kodiak Island ,Anchorage ie .We believe that a small sjp ala Volendam could go up the Anchorage inlet These are the things I wanted to see on this thread because imo HAL is being to near sighted & perhaps nt all their fault but more the fault of Carnival corp , Miami
  16. The decrease in Calif population is all about political problems .That has zero impact on cruise lines because people drive into Calif from Arizona & Nevada & perhaps even further to take cruises from LA & San Diego & SF
  17. What is your Kool -Aide .Are you recommending a personal drink of yours ? Just thought you deserved a reply๐Ÿ˜†
  18. Interesting that we are not seeing a lot of new faces coming to our roll call when the cruise is less than 2 months from sailing .In fact it is very skinny with people . It had never been this way in the past . Could it be the economy is impacting new sales ?
  19. Well Well the gang is all here . FWIW San Diego has the best weather & is one of the most desirable places to live .We have numerous attractions for the visitor to see Europe is appealing because both the Euro & British Pound currencies are weakened ,your Canadian loony will go further in Europe than the USA currently . Perhaps that is a strong motivator for you ;but ,remember the war between Russia & Ukraine is a lot closer in Europe than here i.Yes there are definite trade offs About itineraries ,all are recommendations to a cruise line that needs more revenues both in births filled as well as at sea spending .Candidly I really don't care if HAL keeps the same old same old itineraries , It is not my own business running nor am I currently a share holder in CCL stock .Just far too risky FWIW the companies today that will be financially healthy & here tomorrow are the ones more innovative & with new ideas which are part of originality & innovation ๐Ÿ˜ƒ
  20. Needless to say I am not running the cruise line ;however, what would Apple be today if not for inventive innovation ?
  21. We understand but it will take much new innovation this time to stay in business . The crunch or better vise is happening as we speak .costs are accelerating for both the cruise lines & consumers ,It is getting to the point of suer saturation
  22. What are you talking about getting a reply from one of many government assistants to the Federal Reserve .Yes I said many LOL
  23. common give us a break , That is weak , Here in Calif hundreds of thousands of small business went out of business during the height of the pandemic nit the big box stores like Walmart ,Target ,home Depot ,Lowes ie .more small business will fold in this economy because one they don't have the free cash flows that giants have & certainly they do't have diversified markets like the giant corps do
