C&A Changes - Positive!

Recommended Posts

Careful thought and planning before implementation are one thing but if you are correct that they have been working on this problem for five years,, that is carrying things to the extreme. Whatever they eventually come up with, I can almost guarantee that it shouldn't have taken them five years to do it.

And it probably won't take most of us five years to point out the flaws and inequities in their "new and improved" system.:D

Bill, your posts always make me smile:p:D

Got that right. Some people are probably already working on their e-mails as we speak. :)

Construction of the Empire State Building only took 410 days from cornerstone to ribbon cutting, and that was in 1930-1931.

The coffee machine was broken in the CL on Explorer. We also didn't use the Diamond/Plus breakfast in the main dining room. Family style seating has never appealed to us. I like the "made to order" omelets in the Windjammer.

Hi Tony,

Yeah, they were all large long tables in the D/D+ breakfast. We peeked in and we both said "Nah" and went to the MDR. That's the only day we ate in the MDR for breakfast because we both prefer the WJ for breakfast too. I love the omelet station and/or fried egg station as well.

For me, the implementation of a nightly Diamond Event on all ships in the fleet more than offset the loss of CL privileges.

No..........I don't think so. The D event does not compare to the CL privileges that were lost!!! Are you D?? or are you D+?

I'm sure the wine and champaign drinkers among us would agree with you. However, for those who prefer beer or something stronger, it was definitely not an acceptable replacement.

Ditto.............LOL

What Tony said, plus the fact that most of our friends that we cruise with are either D or D+ and now we can't all be together in the CL overflow lounge and that stinks!!! Our D+ friends can drink whatever they want so I certainly can't blame them for not wanting to come hang out with us at the D event, which honestly, I don't think I'd even bother to go to next time we cruise.

Oh yeah, actually our next cruise isn't even on RCCL...........LOL

The latest that I had heard from C & A is that if you are booked in a balcony and are upgraded to a JS or better, you will only receive the same number of credits that you would have received in the balcony. So, for a 7 night cruise, being upgraded to a GS from a D-1 would only give you one point.

Anyone else heard the same thing. I believe that it started over a month ago.;)

Rick

Yep - our friends have cruised on Mariner twice with upgrades from balconies to JS cabins and only received a single credit on each cruise, which I think is how it should be - get the credit you paid for. It seems to have started at the beginning of this year.

So, should I take your response to mean that they have still not put the finishing touches on the new system? If so, I guess that when they eventually reveal their "new" system we will be absolutely stunned by the results of a more than five year effort. Clearly after more than five years of polishing and refining the system we should be suitably impressed by the scope and thoroughness of their finished product. If your standard for dealing with a major decision by a huge billion dollar corporation is to be accepted as normal, then we should be commending BP for their "swift" handling of the Gulf oil spill.:(

I thought that the first shoe dropped last year when they made significant changes to the Crown and Anchor program and subsequently made some revisions in order to reduce the degree of dissatisfaction that their actions created.

If they've been working on changing their system for 5 years, that means they started one year after implementing the new C&A (double points for JS & up started in 2004). It's absurd for it to take so long IMO. (I think we're agreeing on that).

Precisely!

What it said was that RCCL valued those who had attained Diamond status to the point that a Nightly Event with complimentary wine and champagne would be found on every RCCL ship that sailed. I actually believe it involved more ships than the five mentioned.

Nope, those are the only 5 ships without a CL. Three orphan Vision class and Majesty/Monarch. All of the other ships have CLs, so the Nightly Event is more of a downgrade than an upgrade fleetwide, anyway.

Any chance you could post a link - if I log into the rcl.com page I just get a message saying new benefits to come and the UK page is worse than useless, we can't see our history, check our points etc so I hardly expect them to be up to date on this

Radio - thank you so much for taking the time to do that - we're always kept in the dark a bit in the UK ;) Will now take a good look at it, but at first glance I'm pretty happy :D

They are going to need more help onboard booking cruises now. It's was bad enough before when you couldn't combine booking onboard OBC and Crown and Anchor Balcony Discounts.

Imagine how bad it will be now:eek:

On the Diamond Discounts there is only a $25 difference between booking prior to 6 months or over 6 months.........why make people confused, just keep it the same no matter when you book it.........Some things just make you want to shake your head and say why?

Anyone have any idea if this portion (combining On-board booking OBC with use of Diamond Plus Balcony discount) is retroactive for existing reservations made onboard?

I'm sure a lot of people would like to know, but I have my doubts. If they did that, tons of people would be adjusting their bookings (including me).
