  1. If you want to explore on your own there is a street car stop at Julia Street in front of the Riverwalk Mall which is next to the port. It's like $3 for an all day pass and you can ride it to the French Quarters, and many of the other places listed above.
  2. It's small, but the food and drinks were good and it's a good value.
  3. One thing to keep in mind is that there are no car seats in the cabs and you will just have to hold the little ones in your lap. This was an issue when we took our 2 yo granddaughter in January. Our daughter didnt want her riding in a cab.
  4. Yes, on both the Vista and Valor.
  5. Some of our favorites: Appetizer - Pork Belly Enrees - Beef Short Rib, Mao's Stock Pig Sides - Chinese Broccoli But everything we've tried has been delicious. Defeintely recommend going!
  6. Food and non alcoholic drinks are free with Carnival on Half moon cay (certain lunch hours only). Mahogany Bay is a free beach area at Carnivals port, easy walk to the ship. There are free chairs but the food is not free there. There are several restaurants and bars with standard beach prices. It's about a ten minute walk back to the ship if you don't want to pay for lunch.
  7. They had it on the Breeze in January.
  8. I was last on it in early 2020 and I dont think it had the snack options.
  9. Just based on the ships themselves, I have been on and enjoyed both. They are almost identical in layout with a different decor, but not so different as to be a factor to me. The main point on favor of the Valor, as noted above, is that it has the Red Frog Pub inside on Deck 5. We really like this venue as a place to dring and they also have fun games that we enjoy. If it just my wife and I we would usually choose the Valor. The Glory is a great ship too and it has a much bigger water park and splash zone, so it's the choice if we have the kids. Itinerary would be a big factor too and we have had great experiences on both.
  10. We took our first Journeys cruise last year and in addition to what has already been mentioned, I was pleasantly surprised that there were lunches in the MDR on some of the sea days like there used to be before the sea day brunch. Also, since the playlist production cast only do their regular shows, for the extra nights they had a special hour long showcase by someone the brought onboard especially. We had two different singers and both were a mix of songs and story telling. It was a nice change of pace.
  11. This happened to me last week. I hit 75 days on the last day of the cruise but was platinum the whole time, including two day earlier check in.
  12. It's so much bigger because the Thrill Theater is gone. 😁
  13. Hope it's minor. I'm booked for October 28th
  14. We had them on the Ecstasy back in September. It was a Journeys cruise though if that makes a difference.
  15. We really enjoyed the Cenote Hopping with Lunch excursion. There is a ferry ride to the mainland then about a 30-45 minute bus ride each way. Thats why I would only do it as a Carnival excursion.
  16. I'm not sure about that, but what we did when our kids were younger is get a photo ID card from the same place where we got our drivers licenses.
  17. I don't get it. I sailed on the Dream 3x out of NOLA and it was full every time. The Glory at least had the updated waterworks. I feel bad for the families with kids getting the Liberty.
  18. We did a 10 day Journeys cruise in September. Out of 4 sea days there were 2 MDR lunches. There were a few dishes on the menu that I've never seen at dinner. They were really good.
  19. For Infinity Bay we went thru Discover Roatan. Infinity Bay Resort - Day Pass (discoverroatan.net) And for Paradise Beach we used Shore Excursioneer. Roatan Paradise Beach Club Day Pass - Roatan Excursions (shoreexcursioneer.com) Both excursions included transportation and we had great service with both.
  20. If your ship has the Italian Cucina del Capitano or Asian Jiji's, both of those have sit down service at lunch that are included.
  21. In Mahogany Bay you can book outside of carnival for Infinity Bay resort or Paradise Beach Resort. They are right next to each other. Great beach and there are jet ski rentals there on the beach.
  22. I understand the apprehension, but Iguana Mama was extremely professional and will make sure you get back on time. We do private excursions in many different ports and have never had any issues. The falls are about 30 minutes (maybe a little less) away so there should be plenty of time. Since you will be in a smaller group than the cruise excursion there is last time waiting around. Also, there are different options (depending on rainfall) for how many falls you do. Iguana Mama is flexible and can adjust for time if necessary. For us, only 7 were availble, but since it was just my wife and I and we had plenty of time we did several of them more than once. Still had plenty of time to not be rushed at the meal afterwards there on site and had time for shopping when we got back to the port. They leave one hour after ship docks so you would need to walk to the pickup location (15-20 minute walk from the ship) by 10am. I think it took 4-4.5 hours from leving to them bringing us back to port.
  23. It's a message service, kind of like text or whatsapp. You have to have the app running on your phone to get the notification.
  24. We've done both of the ships in NOLA and Glory does have the big waterpark but I dont know if they do shorter sailings than 7 day. If you can get by with only one plane ticket your options are wide open. Might find some great deals from the Florida ports. Hope you guys have a great time whatever you choose!
