Inside room on the Crown

I am considering a cruise on the Crown Princess and for this cruise I am happy with an inside cabin. I am lucky enough to have been in many cartegories of room from Suite to inside and an inside will suite me in the instance. My question is are there any inside cabins which are better than others, whether that be in size, location or anything else I haven't considered.

Many thanks in advance for your help. Merry Christmas!

Personally, I like the forward Lido deck area when I am cruising solo .... very quiet, and readily accessible to the pool area and the forward elevators, and a brief walk to the Horizon Court.

I've cruised in cabins in that area 3 times so far, including a transatlantic, and have not had any problem with "ocean motion".

I agree, I've had insides on the Lido deck and it was great. Nice and quiet and just a short walk to get outside and see the sights. Not to mention the close proximity to the food!! :D

Just off the Ruby Princess (same layout as Crown Princess) and had cabin C404. It was just about perfectly situated amidships as well as top to bottom. The laundrymat was very close as was the elevator lobby (center elevator lobby and scenic elevators). There was no cabin forward of mine (fire wall and fire door), the cabin next door and aft of mine was very quiet (never heard a peep), and there are no cabins directly across the hall despite what the deck plans shows. Here are two pictures showing the location:

Looking forward toward laundrymat (just past the cart)

Cabin C402 is on the left and catty-cornered from inside cabin C404

Looking aft, no cabin across the hall

Balcony cabins C406 and C410 just down the hall to the right.

I have had an inside on both the Plaza deck and one of the sideways ones. While they both have the benefits noted above, be advised that some of the sideways ones are adjacent to the pool on the deck above and one can hear the pool equipment operating. On Plaza deck, make certain you are forward of the elevators in the 200's not back in the 300's where the work space below the rooms is quite loud at night and the casino above is also frequently noisy.

I would recommend the 'sideways' inside cabins on the Riviera deck. their layout makes them seem larger. EM

We're booked in R507 (one of the sideways cabins) on the Crown for Easter cruise. We're aware that there is a pool above - so we'll see if that's an issue. Other ppl have said the hallway noise of the sideways entry was more noticeable.. "your mileage my vary".

There are six super secret inside cabins on Riviera deck. I'll tell you the numbers, but you have to promise you won't divulge them to anyone else!

R403, 407, 508, 507, 514, 515.

They're easy to spot because they appear larger on the deck plan:

They are somewhat larger, but their primary attraction is the design. Their layout is far better than the other cabins. Believe it or not, the closets actually have doors!

Most interesting! I had no idea cabins with this layout existed.

I may need to write those number down for possible future bookings, even though I love the forward Lido area!

Thanks for the numbers AND the photos. (BTW, are they only on the Crown?)

No, they are on all Grand Class ships on the deck below the pools, although the number does vary from ship to ship. They are sideways in order to fit into the space between the hallway and the pool(s). The layout is the same in all of them, although the divider section varies from ship to ship. In the above picture it has an open counter, on some ships it is floor to ceiling.

We had an ocean view on the Plaza deck and loved it! I will look for the insides on the Plaza deck as an option also as we absolutely loved Plaza deck and the proximity to the International Cafe and the Piazza. Great way to spend the morning when your husband likes to sleep in! Buy a coffee card and enjoy the Great coffee and the muffins! Easy access to the Princess theater and the casino and dining room on deck 6 also! The art gallery is a great cabin mate! Really quiet!

Hi,

from our personal experience, avoid Lido 233 and Riviera 317 to much noise from above, Lido the pool above Riviera the cleaning crew at 2 in the morning, had to be moved.

have fun, Berliner

I would agree, very convenient to IC and all the activities in and around the Atrium

Berliner-

We are in cabin L228 on the Crown for our July 2013 cruise. How bad was the "noise"?? Where was it coming from, the pool pump?? We still have the opportunity to change cabins. On a cruise on the Golden we had a Lido cabin in the same area and had no problems with noise. Thought we would do the same location again for easy access to the open decks.

Haven't figured out how to do a quote the right way yet :o.

Those are interesting looking cabins. But, in looking at the photos, it seems like the bed is very close to the entry door. I would think you would hear the hallway noise more. And more light would filter into the sleeping area. In the standard designed cabins, the bathroom/closet area provides a buffer for that.

We did not have a noise or light problem the one time we were in one of these cabins, but when you are coming into the cabin you need to be more careful that no one inside is in a state of undress in view of a passerby.

I've booked these cabins a number of times and my experience mirrors yours.

We love the plaza deck inside cabins, cant beat the great location for many of our night time activities. As mentioned above, the art gallery is a great neighbor, no noise! We have sailed these cabins on Crown and Caribbean Princess and will be on the ruby next week in the same area!

Although we sailed with my brother and sister in law on the Crown and they were randomly assigned one of the alternate layout cabins on the Rivera deck and they dis seem larger and they really liked the layout. They did not report any issues with noise. I believe they were in R407.

They are very popular. I've occasionally seen them priced higher than other categories.

We were in R508 and R514 on the Grand last year. The extra space (about 20sq ft.) and the layout were great. We did not experience staff or pool noise. In fact, we liked them so much we've booked the same cabins on the Crown for January.

Not sure if the Crown is the same, but we were in an inside room on the Ruby (R327, I think) which was listed as "can accommodate a 3rd/4th person". The bunks were attached to the walls, and did stick out into the room a fair bit, as you can see. I understand that the outside cabins typically have bunks that hide in the ceiling, but the inside rooms have them on the walls. If you don't need the bunks, I would recommend NOT choosing an inside room for 3/4 persons!

Has anyone had one of the inside cabins near the aft Terrace Pool? It's the Riviera Deck for some of the ships and the Aloha Deck for some of the others.

My main objective is peace and quiet. Cabin square footage isn't that big of a deal. There are other inside cabin options like 1 on Lido, some of the sideways cabins on Aloha under the pool and also the ones at the very end of the deck near the Terrace Pool.

Any suggestions or help?
