  1. That looks like a bad spot to be in, I can see that pool filling up with sand, even on the second floor may not be high enough. I see a trip to Sarasota in your future. The worst storm surge though should be south of there, but still probably not good in Sarasota. My Aunt and Uncle just bought a new house in Bradenton, Fl. , they are riding it out in Port Saint Lucie on the East Coast, not sure how close their house is to the Gulf...........We are suppose to go to their house in January and spend 4 days with them after being in Disney for 5 days.
  2. The online agency I book through allows you right online without a phone call to hold a cabin. Even was allowed to put a Royal Suite on hold for 7 days without any kind of deposit.
  3. What is the nearest body of water from your house and how far from it are you? You are near New Port Richey right?, so you might be better off now since prediction now is for the direct hit further South in Sarasota
  4. Seems they are going to close the Tampa Airport today at 5pm and they will be turning off some of the Power in the City of Tampa because of the storm surge. They said they are doing this to save some of the equipment rather then it be under water when the power is live in those underground lines. Could get 3 months of rain in the next 3 days in the Tampa/St. Petersburg, Sarasota area........their average per month is usually 6 inches. NFL is considering moving the Chiefs/Bucs game from Tampa to a neutral site this Sunday because of the hurricane.
  5. Thought the same thing when we moved from NJ 2 years ago. Always thought we would be moving to Florida. The more and more we thought about it just couldn't pull the trigger, between the hurricanes and the heat just thought more and more it wasn't it for us Very happy though with our move to Southwest Virginia. Very nice here, we made the right move for us.. 🙂
  6. If this is the worst storm in the last 100 years, doesn't that mean it might be higher than the previous flood zone heights?
  7. To All our friends on this thread who live in Florida, please post your plans as to what you are doing to get ready for this upcoming "Hurricane Ian". Suppose to a powerful slow moving storm. 140 mph winds on Wednesday Morning.😲 Tampa Residents,. Mandatory Evacuation in place right now. Our Aunt and Uncle live in Sarasota, their plans are going to stay in a hotel in Port St. Lucie which is on the east coast and ride it out there. Whatever you do , please be smart and stay safe.
  8. Nice set-up, much more relaxed then the zoo in the Windjammer. I bet this will nice earlier in the cruise then later when more passengers find out you can have breakfast in the MDR. Do you know if they will have this option for lunch also or is this just for breakfast?
  9. Can you explain more about the MDR buffet and maybe take a few pictures of the set-up they have in the MDR. Don't think I have ever heard of that before?
  10. I think it is wise you are getting a second opinion at the Orthopedic, with that hospital going ever which way with a diagnosis I would be very leery with whatever they say. Might be a reason why that hospital isn't very busy. Hope everything turns out okay. Very surprised they pulled on it first without seeing a cat scan first. But may have read that wrong when what took place first.
  11. Oh that sucks, hope she feels better real soon. Looks painful, hopefully they gave her something. Can't believe they sent her home and didn't admit her into the hospital.? What are they thinking?
  12. @bobmacliberty When you were in Ketchikan, Did you see any Salmon in the Salmon Ladder on Creek Street? Or is it to late in the season to see that?
  13. Yup, they had some not accounted for. Different kind of fuel, but whatever they evidently had some spare. Don't try to understand what Royal is doing sometimes they aren't even sure what they are doing. Probably never know the real reason they did what they did. It's top secret. No one will ever know for sure.
  14. I think you did really well on the I-Fly !! When I did it years ago, the instructor really wasn't letting go and fly on their own...........Because it was a women that maybe weighed 95 lbs. I know she was afraid to let me go since I bet she was afraid she couldn't really help anyone if they got out of control. Amazing what throwing up fish in the air, the Eagles come in packs..........just not a few, I mean 100's. Makes this tour good too is the interactions you have with the crew. To really enjoy ISP you have to get away from the port on a tour, really there isn't much around the port.
  15. Sorry, I'm not sitting here tracking hurricanes. Your post helped a lot. Couldn't just let him answer and leave it at that could you?
  16. That would be the same for the bunkers in Fort Lauderdale too wouldn't it? Scheduled for others?
  17. Which Hurricane are you stressing over? Fiona or do you mean the next ones that are coming? Fiona is pretty much gone for you...............
  18. Maybe they have inside information the price of fuel is going up tomorrow and didn't want to miss out on a good price. Kind of like when you are driving your car and drive by a station where the price is just so good you have to turn around and top off your tank.
  19. Because I thought she wanted a balcony and her available timeframe was limited to as to when they can take this cruise. Both ships have similar itineraries too. I believe Santorini was a must port for her also since she talked about it in another one of her posts on a different thread.
