Thanks for letting us know what is happening. I am praying the rest of your trip will have smooth sailing. I was on the Carib. Princess 2 years ago on the same trip. It was a great cruise with wonderful people and adventures. I only wish you all the best and a safe journey !

Good Morning Dawn, and thanks for keeping us abreast of what's going on aboard the CB. FYI, Irene is supposed to smash Montauk at approximtely 10:00 AM.

Hope you're getting fed and will be able to sleep; eventually.

Dune Road in the Hamptons has 3 feet of water, the town of Hampton Bays is flooded the tide is still rising. My parents live on the water out in the Hamptons and though they were under evacuation orders, they are hunkered down.

We are in cabin F-311 Puerto Rico cabin. It is very noisy and I wonder if it is the entire ships cabin or just these cabins.

Wave height reported on Ships Television Station is 12 to 18 feet right now. We are traveling at 15.4 knots.

The waves look huge from down on this level. Pretty and scary all at the same time. Mother Nature is really showing her power right now.
We'll be right next door in F309 in January. How close is the water? Just a few decks down, right? I was thinking that would make for less motion, not more, but I guess in storm surge there's no telling!

Hope you're in calmer seas soon.

What a great attitude Pixie!! Thanks so much for letting us know what is going on. We sail Sept 3rd. Hopefully we will get to our ports. Stay safe and keep us in the loop

You're on the CB Sept. 3rd and the Glory Sept. 5th? Pray tell how you intend to do that.

NOAA has now down graded it to a tropical storm. I am sure it will take a few days for the waters to calm, but if all is safe and sound you can mark this up as an interesting experience. We shall continue to read about your unique cruise.

I hope you home is safe and sound.

Thanks to everyone for all the well wishes. I am sure Irene and her fury should die down soon. Meanwhile, she seems to be following us to Canada.

I took a walk around and met a husband and wife in the main lobby complaining they can't take the motion in their cabin. I told them my cabin isn't as bad as how they described their cabin. I did tell them about the noise in mine and now they decided to come and sit in my cabin and deal with the noise, they say the motion is a lot easier to deal with on this level. (Fiesta) I did close the curtains for them, as they don't see just how close the water is to my window. It is their first cruise. :p

I will be going out and walking around and checking out the ship soon.

I guess we may have more changes in the itinerary since I heard Newport was hit pretty hard.

I will keep you updated as I find out.

Dawn

Sending you all the positive thinking possible, though you seem like an incredibely positive person yourself ( I can picture the grape thing and you made me laugh)!

You and your daughter ( and others ) should start planning all the details of how you will celebrate having gone through this. Maybe each big noise can be an extra something for the celebrations. My mom used to tell me when I was little that thunder were angels playing bowling and got us cheering when the noise was louder. Maybe for your daughter ( don't know how old she is )you can turn it in dolphins playing !

Your posts are really well written, short but informative on facts and what you feel. Maybe you could write a cruise adventure book ! I'd buy it ( please leave the jammies reflection and the grapes one).

Best regards, thinking of you !

Denise,

Thanks, I hope so too! It certainly is a adventure.

f-309 - That would be the cabin right next store. You are going to love it!!

Yes, the water level on a normal cruise would stay a few levels down. Right now it looks a bit closer with the waves splashing up. :p

From what my new poor sea sick friends are telling me, my cabin has less motion than the one they are in on deck 12.

Something to know... In the corner of the living room area by the window, you may hear water trickling down. With the waters the way they are I was concerned and called guest services. I found out that it is a pipe that runs along the ceiling and goes down that wall. So, don't get nervous if you hear the same thing in your cabin. It is the water from a sink or toilet above.

I came in this cabin thinking I would hear the Casino from above, but haven't heard any other noises then what someone explained to be the stabilizer cutting through the water and lots of stress noises from the motion and strong waves.

My advice... bring ear plugs, just in case. Other than that, you will have a great time and enjoy your cabin!!

Thanks Andrew!

Tropical storm sounds so much nicer right now. I am happy I don't get sea sick quickly. Yes, it is quite an experience.

Funny, we were on a back to back on the Disney Dream and we were trying to outrun Irene last week in the Bahamas. We got home on Thursday, and boarded this ship on Saturday, just to be doing the same.

Irene has become a annoying stalker, glad she is going away!

Announcement from bridge, we are staying on course and will be heading to Halifax tomorrow.

Speed - 15

Wind - 60 mph

Seas are very rough - didn't give the height but I will check the television.

(That channel is actually off right now for some reason, like so many others).

Anything new I will post.

Hope everyone here is having a good day and if you are on the East Coast, stayed far away from Irene when she blew through. She doesn't play nice with others.

Enjoy the rest of your trip. I look forward to reading more

pixie, i'm sorry you are going through this.

the wind scares me, i can't imagine how awful it is for you to not even be able to hear each other speak.

i was in some rough seas, but nothing close to what you are going through! i'm so impressed you are able to try and comfort your new best friends! i'm afraid your stalker irene is following you north, but it sounds like she's getting tired.

Dawn, thanks for the warning about the water noise. I would totally have been calling about that, if you hadn't told me! :o

I will bring ear plugs, but I expect the wine in a box will get the job done. ;)

I hope the rest of our party with their Riviera deck staterooms don't have issues with motion. I'd hate to end up with all of them sleeping on our floor!

It's funny to me that they don't change the ship's name on this itinerary, like calling her the Canadian Princess or sumpin'. :p Then again, changing a ship's name is supposedly bad luck.

We were on the Star once in the Caribbean Sea and the weather was sunny and beautiful but we had 8 foot seas for 3 days. We were on Plaza deck and the stabilizer noise was pretty bad, that's what you hear. We didn't feel much motion on the Plaza but people higher up did.

Hi Dawn: Thank you for all your posts. My son, 84 yr old dad, three sisters and their families are all on board (total of 12 - I didn't go as I did a similar itinerary two years ago). I am not getting much info from them; only the odd e-postcard, so your info is much appreciated. This will certainly be an interesting trip but I hope my dad holds up. I'm a bit worried about him falling; he tripped last Christmas in Guatamela and spent the night in the ship's infirmary and the next day at a hospital in Acapulco. Once again, thanks so much for posting.

Mary,

Give me a cabin number or last name and I will contact them somehow and see how they are for you.
