t60 Posted September 23, 2012 #26 Share Posted September 23, 2012 We stick a suction hook on the cabin mirror and hang our lanyards with cards there when we´re in the cabin, makes them easier to find IMO Sandy in Spain
Krazy Kruizers Posted September 23, 2012 #27 Share Posted September 23, 2012 We have well over 110 cruises and have never used lanyards. And will not use them in the future. Neither of us like anything hanging around our necks. We both wear slacks / bermudas that have pockets.
SheriAZ Posted September 23, 2012 #28 Share Posted September 23, 2012 lanyard for me, except when dressed up. I lose everything.
MilliesMom Posted September 23, 2012 #29 Share Posted September 23, 2012 Actually just ordered a lanyard for my camera. Didn't like that it just had a wrist strap.
boba Posted September 23, 2012 #30 Share Posted September 23, 2012  We usually use them but don't have enough cruises to get special treatment yet. Working on it though. ;)
Rare geoherb Posted September 23, 2012 #31 Share Posted September 23, 2012 I've never used a lanyard for my cruise card. All of my shorts have pockets, and I always make sure that my swim suits have a pocket that zips or has a full velcro closure (not just a little tab of velcro). When we took my 85-year-old mother-in-law on a cruise this past March, I got her cruise card punched so that she could wear it on her lanyard. She's used to wearing one at her retirement apartment. She had some outfits that did not have pockets, so the lanyard was convenient for her as well.
DonnaK Posted September 23, 2012 #32 Share Posted September 23, 2012 We do not use lanyards, and do not like the way they look. I put the cruise card in my pocket, and if my outfit does not have a pocket, my husband's pocket will do. Neither of us, nor our kids, have ever lost or deactivated our Sea Pass this way. boewok Posted September 23, 2012 #33 Share Posted September 23, 2012 Always use a lanyard. Got used to them at work and now it's just comfortable and convenient. Don't carry a purse and don't always have a pocket.
Suitcasefull Posted September 23, 2012 #34 Share Posted September 23, 2012 I use a lanyard when I have no pockets in my outfit ...I am not one to carry a purse at home so why would I do it onboard the ship YMMV Exactly!!! Bookish Angel Posted September 23, 2012 #36 Share Posted September 23, 2012 I didn't have one on my first few cruises and lost or misplaced my card an annoying number of times. A lanyard changed all that.

jocap Posted September 23, 2012 #38 Share Posted September 23, 2012 My OH can lose all his possessions between the balcony and the bedside table..... I wish I'd a £ for every time he's misplaced his card- never replaced, as I've always found it by a bit of logical thinking.... A lanyard solved one problem- now, what to do at home with car keys, ccs, phones.....(yawn).... Jo.
Rare Lionesss Posted September 23, 2012 #39 Share Posted September 23, 2012 I take a Lanyard with me when I am out and about without DH, however when we are out together we just slip it in his pocket. Just do whatever works best at the time. Safe travels. Sue and crew

We do NOT use lanyards and have never lost our cards. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I had an oops and lost my cruise card in Liverpool. No lanyard. I don't plan on wearing one. But I plan on being more careful. sparky-elpaso Posted September 24, 2012 #44 Share Posted September 24, 2012 We found wearing the lanyards to be a bit of a conversation starter on our cruise in Australia. Walking around a port, nice older gentleman out in his yard - "Oh, are you from the ship? Are you from America? Hope you're enjoying your trip to Australia." Etc. Since I already have a camera around my neck the lanyard sometimes isn't that obvious.
mgcarnut Posted September 24, 2012 #45 Share Posted September 24, 2012 We used them on our 2010 Panama Canal cruise, but not on our recent Alaska cruise. They are more useful when you are in swim clothes or wearing shorts without pockets.
geospyder Posted September 24, 2012 #46 Share Posted September 24, 2012 The nice thing about men's clothes is that they have pockets :) The bad thing about men's clothes is that they have pockets when my wife's outfit doesn't :(
Jimnbigd Posted September 24, 2012 #47 Share Posted September 24, 2012 Because some casino slot machines use the ship card so you can earn points. I use a lanyard so I don't walk off and leave my card (which I've done a few times with the lanyard).
Jana60 Posted September 24, 2012 #48 Share Posted September 24, 2012 I am curious, do people use the lanyards for convenience sake, or is there an advantage to showing your loyalty program status? We are elite with Princess Cruise Lines, would we get better service if our black cards were hanging around our necks:confused: We have used lanyards for many years not to show the color of our card but so that we don't have to carry anything else around with us. We go to pool, dinner, shows, shops, even ashore and really don't need anything else and are not tied to carrying a purse or worrying about the card falling out of our pocket. Of course when going ashore I think its always wise to bring additionally a VISA card and my passport as I always worry about what I would do if I were left behind in a foreign Country. If you have those 3 things your ready for anything!

We are elite with Princess Cruise Lines, would we get better service if our black cards were hanging around our necks:confused: I wear a staff card at work on a lanyard and even if I don't think it's very stylish I do admit it is extremely handy (also on a cruise). I've been planning to make my own lanyard so it could be both handy and stylish :D As I wear a lot of dresses that don't have pockets I need somewhere to keep the card. Steve Agree with the day time / night time difference but for different reasons. (I assume) I have not been able to find earings to match. :D Also have a collection of lanyards due to forgetting to recycle from one cruise to the next.
