Okay gang! We got our new cabin assignments for our B2B cruises 9/8 & 9/16 yesterday as well. As I mentioned earlier in this thread, I was going to cancel these bookings anyway, as we have booked the 15 day journeys cruise leaving on 9/29. Nearly two years ago we booked the same bowling alley balcony (6499) for both legs of our B2B. On the Venezia, 6499 is the exact same cabin, in the same exact location as we had on the Magic, but on the Venezia it is considered a premium balcony cabin. Which brings me to my first complaint. Before booting us out of our cabin, how about a call giving us the option to pay the difference and keep the cabin. Nope, probably never gave it a thought.
Now, here is what they gave us. For the first cruise they gave us a regular balcony (6485) and it is a connecting cabin, something we never, ever book. I guess you can surmise that of course they didn't give us the same cabin for the second leg, even though the cruises were linked as B2B. They moved us from the back of the ship all the way up to the front of the ship into a regular balcony cabin (6243), which was also a connecting cabin. I guess most of the balcony cabins were pretty much gone if all that was left were connecting cabins.
Called my PVP this morning, and he was easily able to get both of my non - refundable deposits transferred to my new booking which really is all that I wanted at this point. He then officially cancelled the two bookings. He told me that at this point, he wouldn't have been able to book me in the same cabin for both legs anyway, and that's because they opened bookings up before everyone was reassigned. Carnival really screwed the pooch on this ship switch.
So for us it all ends well, but what if we were locked into those two dates like many people are. I would have been livid, and can't blame people for their frustration. I Hope it works out for all involved.
