~Destiny Review October 6th 2012~

This is my first attempt at doing a review, but i decided to give it a try because while planning for my cruise i read any and every review that i could find on the Destiny, so i thought i would return the favor, be warned that my spelling is horrible so be kind please:)

 

So here goes. I planned this vacation a year in advance, I thought the day would never get here, The wait wasn't to bad as I've had a very busy year. A little about us. It was me 44 and Dh 47, We decided to do two days in South Beach before our cruise. We meet my sister 31 and my Mom who's still claiming to be 48:rolleyes: until she could get a senior discount.

 

We stayed at the Kent hotel, got a good deal on LMT for $80 bucks per night, not a 5* But clean and conveniently located. We arrived early and couldn't check in until 4pm. They held our luggage and we were off to find food.

 

Here are some pictures, At least i hope;)

Of course we had a few drinks, By the time we got back to the hotel to check in we were feeling no pain,we check in our rooms and it was lights out. We woke up around 9:00pm. I called my mom to see if they were woke and we decided to go have dinner,and go to Mango's

We decided on the 11th street diner, the food was good and the drinks were even better.

My hubby is so cute, i told him not to wear that Sox hat but he can't leave home without it. After dinner we walked around and i couldn't believe the stores were still open, So i did what i do best, i shopped.

Hubby collects pipes and found a stores that sells pipes so he was happy.

 

 

After shopping we went on Ocean Drive in search of Mango's, everyone stops you on Ocean Drive with a special drink deal, Of course i love a deal so i took the deal, two huge monster drinks for $25 bucks, and they will put you on your butt. Sorry i forgot to take pictures for the rest of the night, let's blame it on the monster drinks, needless to say we never made it to Mango's.

Ohh,, GOODY!!! Can't wait for more. But, I can't see the pics :confused:

The next day we woke up late, we went to breakfast, good deals for breakfast on Ocean drive, $5 bucks gets you enough food for two people but be careful because they get you on the juice, juice is $5 bucks a glass:eek:

 

 

After breakfast we went to Walgreens, My mom needed some last minute things before she and my sister went on their cruise. My Mother and sister went on a girls cruise with a group of friends, Norwegian cruise to the Bahamas.

It was time for my mom and sister to leave for their cruise so we say them off and me and dh had the rest of the day to ourselves. We took a nap which was nice because i never have time to take a nap during the day, after our nap we had lunch at a restaurant called Puerto Sagua, it's a cuban restaurant with good food and good prices;)

 

I forgot what this was but it was tasty. I had the Cuban sandwich which was also very tasty

 

 

After lunch we walked around for a while and then we went to the beach. Later that evening we decided to go to Wet Willie's and again we got caught up in the buy one get one free drink deal and never made it to wet willies.

Here's a few pics on the beach, we stayed about an hour as it was hot as well, We're from Chicago, and it was cooking in Miami.

We woke up early Saturday morning, The day that i have been waiting for over a year was finally here, My hubby had this idea that we wouldn't leave the hotel until 12:00 to get on the ship so he wouldn't have to lug our carry on around until 1:30:rolleyes:...Hahaha I Love my hubby, he's so cute. Of course i had other ideas and checked out of the hotel at 9:30 got a taxi and was at the Port of Miami a little before 10:00.

I got Zone 1 Boarding, I was so excited. You would have thought i won i free car.

We are going to spend the day b/4 in Miami and are planning on going to 11th St. Diner.

We got on board around 11:15 and had lunch, The hubby was starving because i was in such a rush to get to ship that morning, we didn't have breakfast.

 

 

I had a salad, i wasn't really that hungry, Maybe i was overly excited.

 

 

Dh had Happy valley and something else he smashed before i could get a picture.

 

After lunch we went on the deck to get a drink, and wait until 1:30 so we could drop off our bags.

Take me with you please... The 11th st Diner was good and the prices wasn't bad, plus they make a mean drink, I had a drink called a Miami storm that was so good that i made the mistake of ordering another, Not one of my better ideas.:D

At 1:30 we went down to drop off our bags and to check out our room. We had cabin 7316 one of the L-shaped cabin with the bigger balconies, I was nervous about this room because I've always had a midship cabin and i was scared of getting seasick, Let me tell you i worried for nothing, i couldn't feel any motion in the cabin, well not from the ship anyway;) I absolutely loved this cabin and this was our first time getting a balcony room, i made a great choice, but the only problem is i got addicted to that darn balcony.

 

 

 

And the cabin does have a sofa.:D

Too funny. I was in this cabin in 2010. Loved that long balcony. Plenty of room to relax
