  1. Mrs Miggins pity it’s not Eurostar all the way which is what we did although we then had to transfer to Chalone Sur Soane where the cruise started from. The only drawback was on the return, no passport control at Avignon so at Lille, everyone off then everyone back on again. Technically then it would have been possible to board Eurostar in London have lunch in Marseille and return all in one day p, I do so wish we had tried it. Lucky to have actually found their case but agree with you expensive jewellery really a no! no!
  2. Basically the only time you need to open your wallet on a Scenic tour is for hair, massage, nails etc and there not horrendously expensive. Okay the shop with jewellery a few clothing items and if your anywhere near Germany teddy bears Steiff of course. I’ve got two from Scenic but then I collect teddy bears 🧸
  3. Curiouser and curiouser said the Cheshire Cat as he disappeared leaving only his grin 😁 behind!
  4. Very true that would I expect be decided by which country the passengers come from.
  5. I suspect it’s easier to moor Jade there until required. Have a great cruise jimmymac123 and CJANDH make sure the bar steward gets to know your favourite tipple tout suite.
  6. It’s not necessarily not allowed mostly it’s the different boat construction and they don’t line up properly. Most companies if you ask nicely will escort you to the lounge for a quick peek. They want to lure you away from your carrier.
  7. Looks like Pearl is moored and Jade is on her way to Lelystad NL
  8. Bill& Dotty & Jazz with that packing list there could be some very interesting evening entertainments - dressing up and quizzes etc. You just need to brush up on your Charleston now.
  9. Ooh exciting having been out of commission for a few weeks she may have that ‘new ship’ smell, bit like a new car but more of it. Have a great cruise.
  10. Your lucky to be able to fly we’re having flights cancelled when passengers are buckled into their seats. Not good.
  11. In the U.K. recently there was a threat to put the work of the passport office out to public tender because renewals were taking so long and the backlog was horrendous. Was the threat tongue in cheek or not?
  12. worldtraveler99 seems all roads lead to Cornwall we went as well and will do again this year plus up to Scotland. I’ve just got to twist a certain persons arm to book our next river cruise which will hopefully be on the Seine.
  13. Our hearts go out to all, you just don’t expect train crashes these days and (I don’t know why) especially not in Germany.
  14. worldtraveler99 out in the sticks we still do for example shopping 🛒 and Doctors 🥼 that kind of thing. Inside Chanel tunnel I.e. duty free. Although basically your correct we as a nation are pushing ‘herd immunity’ to the nth degree. Also recently this is with my synics hat on, catching covid has helped with some potentially sticky situations.
  15. Don’t just go by the month either go by the actual day date. We were nearly caught out because of the channel tunnel requirements, so our friends had a trip to London to arrange a fast new passport. Most won’t understand this but we’re so green because it is blue!
  16. We’ve had ‘Ducks’ on the Thames in London and the Mersey in Liverpool both of these are now banned because of that sinking feeling.
  17. Thank you Jazz over many years we have had the odd issue with Scenic land based office staff all overcome to our full satisfaction although not during similar to the recent trials and tribulations. The actual cruises have always been above and beyond the cruise staff have been superb. I still say that until I run out of itineraries I won’t be trying a new line in a hurry. Although I really would like to know what has been going on, is it just the fact of lack of staff plus to many new members of staff or some other I strongly suspect mundane challenge that they haven’t been able to sort out and which has then become not so mundane for their customers.
  18. Thank you Notamermaid just watching that, ooh so much sugar, nearly made my teeth fall out. Although it took me back to one of my most favourite cities.
  19. Marine traffic says Lyon to Lyon and it’s moored or out of range.
  20. There are two excellent reports in our news hopefully all injured recover well. One report did mention that the train may have been fuller than normal because of the 9€ tickets and that they expect the cause to be technical rather than anything else.
  21. Now Charles is a blast from the past! We did an early April from Amsterdam further north I know but just about the coldest ever even according to our Dutch friends. I’m sure late May early April would be more comfortable.
  22. All have ours have been donated, one of my daughters and her husband work with kids doing their Duke of Edinburghs award so it’s those youngsters who are using them. Ideal for their short or overnight hikes.
  23. Could it be something to do with marketing much as all Viking vessels are referred to as longships.
