NCL even in normal times has great last minute rates i have never seen on other lines. they even let you go solo unless is peak season. rare to get a true solo rate. ive seen 15 day TA for 400

on the ncl site you search on the left side of the page for just one passenger then you can get the solo rates. i only search out of NYC since thats the only close port. then i search by cheapest first

Corona virus cases are multiplying fast

Case in point: Carnival 2020 was cancelled in Venice.

 

Currently 3089 confirmed cases and 107 deaths in Italy (but 276 recovered...)..

If there is a no-go for Italy, wouldn't they likely just change port to another country nearby?  Like they are already doing in the Caribbean (no Jamaica on one line for instance, but I can't remember where I read that just the other day - I think it was US News..)

Nothing except that a Jamaican port refused to let a cruise ship dock, worried about Covid-19, and now I think the line is punishing them under the guise of 'not wanting to chance another refusal.' Darn, I wish I could find that reference again. It may have been on cruiselawnews.com.   Yep, found it. Updated 3 days ago, Carnival will not land at Jamaican ports or Cayman Islands due to their previous refusals.  You can just go to the cruiselawnews website for more info.

Wow. That is so not right.  Hope there are other ships that will still be willing to go to Jamaica one day.

I think other ships are still going to Jamaica and Caymans, just Carnival throwing its weight around.

that particular sailing passengers got a 100% refund.

We are on it in April, and so far MSC hasn't communicated any port cancellations or changes.

and don't forget multi-hour waiting period for clearance at Cozumel. So, basically, they had 1.5 ports out of 4.
