What Was Your Favorite Regent Cruise and Why

Recommended Posts

We just completed our fourth Regent cruise.

2009 - Alaska

2010 - Eastern Mediterranean (Istanbul to Athens)

2011 - Western Mediterranean (Barcelona to Rome)

2012 - Baltic - Stockholm to Copenhagen

I need to start planning the next one. Unfortunately it is difficult to go on a very long cruise, but open to suggestions. The problem I am seeing is that most of the cruises that look interesting that I would consider seem fairly booked up with most of the lower cabin categories shown as "wait list". We usually book a G or H category room.

Cruises we are considering are South America, Australia/New Zealand, and Asia itineraries. Would love to know what cruises you would recommend for us? We have been on the Mariner and Voyager but not the Navigator. I would consider doing another Mediterrean cruise with some different ports but my husband wants to try something new.

Auckland to LA via FP; it's 16 days I think and doesn't happen every year but is worth the wait (does have several sea days though and that's not everyone's cup of tea).

Paul Gauguin in French Poynesia 7-14 day itineraries available. Not Regent but definitely "in the style of" Regent.

In January we are in a G Miami to Buenos Aires; buthte first 14 day segment is Miami to Lima via the Canal (really neat experience if you haven't done it). Visits Southern Caribbean (Aruba and Curacao) ports en route.

Great ? Carol.

We love the Voyager and like in order:

--Hongkong to Bangkok (saw the wonderful Ha Long Bay, Da Nang, China Beach, Hanoi, Cambodia, Bangkok)

--Dubai to Athens (this April--fabulous)

and we're booked on:

--Mumbai to Bali (great itinerary, right time of year..u may want to look at this)

My favorite cruise ever was on Navigator, Reykjavik to Copenhagen, 14 days, back in 2005. We went up to Spitsbergen near the Arctic Ocean, and to the permanent ice pack. We stopped on several Norwegian ports and ended in Copenhagen. We had glorious weather (except the first day in Reykjavik). Loved that Midnight sun!

Tahiti -- Paul Gauguin (when it was managed by Regent) in 2004 -- first luxury cruise and nothing can really beat relaxing in Tahiti.

The Baltics -- This was amazing -- such incredible ports.

The Mediterranean - not during hot, crowded months (May or mid-September through mid-October).

Middle East off-season (November/December) -- changes what you may "think" about this part of the world.

Have to add one place I haven't been -- yet -- India. Expecting to find it the only place in the world that we have been that I do not like. Put off going there for 20 years........ this should be interesting:confused:

All of them were the best. Each one had a some kind of highlight or memory.

The cruises we've done with friends have all been wonderful. In terms of ports, Monte Carlo to Dover was exceptional for us. The cruise portion in Bordeaux was as good as they get. We did a crossing from Monte Carlo to Florida that had some great highlights. Can't just pick one...

One of my favourites was the Norwegian Fjords right up into the Arctic Circle. I would love to try the Amazon or the Chilean Fjords. I also love Transatlantic crossings.
:) Hi Tom....Both the Amazon and the Chilean Fjords(+Patagonia) are great cruises....I could do Valparaiso-Buenos Aires every year even if I were not alowed to get off the ship...Till we meet again, Rob.....Tu amigo viejo.

Hi, Rob. Good to hear from you. I suspect the long flight to Valparaiso or BA means that South American trips may be a pipe dream for us.....but you never know. (And less of the "old" if that is what "viejo" means!:p)

Song of Flower, Norway, fjords, on to Edinburgh. What a cruise, what a boat.

Thanks for the memory, Longhorn1. Any cruise on the Song of Flower was a favorite of mine. It was never about the ports on the Song, it was the ship and her staff and crew.

Besides my Song cruises, my favorite was the 71 night Discovery Collection cruise on the Navigator in 2008: Athens to Fort Lauderdale. Some many wonderful ports, new places and great people to experience.

I was on this cruise with Maria back in 2005, (first time I met her) and to this day, after many more, it remains my favorite of my now 30 cruises with Regent! The weather and the people onboard in our group (TA escorted) "made" it! I returned several years later when it was rain, rain! I am partial to fjords, loved the Chilean fjords as well.

My favorite(s):

Stockholm to Copenhagen

Auckland to Sydney

Sydney to Beijing

Beijing to Bangkok

Rome to London

Barcelona to Venice

Hmm, that happens to be all of our cruises on Regent. They've all been favorites for one reason or another. And, we have favorite ports on all of these segments.

Can't pick just one!

As others have said they are ALL good. We have been on all three Regent ships, I prefer Voyager for layout and base cabin size, DW prefers Mariner, all cabins great. We agree however that we would probably not choose Navigator again. Perhaps we were influenced by itinerary (Eastern Carib. 10 day), but we felt like Nav. was just too small and too much vibration for us. Having said that, probably our most favorite cruise was a 10 day on the Paul Gaugin. I would do PG every year forever if DW would agree!! Just a beautiful place, and by far the most relaxing cruise we've been on. I am not retired so it is hard for us to get away for too long. We have stretched to do some 14 day itins, and we just did the 12 day Iceland/Norway to CPH cruise on Voyager in June. Highly recommend and they are doing the same itin. next June as well. Check it out!

Favorite cruise for me is a toss up. Alaska on the Mariner (twice) and the last cruise earlier this year, Barcelona to Southampton; great itinerary and sailing the river to and from Bordeaux (and Bordeaux itself) was absolutely great.

Michaek@ssrp, we have booked the 2013 Reykjavik to Copenhagan. I would be interested in hearing your likes as well as dislikes about the ports, etc. Thanks.

Favorite cruise? The next one!

Why? The anticipation of a new experience. There are so many places we've never been, and cruising is definitely one of the best ways to at least get an "introduction" to some of these places, I doubt we will ever repeat an itinerary.

Barcelona to Dubai, November-December 2011.

It was a last minute decision, went through the Suez Canal, visited places I wanted to revisit plus a few new ones, and best of all, it was one of the friendliest cruises I have been on. I actually got on the dance floor...first time in many decades! Excellent birthday celebration.
