  1. Good morning to all. This is a really early post for me but when one falls asleep at 9:30 this is what happens. Prayers for those in need. May everyone stay safe during this crazy weather so far this season. After no snow at all this year, we have been hit with two hailstone storms so far. Today’s weather is forecasting 70 degrees but storms starting this afternoon. My day will consist of figuring out appetizers and desserts for Sunday. Small group of 7 for dinner. Catering from Wegmans for the main meal. My sister and I have decided that we are going to try to cater most holiday meals from now on. The cost really isn’t that much more and makes for a nice day for the two of us. Church services beginning tonight for Easter week. It is an active time for my local church. Prayers for those in need and especially for those dealing with medical issues. Stay safe everyone. Katherine
  2. Marshhawk - DH got a bill like that once. A Dr walked in the room, looked at DH’s finger, and basically said you are all healed. Took about 5 seconds. The Dr charged the insurance around $6000. We got a copy of the bill which we were not required to pay. However, DH would not let it go. Called Drs office about the exorbitant charge. Was told “Don’t worry about it — insurance will pay”. DH said this is why insurance is so expensive and said he was going to report this to the AMA. A few weeks later he got an adjusted insurance bill. The Dr got no where near $6000. There’s a moral to my story but I am not quite sure what it is!! 😀 Katherine
  3. So sorry to read this. Hope your symptoms clear quickly. Katherine
  4. Good morning and Happy Palm Sunday to all who celebrate. Church service in a few hours and then baseball to take up the afternoon. Dinner? Definitely not quite sure yet. Storms here last night which included 2 bouts of hail. No damage that I can see. Sure has been a crazy spring so far. Prayers for all who have been negatively affected by this weather. Prayers for all victims of gun violence but my heart breaks for the victims of the recent mass shooting in Tennessee. Best wishes for a wonderful Sunday for all. Thanks to all who contribute to this “happy place” on Cruise Critic. Katherine
  5. I was on Oasis in August. No issues for me. Cabin was great.
  6. I will comment here. I understand that there are people who can afford to spend $20,000 on one cruise. Good for them and Godspeed. We choose to do 8 or 9 cruises a year instead and enjoy each one. I know many people struggle financially but there is also a much smaller percentage who don’t. Spending as much as we do on cruises is something we would not have done for many decades. Now, in our seventies, it’s a different story. It’s a matter of choice.
  7. Going to try to get definitive answer on what was going on. Sister comes home tomorrow.
  8. No spring tree for me but a spring mantle. Former teacher here.
  9. Good morning all. Prayers for all in need. (I do need to get the hang of that blue bubble thing.) Glad to see so many getting back to cruising but, in my opinion, prices are really high. We have nothing booked until September when we are booked on a 14 day Canada/Greenland trip but that is a long way off. I went to a 25th anniversary celebration yesterday for the school where I ended my career. Saw and heard from some students putting items in a time capsule to be opened in another 25 years. I will only be 97 then so I will be good to go! But it was great to see that kids never change - they were as cheerful and bright as usual. Good for our future. Another bright spot today — opening day for baseball. Go Mets!! Best wishes for all. Stay safe. Katherine
  10. Wow — that is a lot of restrictions. I knew about the summer months but not about the other holidays. I have to ask DS if they flat out said she couldn’t book or if she just could not get the 340 discount. Thanks.
  11. Never heard of black out days. The day she wants to book is April 20 out of Baltimore. Now she is trying to talk me into going with her!
  12. DS is currently on a ship and went to future cruise desk to book a cabin on a ship later in April. Told she cannot book a solo cabin — only a double occupancy. What?? Anyone have any experience with this? Thanks. Katherine
  13. Thanks for all who contribute to this thread and prayers for all in need. Prayers for the victims of the chocolate factory and their families. This was on our prayer list in church today as the factory is only about 1/2 hour drive away from us. Beautiful day here and hope to get several walks in. Best wishes to all. Katherine
  14. I am sure my sister will. Third trip in a few weeks for her. Only place to get decent food for dinner was Coastal Kitchen but that is not an option for most.
  15. Sister started a cruise 2 days ago. Again food is only lukewarm. She will speak with someone tonight. And I know she will fill out the post cruise survey with appropriate facts about the dining.
  16. My opinion only — I am betting that many who are cruising now booked long before any notice of menu changes. We’ll see how it goes in the future. Our last sailing was in March and I will just say that we were very disappointed in the MDR menus. Katherine
  17. So I am only up to page 100 but just had to post. Thanks for such a great thread. I was on Anthem while you sailed and I think you all had more fun. Hope John is feeling better and that everyone has healed from their week of shenanigans! Best wishes and happy sailing to all. PS - John, can’t wait for your world cruise review!! Katherine
  18. Wow. Just reading this after a very long day. Just wanted to say that I am so sorry to read about all of the health issues for so many on this thread. Prayers for all and prayers for good outcomes for all. With much love, Katherine.
  19. Good morning all and best wishes. Thanks to all who are such an integral part in keeping this thread alive and interesting. Prayers for all in need. Glad to read that Roy’s health seems to be improving. I have been home for two days and still doing laundry. It sure seems to be taking me longer to pack and unpack these days. I know I pack too much but always take things that I “think” I might need. DH leg injury is healing from his fall and DD did a good job taking care of him and the house. DS came by to bring food for all. My kids are great. Prayers for our country and really the world. Such an unsettling time. But prayers can work wonders. Have a great day. Katherine
  20. Happy St. Pat’s from the Atlantic Ocean. Prayers for all in need. Our voyage has two more sea days and then home. Call to home revealed that DH had a fall when out with his caretaker but is just sore. Caretaker was scared to death. All seems well now. Our trip has been fun — lots of sister time. Best wishes to all. Katherine
  21. Thank you. We are onboard and looks like no problems other than the missed port. Everyone getting a credit for 1/7 of their cruise fare. Hope everyone is doing well. Katherine
  22. Royal used to give something to the free cruisers but I guess no more.
  23. Good morning. A bit of snow last night—most measurable of the season. For a snow person like me this winter has been a bust. Prayers for all in need. Thanks to all who post here — it is my morning read with that first cup of coffee. Our ship ( Anthem of the Seas) for tomorrow must still be having issues. Got an email last night that we will be skipping a port (Canaveral). So 2 days sailing to Nassau and then 2 sea days coming back to Bayonne. Captain still saying they will dock on time tomorrow — currently off the coast of North Carolina. Missing the Florida stop is no big deal for us but I always feel bad for folks who had plans for the day. I have learned “what will be will be” and just go with the flow. Have a great weekend. Katherine
