What Cruise Amenities do you NEVER use!

Here are the ones I could come up with:

 

I NEVER get in a hot tub (gross, crowded, too many kids, and too hot while in the Caribbean)

I almost NEVER get in a pool (see above)

 

I ALWAYS order the “Drink of the Day” at or before sail away

 

ALWAYS attend the safety briefing/muster drill

 

I ALWAYS get the free room service a couple times for early port breakfast or late night snacks

 

I NEVER go to Specialty Restaurants or pay for specialty coffee/dessert, or any up-charge food (The food included in the fare is better than what I eat at home anyway)

 

I SOMETIMES (not usually) eat breakfast and lunch in the MDR

 

I almost NEVER get the free soft serve ice cream (I forget its there)

I SOMETIMES go to the Comedy Club

 

I USUALLY watch news and at least one movie on the cabin TV

 

I SOMETIMES use the (expensive) internet services if I’m flying back on Southwest (to check in 24 hours ahead), or if I need to look something up (e.g., sand flies attacked me once…what to do for relief). Not for e-mail or FB or anything like that.

 

I NEVER watch anything on the outdoor Big Screen (but would if it was a good movie and the weather were nice out and there was nothing better to do)

 

I NEVER go to any of the “informational talks”

 

I NEVER learned how to fold towels into animals, but love my towel animals each night (collect them into a “zoo” by the end of the cruise)

I have NEVER taken a tour of the ship, but would like to do the “behind the scenes” tour someday

 

I NEVER go to the Spa (heard they have nice showers, which I may try some day if ever in a cabin with 4-5 again)

 

I NEVER got a temporary tattoo or had my hair braided

 

I NEVER go to an Art Auction (once when my DD really wanted to and they had free champagne…torture)

 

 

I NEVER buy any jewelry at the $10 jewelry sale (or any jewelry in the ship’s stores)

I am always amazed at how different people enjoy a cruise differently. It can truly be anything you want it to be......

 

What about YOU?

 

It's a good thing Carnival offers so many choices....people complain when CCL makes changes, what they fail to realize is that not everyone likes to do or eat the same things they do. Carnival can not please everyone, but they do make an attempt to please their target market, keep costs down and offer a cruise at a price their target market is willing to pay. Yes there are some things that don't interest us or we don't like....but the there are plenty of other things that we do enjoy that make sailing CCL a value to us. If they didn't we wouldn't sail with them. I don't like wasting my time complaining about the things that I don't like...mostly because I know there is probably someone else out there that likes it (as proven above).

We always try to dance the "YMCA" at least once on every cruise. Don't know why, it has become tradition. Once we couldn't find any band to play the song but they played it in the MDR and our record stands perfect.

We NEVER watch TV or use the internet services - tv mostly at night or in morning while getting ready; internet a couple of times to check email

Always try new things on the ship on each cruise, and are usually glad we did.

Try to get to know the people we meet up with and enjoy their stories and experiences of life.

Don't turn our noses up at the hot tub at the end of a big port day, when our muscles and feet are sore - never got a disease from that yet.

Have never had a bad meal in the dining room at any time of day, and thus resolve to try to eat there more often.

Would not miss one day of having coffee, fruit and pastry breakfast delivered by room service, and always tip every room service server.

 

Other than that, no hard and fast rules or practices on board. We just take it as it comes, - and believe me, anyway it comes on a cruise, is easier than our normal life.

We ALWAYS go to the Show, when there is one.

We USUALLY go to some Kareoki

We USUALLY see the sunrise and the sunset.

We ALWAYS have pizza out under the stars before going to bed.

WE ALWAYS love every minute and feel that every day is busy and full !

 

I am always amazed at how different people enjoy a cruise differently. It can truly be anything you want it to be......

 

What about YOU?

I don't do the casino/Wife would LIVE there if they'd comp her losses

I don't use the HOT tub/Wife does, but ONLY in ports of call, when casino's closed

We don't do the 'spa' thing, TOO expensive

We rarely do the MDR, too lazy to dress casually and feel out of place

I can't drink alcohol/Wife does moderately

WE both LOVE the buffet, OR the other food shops/including the steakhouse

We've never gone to the Captain's dinner/too formal

We BOTH love the relaxing feeling of sailing, the view AND smell of the sea air on the balcony:D

We never use any of the spa facilities.

We rarely use gym.

We don't use hot tub.

although we sometimes use basic pool we don't use slides or other water stuff.

Before platinum level we rarely ate in specialty restaurants.

 

We do use room service for morning coffee and pastry.

We NEVER get in a pool It depends on the cruise--two of five, one we would ahve but the weather was terrible

 

We NEVER get room service At minimum I have tea brought every morning

 

WE NEVER go to Specialty Restaurants or pay for specialty coffee/dessert We like to try them. On Windstar there is no up-charge for any of that. We ate three times at one of the restaurants, but skipped the other as the menu didn't appeal.

 

We NEVER eat breakfast in the MDR Depends on the ship, I'm not fond of buffets for any meal

 

We NEVER get soft serve ice cream My husband gets it daily, I don't really care for itt

 

WE NEVER go to the Comedy Club Don't think we have either

 

We NEVER watch TV or use the internet services We do both, although in Europe we just used the free wi-fi at cafes in port

 

We NEVER watch anything on the horrid Big Screen don't think it's ever occurred to us one way or the other

 

We NEVER go to a TALK I won't if it's only about shopping. ON Windstar they talk about thw ports the night before, but the emphasis is on the history and culture, not pushing you to shop someplace they get a kickback or taking a ship excursion

 

We NEVER learned how to fold towels I haven't either

 

We NEVER take a TOUR I've had a bridge tour and a galley tour, went shopping to a local market with teh chef. On Windstar it's open bridge, so no need for a tour. Pop in and ask questions or take photos any time, just no alcohol on the bridge.

 

We NEVER go to the Spa I can't imagine a cruise without a massage

 

We NEVER got a temperary tattoo Tacky, me either

 

We NEVER go to an Art Auction or Jewelry sale Agreed

 

We NEVER walk the track or jog or work out I'll walk the track, DH runs 3-5 miles on a treadmill every morning.

 

We NEVER care to eat at the Chef's table Haven't been on a ship that offered one, but do so at home or when traveling every chance I get

 

We NEVER go to the Captain's reception Do'nt think we did so on DCL or RCCL, on Windstar it's not a big deal because the captain is so approachable all over the ship all the time anyhow.

 

We NEVER play shuffleboard, mini golf or go down the slide Ditto

We NEVER stand in line at Guest Services to complain I guess you need to clarify "complain." I don't think discussing a charge that isn't yours is complaining. Never stood in line at guest services on any ship though.

 

We SELDOM buy anything in the shops We buy things if they suit our fancy, but that isn't all that often.

 

We SELDOM go into the Casino I don't gamble, but watched a friend play roulette on my last cruise.

 

We SELDOM play bingo I've never done this

 

WE SELDOM go to any activity on the list except for trivia games We usually do the wine tasting, galley tour, it really depends on the ship. The three lines we've sailed are all night and day from each other, so this isn't a OSFA

 

I hate to say it but we USUALLY buy pictures We usually buy one or two, last time we bought a package that included as many as we wanted on a CD

 

We ALWAYS buy a few Drinks daily Depends on the cruise, my last cruise included wine, so no need to buy much else

 

We ALWAYS go to a dance club for a little while Never

 

DW ALWAYS buys a Soda Card Never--two out of three cruiselines I've been on offered free soda, but we don't drink much of it anyhow.
