  1. I got to the port around 12:30 and rooms were already ready. so, I don't know if they offered the luggage drop off area
  2. just returned from the Getaway. On Sunday, they showed a 1:00 and 4:00 game on the room and bar TVs, as well as the Sunday night game on the big screen at Spice H2O. they also showed the Monday night game on the big screen. They showed the Thurs night game, but not on the big screen. They showed two NBA games on opening night. didn't see any baseball or hockey. They keep the TV in the cigar lounge muted, which sucked
  3. and if it's refundable, yes you can get it refunded at the end of the cruise. You can go down to guest services on the last night and get it back as cash
  4. did you have the $50 excursion credit? If yes, the excursion was probably the same price, but if you book before the cruise, the $50 excursion credit is applied right away and your credit card charged the net price (in this case, $80). If you book on board, you're charged the full price when you book($130) to your ship account, then the $50 credit is applied after you've completed the excursion. so in the end, it's still $80.
  5. there may be a few exceptions to this. for example, on the Getaway, you have to have a collard shirt and closed toed shoes in Ocean Blue and Le Bistro.
  6. 1. You get body wash and shampoo. they are in refillable dispensers in the shower, so you don't know what brand it is. I didn't look too hard at the shampoo, so I don't know if it's a shampoo/conditioner mix. If not, then there is no conditioner. And there is no lotion provided. I don't know if you can request lotion or not 4. yes, you can request coffee. the pot itself may be tucked away in your closet. Either way, you can ask your steward to keep you stocked with coffee. You can also order coffee (and other continental items) for breakfast for now fee.
  7. Unless you're already on the ship, you'd probably be better off cancelling now so the refund goes back to your credit card. If you cancel on the ship, the refund will be OBC, so you wouldn't be gaining anything except that OBC would be refundable so you could cash it out on the last night if you wanted
  8. Our coordinator on the cruise I just finished did have a section for the solos to sit together, but we still had to do our own reservations for the shows.
  9. Just finished my 5th solo cruise this morning. The only thing I'll add is that it looks like the solo gatherings are no longer in the solo lounge. I was on the getaway and we had most of our meetings in Bliss. I asked our coordinator why the change and she said it was a hassle and safety issues with propping the door open to the studio area for those not staying in the studios
  10. I'm glad you're able to still stop in DR. I just got off the ship this morning and I was very disappointed to find out we were going to Nassau, as we're plenty of others. We also skipped GSC, so we started the cruise with two sea days
  11. Unfortunately, I just boarded to find out DR has been dropped on our sailing. We're going to Nassau now. I'm definitely disappointed, but a few more beers and I'll be alright
  12. Just boarded the getaway. Coffee maker is stored in closet
  13. ahhh, I've never encountered this but this would be a good reason to either re-book if the rates are the same, or call them to see if they can switch the card on your current reservation
  14. yeah, I'm totally fine with an inside, but I figured I'd try a minimum bid to upgrade since capacity is still not back to pre-covid levels
  15. Getaway. Inside to balcony. $150 total for the upgrade. Maybe the live bidding is for higher categories???
  16. ok, I thought something was different. I've never seen the live bidding, so I'm guessing it's pretty new. I actually just got an upgrade on my cruise that leaves in two days, but there was no live bids (thus seeing where you were in line). I just submitted an upgrade amount (i bid the minimum) and waited. Received the upgrade two days ago
  17. as for NCL, just pay with the new card the next time you make a payment. No need to notify them of anything. The only thing you have to worry about is if you cancel something (whole cruise before final payment, excursion, etc.) that would result in a refund. They will refund to the original form of payment. Also not necessary to notify hotel. The card you use to hold the reservation does not have to be the same card you use to check in or pay your final bill.
  18. oh no, I'm in no way saying that this would sway me. Honestly, I would just shrug it off. It was just a funny first read
  19. I just received a comp cruise on Carnival, which I've never sailed before. I came to this board to learn about Carnival and see if it's something I want to do. I must say, this is quite a first post to read. :)
  20. Since I started this thread, I thought I could at least come back to say what happened for me.....I did cancel my bid and re-submitted with a different credit card. I received the upgrade from inside to balcony last night (we sail on Saturday), with a minimum bid of $75 per person. This a comped cruise thru CAS, so I don't have a lot of $$$ invested. Just $140 admin fee plus port fees and taxes. This is my first cruise since January, 2020
  21. I did a mock booking, choosing a balcony instead of an inside. The dining gratuities are indeed $17.80 for balcony (2 meals) instead of $10 for an inside (1 meal). So, I guess I mis-understood the rule about only getting the offers from your original cabin.
  22. no, I don't. The only thing I can think of is that I actually now get two meals with the free at sea (instead of the one meal with the inside cabin) and it's the gratuities for that. I was under the impression that you kept the offers from your original booking, though. They will be open in a few hours. I'll give them a call or hit them up on the chat
  23. is there a fee for upgrade advantage? I put in a minimum bid, $75 to go from inside to balcony, but was charged $157.80, instead of $150.
